Mavs Trade Rumors: Possible Dwight Powell Replacements Ft. Andre Drummond, Aron Baynes, Gorgui Dieng
Mavs Trade Rumors: Possible Dwight Powell Replacements Ft. Andre Drummond, Aron Baynes, Gorgui Dieng

The Dallas Mavericks suffered a tough loss the Los Angeles Clippers on tuesday night, but the toughest loss came of the night came in the form of a Dwight Powell injury. The injury has not been confirmed as a torn achilles, but the Mavericks fear the worst after Powell went down without any contact. Dwight Powell has been a critical piece as a starter for the Dallas Mavericks, catching lobs and starting at center next to Kristaps Porzingis. The Mavs may not have to make a move at all to replace him with bigs like Maxi Kleber and Boban Marjanovic, but if the Mavericks do decide to replace him either via trade or free agency, we have some potential replacements. Andre Drummond is the name that has been most talked about by fans, and the Mavs have been linked to him in some early trade talks. Drummond is an elite rebounder and would take a lot of pressure of Kristaps Porzingis in the low post. His big body would be great to defend the other bigs in the league that the Mavs have had trouble with like Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Dwight Powell is limited in his defensive ability, and Andre Drummond may be able to step up in ways that he could not. Want more Mavs videos from Chat Sports? Click to subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/ChatSportsTV?sub_confirmation=1 Another name that has come up recently is Gorgui Dieng of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Dieng himself would not be an incredible get for the Mavericks, but if the Mavs were to trade for him, there is a decent chance the Mavs could land Robert Covington with him as well. Covington is a reported trade target for the Mavericks anyway, and if they could find a way to replace Dwight Powell with another able-bodied big man like Gorgui Dieng and then pick up Robert Covinton, it could work out well. The Timberwolves could look to dump Dieng’s contract anyway, and the Mavs could take real advantage of that before the NBA trade deadline. Dewayne Dedmon of the Sacramento Kings has openly requested a trade from the lottery-bound team after not getting real playing time. Dewayne Dedmon hasn’t been great for the Kings, even when he was getting regular playing time, and he is owed 13 million dollars the next two years. He wouldn’t be a great back-up big man, but he would be the tax for Dallas adding Bogdan Bogdanovic. Bogdanovic would be an obvious target and fit next to Luka Doncic as another playmaker, and if the Mavs can add him and another center in Dedmon, there is no reason the Mavericks shouldn’t at least try. That would address two major needs for Dallas. Other centers Jimmy Crowther of All Things Mavs mentions include Aron Baynes of the Phoenix Suns, who is playing a lot less now that DeAndre Ayton is back and getting into action. One of the free agent options that could make some sense is veteran rebounder and defender, Joakim Noah. Salah Mejri, who once played for the Mavs, could make some sense, but Boban Marjanovic is playing a similar role to what he was when he was in Dallas. The Mavs have options, and they might not make a move at all, but they might have to do something. The Rockets trailed wire-to-wire, never even forging a tie, though they did come close. The final push came in the fourth quarter, with Houston cutting what was once a 20-point deficit to 110-105 on a transition basket from Clint Capela with 9:04 remaining. Houston still trailed by five when a crucial turn of events unfolded. Russell Westbrook missed a transition lay-up with 7:19 left that would have sliced the deficit to three, the smallest margin since the first quarter. However, the Clippers closed the quarter on a 14-7 surge for a 100-87 lead heading into the fourth. Harrell had 12 points in the third. Image: Montrezl Harrell smiles after drawing a foul against the Pelicans A 14-4 run to start the fourth allowed the Clippers to bury the Pelicans. Will Nikola Jokic be suspended for leaving bench during Nuggets-Jazz scuffle? | After the Buzzer

Paul Pierce, Stan Van Gundy and Michelle Beadle react to Nikola Jokic and a number of his Nuggets teammates leaving the bench area during an altercation between Jazz forward Derrick Favors and Nuggets center Mason Plumlee. Pierce and Van Gundy agree that it’s a tough call since the scuffle occurred directly in front of Denver’s bench, but Van Gundy thinks Jokic will be suspended one game by the letter of the law. ✔ Subscribe to NBA on ESPN on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2yxs3Og ✔ Subscribe to ESPN on YouTube: http://es.pn/SUBSCRIBEtoYOUTUBE ✔ Watch Latest Episodes on WatchESPN: http://es.pn/LatestEpisodes ✔ Watch ESPN on YouTube TV: http://es.pn/YouTubeTV Get more ESPN Shows on YouTube: ► First Take: http://es.pn/FirstTakeonYouTube ► SportsCenter with SVP: http://es/pn/SVPonYouTube ESPN on Social Media: ► Follow on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/espn ► Like on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/espn ► Follow on Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/espn Visit NBA on ESPN on YouTube to get up-to-the-minute NBA coverage, scores, highlights and commentary.
