Here we go again! Everyone at this point last year made it this far. The cream has risen to the top, the contenders have eased passed the pretenders. And what do we have left in the Central? Komets versus Walleye...again... The Komets got to this point by making quick work of the Indy "Fishers" Fuel in round 1. Winning the series in 5 games with 2 shutouts to boot, one by each goaltender. The K's will be riding with Samuel Jonsson as their goalie of choice for the foreseeable future. He has been standing on his head this series with only 2 goals allowed in 2 games and a .961 save %. In the playoffs you need your goals to come from everyone, The Komets have been doing that. The snakebitten Leo, Indiana native Matthew Miller finally got his first home goal as a Komet in game 5 of the first round. Brady Stonehouse who had his fair share of tough luck has 3 goals and is a plus 3 thus far. Stoney is the type of sandpaper player that is built for the playoffs, and if he can keep up that scoring clip, then everyone should take note. Not to mention that the top guys are scoring as well, Austin Magera leads the playoffs with 7 assists to go with 3 goals. 2 Points per game is an insane clip regardless who the opponent is. Every Komet on the active playoff roster has recorded at least 1 game, a true sign of the team's depth. Maybe this year will be different, the Komets have the talent to make that elusive deep run that hasn't happened since they won it all back in 2021. They have not lost at home so far in the playoffs going a perfect 3-0 at home up to this point. The Toledo Walleye have had a slightly different road up to this point. They won their series in 6 games to the Bloomington Bison. To the surprise of very few, Brandon Hawkins leads the team in points with 8. One thing they have been doing well was tearing up Bloomington's defense. Scoring 24 goals in 6 games well distributed up and down the line-up. Take it with a grain of salt, because Bloomington was playing catch up mode most of the series, Carter Gylander has a sub .900 save percentage, although not by much. What is alarming is what was the 6th best PK in the league comes in the playoffs with a college failing grade at 64.3% (however, that would have passed my weighted Differential Equations class I had the displeasure to take in college.) The Komets special teams have been firing up at the right time, Toledo will need to find that regular season groove to keep up and to prove that they are not cooling off at the worst time possible. This series will be chaos, as it always is. With Toledo getting the best of Fort Wayne the last couple of times last year and back in 2019. That series last year was painful for Komets fans. A golden opportunity was squandered as the underdog team. Now The K's are the top seed with home ice advantage, now is the time to dethrone the Fish once and for all. For Toledo Walleye, the ever elusive Kelly Cup has been teasingly close. They would love to win this series to continue narratives against a division foe and to bring home Toledo's first hockey championship in 32 years.

The Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois fight week events have been opened up to the public in Manchester. Ipswich’s Wardley defends his WBO world heavyweight title to former world champion Dubois this weekend on May 9 at the Co-op Live in Manchester. Fabio Wardley has called for Daniel Dubois to make it “a firefight” straightaway when they box for his WBO heavyweight world title next month. Wardley puts his championship on the line against former world titlist Dubois in Manchester. Dubois is known for his tremendous punching power. He was the last man to beat Anthony Joshua, knocking out the heavyweight star when they clashed at Wembley Stadium in 2024.Since then Dubois lost the IBF title to Oleksandr Usyk but will be looking to become a two-time champion when he fights WBO boss Wardley on May 9. Wardley is a finisher himself, notably when stopping Justis Huni late on and Frazer Clarke early in their rematch. He beat Joseph Parker last year too and is now the WBO heavyweight world champion. He intends to take the fight to Dubois from the first bell. "We have all the intention as a team of getting straight in there and getting straight stuck in, getting into his face and making it a fight, making it a firefight," Wardley told Sky Sports News. Daniel Dubois has all the tools to beat Fabio Wardley comfortably, but he won't utilise them. That is the opinion of 'Triple D's' former trainer Shane McGuigan. The esteemed British coach worked with Dubois for four stoppage wins over Bogdan Dinu, Joe Cusumano, Trevor Bryan and Kevin Lerena between 2021 and 2022. They would subsequently go their separate ways ahead of Dubois' first defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in August 2023, with Don Charles taking over the hot seat. Under Charles' guidance, Dubois strung together a trio of impressive knockout wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua, culminating in a short reign as IBF heavyweight champion. While he would eventually drop the black and gold strap to Usyk in a rematch last July, he has since been handed an immediate title shot against WBO heavyweight champion Wardley on May 9. Anthony Joshua has returned to Oleksandr Usyk's training camp as he continues to step up plans to return. Joshua defeated Jake Paul by brutal KO in December, but was involved in a car accident later that month in Nigeria that killed two of his close friends. For a while it appeared the Briton's boxing future was in doubt, as he took time away to deal with things more important than the sport. But it appears he is closing in on a return to full training camp, having been pictured in training with current unified heavyweight champion Usyk. But it appears he is closing in on a return to full training camp, having been pictured in training with current unified heavyweight champion Usyk. Joshua left trainer Ben Davison and moved to join Usyk's team for his victory over Paul as he sought a new environment to breathe new life into his career. At regional level, he has held multiple heavyweight championships, including the British and Commonwealth titles from 2019 to 2020. As an amateur, he was a five-time national junior titlist and British champion. Dubois is known for his formidable punching power, with 21 of 22 wins by knockout. He also held the World Boxing Association (WBA) interim heavyweight title in 2025. At regional level, he has held multiple heavyweight championships, including the British and Commonwealth titles between 2022 and 2025. In 2025, Wardley swept British Fighter of the Year honours from ESPN, Boxing News, and British Boxing News, with his knockout of Justis Huni also earning Knockout of the Year recognition from each outlet. "Nebraska wants to be at the forefront of new events and opportunities for our players and our sport. Having the opportunity to face our long-standing rival, Texas, is the icing on the cake. The last meeting between Nebraska and Texas during the regular season was Aug. 27, 2016, a 3-0 Husker victory at the VERT Challenge in Eugene, Ore. At the time, the Huskers were ranked No. 1 and the Longhorns were ranked No. 2 in that rematch of the 2015 NCAA Championship. BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT Players Era, a subsidiary of EverWonder Studio, was founded in 2024 to create a more equitable model for college sports that centers around valuing the players and expanding global fandom through the creation of first-of-their-kind world-class events. Players Era debuted with the 2024 Players Era Festival, which delivered a week-long celebration of college basketball – featuring exciting games and groundbreaking NIL activities for participating teams. Continuing its rapid expansion, in 2025 the annual showcase evolved into an 18-team Players Era Men’s Championship and the inaugural Players Era Women’s Championship, with both tournaments featuring the eventual national championship winning team. #HuskerVB #GBR #NebraskaVolleyball #bergenreilly #Harpermurray #andijackson #danibusboomkelly #huskervolleyball #HuskerSports #nebraska
