The Golden State Warriors Make SURPRISING Signing - LACROSSE Player Pat Spencer
Keith Smith of Spotrac reported that The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent guard, Pat Spencer to an Exhibit 10 contract. Spencer is renowned for being an NCAA lacrosse star during his stay at Loyola University. He was a 3-time finalist for the Tewaaraton Award before winning the trophy in his senior year. This award honors the top collegiate lacrosse player like the Heisman Trophy in football or the Wooden Award in basketball. He is twenty-six years old and finished his college career at Northwestern in 2019/20. Last season, he joined the Capital City Go-Go, which is the Wizards’ G-league affiliate. Spencer even played part of a season for the Hamburg Towers in Germany before joining the Go-Go. He was seen on the floor in 15 regular season games along with nine showcase cup contests for the Go-Go, playing a limited role off the bench. Recently, Spencer played for Washington’s Summer League team in Las Vegas averaging 6.5 points per game and 3.8 Rebounds in four games. While Spencer will occupy a spot on the 20-man offseason roster of The Golden State Warriors, it will be tough for him to make the regular season squad. He will most probably be waived off before the start of the regular season, and join the G-league team of Golden State, and Santa Cruz Warriors as an affiliate player. In case he joins the G-league team, he will get a $50,000 bonus after spending at least 60 days with Santa Cruz. Exhibit 10 contracts can also be converted into two-way deals before the regular season begins but in this scenario, both of the Warriors’ two-way slots are currently filled.Today’s video will be about Pat Spencer and why he was a great signing for the Warriors. Before we go any further, make sure to like the video and subscribe to our channel for more exciting NBA content.Let’s keep rolling.Pat Spencer’s deal is only supposed to last through the summer which is similar to the deals of Trevion Williams and Mac McClung. This will give the first dibs of these players to the warriors if they play to their perceived potential. Pat has a lot of experience as a lacrosse player and his skills and vision will help him in his basketball career. Lacrosse is a very demanding sport which makes Spencer every bit of an athlete as anyone else on the floor. The following year Spencer played for the Washington Wizards’ G-league team, averaging 7.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in just 14 minutes. His free throw percentage was solid at 81 percent, whereas his three-point percentage spiked to 45 for this season as compared to 23 in the previous season. Apart from three-point shooting and points-per game, every other box score metric scaled almost perfectly from his year at Northwestern. But there is a catch; his playtime was reduced which shows his consistency in the shooting. The Wizards decided to have Spencer play in the Summer League in Vegas. He averaged 13 minutes in four games and outperformed every team’s defense. He averaged 6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4 assists during those 13 minutes and rarely lost the ball to the opponent team. He did lose it once during the games while averaging 1.3 steals. The only disappointment is that he shot one for five from distance. Moreover, he kept his fouls low and only fouled once in four games combined. Spencer is pleased with his progress as a professional basketball player so far. On January 21st, he said on Glenn Clark Radio:The ultimate goal of Pat Spencer is to contribute to the NBA and he understands what kind of player he needs to be to become an NBA All-Star.Spencer also stated:At the end of the Summer League, The Golden State Warriors noticed his abilities and signed Pat Spencer for the rest of the summer. Spencer and McClung are in an interesting position. The signings such as Ryan Rollins, Trevion Williams, and Pat Spencer suggest that Golden State is looking out for its future. Sending such players to Santa Cruz will put the Warriors in a better position because eventually Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green will start transitioning into roles. When this happens, the second unit of Golden State which includes Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and Jordan Poole could play the majority of the game. And what do you guys think? What are his possibilities to join the Golden States’ roster? Will he prove himself as a better guard than the current players of Golden State? I would love to hear your opinion, so please let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks for watching, and do not forget to like and subscribe to our channel for more amazing NBA content! How Is THIS Happening AGAIN?!
The Kevin Durant drama gets even crazier as both Marc Spears from ESPN and Marcus Thompson from the Athletic write that the Warriors superstars have been in communication with KD and a potential comeback to Golden State for him has been mentioned. Wait what?! Let’s go through all the details and explain everything. What up everybody, my name is Stefan and this is Heat Check. Let’s get into it. Ok so we already know that Brooklyn is asking for an All star level player and multiple young prospects. Golden State has a lot of young players with tremendous potential in Poole, Kuminga, Moody, and even Wiseman who’s still a mystery box at this point. Also, the value of Andrew Wiggins right now is the highest that’s ever been, so he could as well be thrown into this deal. But does it make sense to do it? Poole developed into a blistering hot scorer, putting up 18.5 points per game last season, Kuminga and Moody both showed flashes of being great 2 way players even in the limited time that they got last season. This is a great young core that could help the aging core of Steph, Klay and Draymond bring this team a few more championships. So then this report looks strange. The Warriors superstars have been in conversations with Durant. In addition to catching up, the Hall of Fame-bound peers did entertain the idea of a reunion. You can pause the video to go through the entire paragraph, but why would they swap their bright future for 2-3 years of who knows what type of circus with a 34 year old KD? Well, someone from the Warriors revealed to the Athletic the real reason for that: Because it’s Kevin freaking Durant. A once in a generation type of offensive player and we saw how unstoppable that team was. So according to people in the Golden State organization, the guys are open to having Durant back. Which is interesting to hear because Draymond and KD have had a few back and forth sneaky jabs. Whether it’s on a podcast And there was also this petty exchange on twitter where Durant tweeted after game 1 of the finals which Golden State lost, and then check the date, Green remembered and waited for almost 2 weeks to tweet those same exact words back after he won the title. This is just the tip of the iceberg of the slight back and forth between the 2 sides ever since KD left, but hey, I guess winning heals everything. To me however this makes the least sense for Durant himself. He couldn’t win in Oklahoma, then joined the Warriors in a move that’s probably the most scrutinized in NBA history, and got his wish fulfilled regardless. He won 2 championships and 2 finals MVP’s, but as he said it himself, it didn’t feel good. He wasn’t happy. So from there to go to Brooklyn ending up in a debacle, and to once again come to Golden State? That’s ridiculous. And how would it feel to win yet another championship on this superteam that’s not going to be acknowledged by the critics? What would that do to his legacy? I don’t really care about legacy to be honest, and those top 10 debates on ESPN are beyond insane. MAD DOG BOB COUSY CLIP But as we know Durant is one of the more sensitive when it comes to criticism and how he’s perceived, so to do a full replay of what happened the last time- after already admitting how that made him feel- to me that’s unthinkable. So we’re all waiting to see if Kevin Durant is about to do the unthinkable. Can you imagine this team being formed once again? Do you think they win the title by default? Let me know in the comments. That’s it for now, subscribe and talk to you in the next one. Peace out.
