What the hell happened in Lyon Vs Marseille ; Dimitri Payet Hit by Bottle, Match Abandoned Again
The Ligue 1 clash between Lyon and Olympique Marseille was abandoned after Dimitri Payet was struck in the head by a bottle thrown from the stands just four minutes into the game. The former West Ham midfielder was about to take a corner kick in front of the home fans at the Groupama Stadium, when he was hit by an object launched towards the pitch. Payet immediately appeared hurt, clutching his head in his hands and taking a few gingerly steps, before falling onto the turf. Marseille players and referee Ruddy Buquet immediately rushed over to attend to the France international, while Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes remonstrated with the home fans. Payet eventually got to his feet and was treated by Marseille's medical staff, while the referee suspended the game before eventually opting to abandon the match altogether after a suspension of almost two hours. Lyon authorities had initially ruled the game would restart, a decision which was communicated to fans by the stadium announcer. However, the French League (LFP) immediately criticised the move in a statement. The disagreement led to chaotic scenes, with Lyon players returning to the pitch to warm up while their opponents remained in the dressing room and the match was eventually called off. The stadium's announcer had initially said that the game would restart, following a decision made by local Lyon authorities. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas criticised the decision to abandon the match. 'The referee first said that the game could restart and he changed his mind after the violent reaction of Marseille, notably that of their coach,' he said. 'I believe the conditions were met to resume the game after the individual had been arrested. He is in police custody.' His Marseille counterpart Pablo Longoria said Payet was 'psychologically affected' by the incident and explained that the club had asked Buquet to check on their players before potentially resuming the game. 'We asked him to check on our players' psychological state. He did not wish to go and see the players.' The referee said that his 'sporting decision' was to not restart the game, but there were other elements to take into account. 'It's a full stadium, players to evacuate,' he said. 'My decision was to call off the game. We have to take our responsibilities and that's what I did tonight.' According to LFP, Payet, who left the pitch with an ice pack on his head, was also subject to 'discriminatory insults'. It's the second the 34-year-old has been hit by missile launched from the stands this season. Ligue 1 has been marred by crowd trouble this season, with several incidents involving Marseille. In August, Payet was struck by a projectile towards the end of the second half of his team's clash with fierce rivals Nice. He reacted angrily and had to be held back by some of his teammates, but still managed to throw the bottle back into the stands. The gesture sparked an angry reaction from Nice fans, who breached the security cordon formed by the stewards and stepped onto the pitch to confront the former Hammers man. As furious supporters stepped onto the pitch, the referee was forced to suspend the game, while Marseille players and staff stepped in to defend Payet and a fight broke out involving players and staff from both teams, fans and stewards. Marseille physio Pablo Fernandez was handed a one-year touchline ban for punching one of the Nice fans. Lens, meanwhile, were ordered to play two games at home behind closed doors after crowd trouble during their match against Lille. Giants blank Dodgers, take 2-1 NLDS lead
