The India U17 women’s national team went down 0-3 to Japan in their AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Group B match at the Suzhou Taihu Football Sports Centre Pitch 4 on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. After a goalless first half, India conceded just before the hour mark through Yumi Hayashi (59’), and a double strike from Yuzuha Ikeda (76’, 81’) saw the four-time champions secure their second win in the group. The result takes Japan to the top of Group B with six points from two matches. India remain without a point from their opening two games, and are bottom of the group after Lebanon held Australia to a 1-1 draw earlier in the day. The Young Tigresses, however, remain alive in the tournament, and a win in the last group stage game against Lebanon on Friday could potentially be enough to seal a quarter-final berth as one of the best third-placed teams, thanks to their superior goal difference (-5) over both Group C sides — Philippines (-13) and Chinese Taipei (-14). On this episode of Highway to Hoover, Joe Healy and Mark Etheridge recap Weekend 12 around the SEC. They discuss ...
The 1st year head coach takes time to speak with the press after the Atlanta Gladiators lose by a 3-1 score to the South Carolina Stingrays. The loss ends their post-season run as they lose the series 4-2. Four of the games are decided by one goal, and while the season ends sooner than preferred, there's a lot to build upon. This marks their first post-season appearance in 4 years and they are clearly building a culture and winning environment where they expect to develop talent and compete for meaningful post-season games in May and June in pursuit of the ECHL Championship, the Kelly Cup.
The 3-1 Game 6 loss by the Atlanta Gladiators to the South Carolina Stingrays is more than marking the end of their season. It marks the end of team captain Cody Sylvester's career as he announced he would retire at the end of the 2025-26 season. After a competitive yet challenging loss (along with 4 of the 6 games being decided by 1 goal), he takes time to speak with the media about the season, his career, and what's next on the horizon.
