My Calgary Hitmen In Four - No Games 65-68 Edition (S02E13)
Not really a game recap episode that I had in mind. However I still felt an episode was warranted to at least conclude the 2019-20 WHL Regular Season for the Calgary Hitmen four games early. See the link why the WHL has decided to conclude the season when they did. It's unknown if or when the WHL Playoffs will start and with the eventual Memorial Cup Champion crowned in Kelowna, British Columbia at this point. With the WHL Standings and remaining games left for the Calgary Hitmen. It wasn't going to change things too much or if any team outside looking in would of had a shot of making the playoffs. Still with the fate of the 2019-20 WHL Regular Season now known it was at least a nice way to put a bow on the season and also like last season. I've posted all the player stats for everyone that played at least a game for the Calgary Hitmen which this past season was their 25th Anniversary Season. It's too bad with recent events that it ended the way it did but hopefully there's going to be playoffs at some point. Puts them 4th in the Central Division, 1st in Eastern Conference Wild Card and 11th overall in the Western Hockey League (WHL). They would draw the Prince Albert Raiders in the first round of the 2020 WHL Playoffs under current format as the lower seed. May be a little bit of an easier opponent but more travel required. I would assuming possibly employing a 2-3-2 format. Prince Albert would host games 1 and 2. Calgary to host games 3, 4 and 5 with Prince Alberta hosting games 6 and 7. James Malm's Calgary Wranglers Penalty Shot Goal (Last Corral Goal?)
James Malm of the Calgary Wranglers on the last game of the Calgary Hitmen Corral Series was awarded a penalty shot late in the third period against the Prince Albert Raiders. The most exciting play in hockey they say resulted in a goal and was the last goal of the game and possibly the last goal scored at the Stampede Corral. While the penalty shot goal made it 8-2 for the Prince Albert Raiders in a lopsided game. Wanted to capture this moment as I've almost experienced everything that I could of wanted as part of my three game pack of the Calgary Hitmen Corral Series. One interesting tidbit is James Malm regularly wears #28 but his jersey got bloodied during the game and needed to wear a different jersey. Why you see him wearing an unnamed #17 on the play.
