The home team West Indies surprised everyone by winning the opening two games and have a great chance now to seal a rare series win against India. It's a do-or-die game for India so expect another intense contest with lot at stakes for both the teams. West Indies have played like a unit in this T20I series been missing from their game for quite a long time now. Nicholas Pooran has been the standout batter while Rovman Powell has also batted well. Windies bat deep and have plenty of match-winners like Kyle Mayers Hetmyer in their arsenal which makes them a dangerous unit. On the bowling front too there are plenty of bowling options and all of them have been pretty disciplined in this series so far. the second T20I with some careless cricket at the backend and that is something they need to be vary of. Expect West Indies to come out all guns blazing again. India on the other hand need their batters to step up. They struggled big time on a slow wicket and apart from Tilak Varma other batters could not show any application. the top order as a whole has not fired and that is a worry for India. We might also see a Yashasvi Jaiswal debut in place of Gill who has played non-stop cricket recently and has struggled in this T20I series. Also it is high time a player of the caliber of Samson joins the party which could go a long way in India putting up a big total on the board. On the bowling front Yuzvendra Chahal has been fantastic to say the least but there is a possibility of Umran Malik of Avesh Khan coming in for Mukesh Kumar. It is a must-win game for this young Indian side and it is a test of character for Hardik Pandya and his boys. Let's see how things pan out. The eternal dilemma with Indian cricket in recent times has been regarding the balance between long-term planning and short-term results. During their ODI World Cup win in 2019 and the T20 title victory in 2022 England showed the benefits of having a vision without compromising on results. It is a template that the Indian team is still far away from cracking as they look to transition towards a phase beyond the Virat Kohli's and Rohit Sharma's. In that aspect the ongoing white-ball leg of the West Indies tour hasn't gone to plan for Hardik Pandya's men. They did win the ODI series but were stretched considerably and have now lost two T20Is in a row against West Indies for the first time since 2016. The fact that this has come at a time when the Caribbean side has been at arguably its lowest in terms of morale and squad strength makes the picture a lot worse for the Indian team. However like with anything there are pros and cons. The results haven't come as yet but India have been able to give game time to the likes of Tilak Varma (who has impressed straightaway) and Sanju Samson (who is yet to come to the party) as viable middle-order options. Mukesh Bishnoi and Ishan Kishan are the others who have gotten opportunities to be in the mix. With the T20 World Cup next year scheduled to be in West Indies and USA. What to expect: Another spin-friendly surface is expected at Guyana with variable bounce also expected to play a part. The forecast for the week is for rain in Guyana and this could be another key factor in the game. Being 2-0 up in the series is a position of strength for the hosts and they're unlikely to tinker with their playing XI. Ishan though scored a fighting fifty in testing conditions which are good signs for India. However India's middle order conundrum is getting mysterious day by day and we might see Samson getting a nod ahead of misfiring Suryakumar Yadav in the second ODI. West Indies on the other hand just need to find a way to apply themselves with the bat. The strike-rotation has been missing in their game for a long time now and they have been guilty of throwing their wickets in a bid to play big shots. Shai Hope has been a lone warrior in the past and he was in the first game too but the likes of Mayers Powell and Hetmyer need to take more responsibility as well. Early lunch was taken as the game was interrupted multiple times and only 3 overs were possible in the afternoon session. Siraj registered his best Test figures in the morning session as he and Mukesh did short work of the Windies middle and lower order to send them packing for 255. The Indian openers began well adding 98 runs for the first wicket. Rohit was dropped twice on 25 and 29 in the space of two overs and brought up his quickest Test half century. Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul spearheaded the innings for the West Indies in the 4th innings. The duo played sensibly and negotiated Indian pacers carefully without losing any wickets in the first hour of the last session. Rohit switched the bowling from pace to spin and it proved to be the right decision as Ashwin trapped Brathwaite (28 off 52) and Kirk McKenzie (0 off 4) in quick succession and put West Indies in a spot of bother. Blackwood joined Chanderpaul at number three and the duo played cautiously remaining unbeaten till the end of the fourth day’s play. West Indies won the toss in the first match and decided to bat first. Courtesy of Ashwin India restricted the hosts to just 150 runs in the first innings. After this the Indians put forward a solid and resilient batting effort. Riding on the brilliant starts provided by the openers India managed to put forward a brilliant and solid batting effort posting a total of 425 runs for the loss of five wickets before declaring the innings. In the second innings the Ashwin magic worked again and India dismissed West Indies for just 130 runs this time. With that India won the match by an innings and 141 runs. The visitors will look to maintain the momentum and win this match thus winning the series by a 2-0 margin in the process. This will give Rohit Sharma and his men a brilliant start to the 2023-25 WTC cycle. On the other hand West Indies will try to comeback and walk away with prestige at the end of this clash. As India stand on the brink of another series win in West Indies they'd be resting easy given their commanding performance in the opener. So much so that even a transitioning Indian team start as favorites once again in Trinidad.
