Why Do NBA Players Wear Compression Shirts Under Their Jersey?
Why Do NBA Players Wear Compression Shirts Under Their Jersey?

The NBA has a strict dressing code for how players must look on the court whether they are playing or not. That is why you can often find college players dressing differently from NBA players. For instance, most college players wear t-shirts under their jerseys but NBA players don’t. Although you might have noticed few players like Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers who is an exemption to that rule. NBA doesn’t allow its player to wear t-shirts under their jersey so what you see Anthony Davis wear all the time is actually a compression shirt. What is a compression shirt and why do some players wear them often? You’re about to find out in this video. And if you’re new to this channel, hit the like button and subscribe for more interesting NBA-related videos. The tradition of wearing a t-shirt under the uniform became popular among college players in the 1980s because of Patrick Ewing. The basketball Hall of Famer claimed that he started wearing t-shirts under his Georgetown university jersey because of the cold. He had one of the most successful college careers of all time and was selected by the New York Knicks with the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA draft. Ewing wanted to continue this tradition with the New York Knicks but NBA denied his request. However, things have changed and the NBA has relaxed some of its rules, which now allow players to wear compression shirts under their jerseys. This tradition started during the 2005-06 NBA season when players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James began wearing tights under their shorts. They claimed that these tights and sleeves helped to keep their legs warm and improve their performance. The league frowned at this practice at first but decided to allow players with medical needs to use them. This soon became popular and players like Allen Iverson started wearing compression sleeves on their arms. Now, most players wear these sleeves all the time as well as compression shirts under their jerseys. Compression shirts are made with materials designed to stretch for fit but provide pressure against the body. Most players wear them under their jerseys because it helps them absorb sweat, keep the body warm, prevent injury, and enhance performance. The muscles usually tighten up when there is cold and this might affect a player’s performance. Also, because of the intense level of activity involved in basketball, players sweat profusely and this can make them uncomfortable. However, with a compression shirt, a player can keep his body dry and cool at all times. Beyond the reasons mentioned already, compression gears have also gained popularity because of their medical benefits. Firstly, compressions gears increase the level of oxygen delivered to the muscles, which in turn lead to better performance. If you’ve ever played basketball, you’ll understand that it is very strenuous and it can make you tired quickly. The tiredness is because the muscles have used up most of the oxygen available. Compression gears prevent this by increasing the volume of blood supplied to the muscles, which in turn make more oxygen available. Another important benefit that they have is that they can shorten the period of muscle recovery during and after a game. Players often experience muscle fatigue during games and workouts, which may affect their level of performance. However, with the muscles in place, it can prevent injuries and muscle pulls. Over the years, we’ve seen several NBA players wear compression shirts but it seems some cannot do without it. But Anthony Davis comes first on the list of the most notorious compression shirt wearer in the league. Because of that, some curious people have flooded forums with this particular question, “Why does Anthony Davis wear that compression shirt every game?” Well, this is because he has suffered several injuries right from his rookie season. He revealed that he had a torn labrum in his left shoulder since his rookie season but he didn’t go for surgery immediately. When the pain got worse, AD started wearing a compression shirt to help him stabilize his ailing shoulder. So when next you see him playing with a shirt under his jersey, you should know that he’s not doing it for fashion. Do you know any other NBA players who wear compression shirts in every game? Drop their names in the comment below. Although there are people who believe that compression shirts do not improve players’ performance. However, it has become entrenched as part of the NBA’s standard look and players now wear it fashionably by matching it with the color of their jerseys. Even though many of them don’t wear compression with sleeves like Anthony Davis, they often wear sleeveless ones. Thank you for watching this video. PSG Already 3:0 After 27 Minutes vs RC Strasbourg - Crazy Fans Stadium Atmosphere Greeting Messi
PSG Already 3:0 After 27 Minutes vs RC Strasbourg - Crazy Fans Stadium Atmosphere Greeting Messi

