CHICAGO -- THe best 2-way players of their generation colide in this matchup between the 2019 Raptors and the 1996 Bulls. The Raptors got off to a fast start, starting 7-0 prompting an early timeout from the Bulls. The Bulls continued to striggle on offense and Mark Gasol came off the bench provided extra lift for Toronto, giving them as much as a 12-pt lead in the period. He would score 12 pts off the bench, including 2 3-pointers and the Raptors are off to a good start with a 27-19 advantage after one. The 2nd quarter was all about Scottie Pippen. He put on a postup masterclass. Initially finding himslef guarded by the smaller Lowry, he got himself in rhythm and once he was on, no matter if it was Kawhi or Siakam in front of him, he was scoring on a multitude of moves. He scored 12 in thbe period and had the Bulls retake the lead. The Raptors regained some ground behind some strong play from Van Vleet and the Raptors hold on to a 2-pt lead going into the half 44-42. The 3rd quarter was hard fought as both sides stayed solid on both ends. Pippen had another strong quarter here with Jordan seemingly having an off game. Toni Kukoc however provided the extra lift off the bench, scoring 7 pts and dishing out 5 assists in the period, as the Bulls led by as much as 5. Toronto kept their toughness however, with Leonard staying aggressive, scoring 10 and VanVLeet continuing his strong play off the bench. Bulls keep a narrow 2 pt lead heading into the 4th. In the fourth quarter, Michael Jordan broke out of his slump (was 8/17 at that point), came out aggressive and had a huge quarter. He would go on to score 22 pts in the this final quarter, scoring on a variety of moves... dunks, spin moves, and his fadeaway was clicking. The Raptors attack was more balanced, with Siakam leading the way with 10, but also some aggressive play from Lowry and Leonard. THey kept it close despite Jordan's huge quarter. Bulls led by just 1 point with 2 mins to go Jordan would answer the call with a jumper on the other end to put the lead back up by 3. This was followed by back-to-back blocks by Luc Longley on Kawhi Leonard on the next play. Leonard would still bring it down to 1 with a driving dunk with 56 secs to go. Bulls would rely on their defense to keep the lead. Kukoc would make a huge defensive play on an inbound pass in the last few seconds to protect a 1 pt lead and Jordan played excellent defense on Kawhi on their last play. Bulls would make their FT's down the stretch to seal the win. Jordan finished with 38 pts 5 rebs 3 assts 5 stls. Pippen added 34. Kukoc added 12 pts 6 rebs 9 assts. Kerr with 14, 3/5 from 3. Kawhi led 5 Raptors who scored double figures. He finished with 24 pts 4 rebs 4 assts 5 stls.