On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick details the San Francisco Giants' thrilling 1-0 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers in LA. In a game that heavily favored the Dodgers because of the pitching match-up, Alex Wood out-dueled Max Scherzer. Scherzer allowed a solo home run to Evan Longoria, and that was the only scoring in the game. Wood pitched into the fifth inning, and manager Gabe Kapler aggressively deployed Tyler Rogers to finish out the frame. He did, and he also pitched the sixth and into the seventh. Jake McGee relieved him, and got two critical outs. Brandon Crawford saved the day with a leaping catch on a Mookie Betts line drive. Then, rookie Camilo Doval got the final six outs in order to close out the 1-0 shutout. Gavin Lux thought he tied the game with two outs in the ninth, but strong wind at Dodger Stadium may have kept the ball in the yard. Regardless, both teams dealt with the wind all night. Longoria hit his home run through it, and Mike Yastrzemski was similarly robbed in the sixth. The win sets the Giants up to potentially clinch the series on Tuesday night. Anthony DeSclafani will start for San Francisco, with the Dodgers yet to announce a starter. Oui mais non.Entre l'équipe que l'on va qualifier d'équipe type et celle d'hier soir, il y a eu pas moins de 6 changements ! Du coup les automatismes ne sont pas les mêmes et nous l'avons bien remarqué. Ceci dit ça n'a pas empêché les Marseillais d'avoir le monopole du ballon et de se procurer les 2 occasions les plus dangereuses de ce match.C'est vrai que l'on a presque pris l'habitude de gagner tous nos matchs. Au vue de la physionomie du match on se demande si on a vraiment gagné 1 point à l'extérieur ou si on en a perdu 2 ?En analysant la possession et les 2 actions franches sauvées par l'excellent Bernardoni, on peut considérer que l'on a perdu 2 points.Malgré tout, l'OM reste sur une série d'invincibilité, et à défaut d'avoir gagné ce match, cette équipe a montré de la solidité en défense et a su préserver la cage de Lopez.Lopez qui, c'est à noter a gardé sa cage inviolée en ligue 1 pour le moment.Notons aussi la solidité défensive que dégage l'équipe. Sampaoli a réussi à rééquilibrer l'équipe et l'OM prend beaucoup moins de buts que lors des 1eres rencontres.Hier on a pu revoir enfin Amavi et Caleta car sur le terrain, et ça c'est une excellentes nouvelle, j'en parlais dans une vidéo précédente et demandais plus de respect pour ces 2 joueurs. Vous pouvez d'ailleurs retrouver ces propos en cliquant sur le lien ci-dessus.Sampaoli m'a entendu et m'a écouté.Il a eu peur.Revenons en aux faits de jeu qui nous intéresse, et soyez attentif car les actions qui méritent d'être cités sont peu nombreuses.ça risque d'aller vite.depuis plusieurs rencontres démarre le match avec beaucoup d'intensité.Malgré tout on sent un OM plus prudent qu'à son habitude, les enchainements sont moins fluides et les joueurs tentent moins de jeu vertical.Et puis vient la 14e minute, Bamba Dieng récupère au forceps un ballon au milieu de terrain, et lance parfaitement Luis Henrique qui s’emmène parfaitement le ballon.Malheureusement pour lui, face au gardien, il tergiverse, tente le dribble, et se fait prendre le ballon par Bernardoni dans ses pieds.Le but était tout fait !Il aurait suffit d'une frappe enroulée du droit.Les Angevins jouent intelligemment et L'OM a plus de mal ce soir à emballer le match.On arrive directement à la mi-tempsPeu d'occasion côté OM? On continue, à la 52e minute Jordan Amavi qui glisse devant Ounahi !! Cela permet à Angers d'apporter le danger avec Bahoken qui file au but, mais excellent retour du fautif, Jordan Amavi, d'un tacle glissé engagé mais correct !Il sera remplacé 7 minutes plus tard par Luan Perez, Luis Henrique sera lui aussi remplacé par Under, tandis que Lirola auteur d'un match séduisant est remplacé par De laFuente.On ne peut pas dire que les changement aient porté leurs fruits jusque là.Jusqu'à ce que De la Fuente à la 83e minute lance parfaitement Bamba Dieng en profondeur qui se trouve face à face avec Bernardoni, la frappe du jeune sénégalais est déviée par le gardien qui sort encore vainqueur de son duelL'OM fini le match en trombe en tentant de pousser jusque dans les derniers instants.Même les entrées de Gueye et Guendouzi n'y feront rien.L'OM n'a donc pas enchainé par une victoire hier, mais cette équipe a tout de même ramené le point du nul à l'extérieur.Toujours invaincu pour le moment, nous sommes toujours 2e du classement avec un match de retard. Donc, ça reste vraiment un excellent début de saison.Un OM moins convaincant oui, mais un OM solide, et c'est bien ce que l'on retiendra de ce match à Angers.