PSG's first Ligue 1 match without Messi, Neymar und Ramos taking 3:0 first half lead against RC Strasbourg. The top French football club Paris St. Germain will face Racing Strasbourg on Saturday evening (9 p.m. / DAZN) not only without the newly signed Argentine superstar Lionel Messi and ex-Real captain Sergio Ramos, Brazil's exceptional talent Neymar will also be missing. The trio is not in the PSG squad for the Ligue 1 game. Coach Mauricio Pochettino had announced that Messi would not appear until the end of August. Ramos, who still suffers from calf problems, should not appear for the French capital club until the beginning of September. Neymar should also be given a longer preparation time after the Copa America. LATEST NEWS: PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino (49) had to put the brakes on fans' hopes on Friday for the time being. In a press conference before the home game against Racing Strasbourg, the Argentine coach said: "We will take it step by step to get to know each other better and so that he will be able to make his debut when he is completely fit." So the fans have to wait a little longer until the six-time world footballer enters the field for the reigning runner-up for the first time. According to Pochettino, Messi won't appear until the end of August. The Prinzenpark Stadium in Paris currently has 48,500 seats. In the season before Corona, the average was 46,911 - especially the expensive seats (200-300 euros per game) remained empty. That should change now! Messi is the new attraction in the French capital! With him, the club owners are betting on a completely sold out house. And are driving forward plans to expand the Prinzenpark to up to 60,000 spaces. In addition to Messi, new signing Sergio Ramos (35) will also miss the start of the French Ligue 1. The central defender and ex-captain of Spain's record champions Real Madrid continues to cure an injury to his calf. In addition, offensive star Neymar (29), captain Marquinhos (27), European champion Verratti (28) and Ángel Di María () against Strasbourg are probably missing. The regulars were all recently active with the national teams and recently returned to training. Paris Saint-Germain Football Club (PSG) is the most popular football club in France and one of the most widely supported teams in the world. Famous PSG fans include Nicolas Sarkozy, Tony Parker, Tom Brady, Patrick Dempsey, Victoria Azarenka, Teddy Riner and DJ Snake. Lacking a big passionate fanbase, the club began offering cheaper season tickets to young supporters in 1976. These fans were placed in the Kop K, located in the K section of the Paris stand at the Parc des Princes. Following an increase in ticket prices, Kop K supporters moved to the Boulogne stand in 1978, and the Kop of Boulogne (KoB) was born. There, the club's first Italian-style ultra group, Boulogne Boys, was founded in 1985. Other KoB groups, however, took British hooligans as dubious role models and violence rapidly escalated. PSG supporters' groups have been linked to football hooliganism ever since. PSG Ultras: PSG owners Canal+ responded in 1991 by encouraging and financing non-violent fans of the KoB stand to take place in the Auteuil stand at the other end of the Parc des Princes. The Virage Auteuil was born, alongside Supras Auteuil, its most notorious ultras. At first the measure worked but, slowly, a violent rivalry arose between the two stands. Things came to a head in 2010 before a match against Olympique de Marseille in Paris. Boulogne fan Yann Lorence was killed following a fight between groups from both stands outside the Parc des Princes, forcing PSG president Robin Leproux to take action. In October 2016, after a six-year absence, the club agreed to their return. Grouped in the Auteuil end of the stadium, the CUP currently is the only ultra association officially recognized by PSG. The ultra movement has also started to come back to life in the Boulogne stand. New groups Block Parisii, Paname Rebirth and Résistance Parisienne are trying to convince the club of relaunching the Kop of Boulogne. FAQ: Q: What's your favorite animal? A: Bears. Brentford v Valencia | 9th August 2021 | Video Diary | New Stadium
Brentford v Valencia | 9th August 2021 | Video Diary | New Stadium

Here is a short video of my recent adventure to the Brentford Community Stadium, to watch Brentford play a friendly against the notoriously tricky Spanish outfit, Valencia. Apart from some downtime while a sub was being made, there is no footage from during the match, as that sort of thing is usually 'owned' by someone these days! The video starts with a quick look at what is left of Griffin Park. Apart from some of the framework in New Road, only the shell of the Braemar Road stand remains. It was then on to the new stadium for a jolly good soaking and to enjoy the match. It all felt more homely, and more Brentford, than I was anticipating. A lot of noise can be generated, and the front rows are close to the action, so I expect there will be a great atmosphere in the stadium when competitive football returns. Enjoy!
