The Detroit Lions vs.Seattle Seahawks just took place and many observations were seen for the play on the field for week 17 of the NFL season. Who were the standouts in the game-making plays for the Detroit Lions? Who were the players who did not do well for the Lions? MicroMike breaks down all the action from week 17 Ja’Marr Chase was the big rookie of the day on Sunday. He had 266 yards and three touchdowns. That’s pretty good. In Detroit, there’s another receiver doing big things lately, and he also happens to be the god of sun. Amon-Ra St. Brown has been a delight to watch this season, and while this game was super bad and the Lions got beat like they stole something, St. Brown was a shining light that deserved to get some recognition this week, too. St. Brown did it all on Sunday. He scored a rushing touchdown, a passing touchdown and scored on a two-point conversion. All told, St. Brown finished the day with eight catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions have something special here. The Lions patchwork defense just couldn't hold up anymore I’m not saying this group was ever really that great, but more often than not, the Lions defense has kept this team in games all season long. On Sunday, the Seahawks exploited the Lions defense for all four quarters. Russell Wilson was picking on Detroit’s beat up secondary, and the Seahawks offensive line pushed the Lions’ young and inexperienced defensive line around for Rashaad Penny. Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn deserves all the props he’s received for what he’s been able to do with what’s been given to him, but there’s only so much that could have been done on Sunday. The Seahawks out-coached the Lions on Sunday, and that’s probably something that should be expected from a group that has as many championships and playoff appearances as this group does—even if the Seahawks haven’t been that good this season. Top-two pick There was some good news on Sunday, Lions fans. The Lions’ loss guaranteed the team a top-two draft pick in April’s draft. That essentially means that after the Lions shocked the Packers with a win (they probably won’t) in Week 18, they will still have a top two draft pick. The Lions still have a shot at the first pick if they lose to the Packers and the Jaguars find a way to beat the Colts. There is some good news, though. BREAKING: Lions Claim WR Josh Reynolds Off Of Waivers Formally Of The Tennessee Titans & Rams
The Detroit Lions have claimed former WR Josh Reynolds of the Tennesee Titans and LA Rams off of waivers. Josh Reynold reunites with Jared Goff and Brad Holmes from his time with the Rams. The Detroit Lions have used their top priority on waivers to claim wide receiver Josh Reynolds. The 26-year-old receiver was waived by the Tennessee Titans earlier this week after requesting to be moved from the team. Reynolds found himself low on the Titans depth chart and only caught 10 passes for 90 yards this year. On Wednesday morning, Lions head coach Dan Campbell mentioned that the team had discussed Reynolds in free agency, but hadn’t made a decision on whether they’d claim him. “We did (look at) Josh when he was a free agent coming out last year,” Campbell said. “We’ve talked about him. We know the player well. Certainly, (GM) Brad (Holmes) knows him even better than I do, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not right now. It just means we haven’t talked about it.” The Lions obviously need wide receiver help given that they’ve lost Tyrell Williams and Quintez Cephus to injury, and haven’t gotten the expected production out of guys like Trinity Benson, KhaDarel Hodge, and Geronimo Allison. One benefit of Reynolds is that he has a history with Lions quarterback Jared Goff. In four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, Reynolds caught 113 passes for 1,450 yards and nine touchdowns. “Josh is a great player,” Goff said on Wednesday. “I saw that he was available. It’s obviously up to Brad and Dan on that, but I’m a fan of Josh’s and wherever he lands, I’m sure he’ll be great.” In a corresponding move, the Lions have assigned defensive lineman Jashon Cornell to the reserve/non-football illness list. Cornell was listed on the Lions injury report on Wednesday, ahead of this waiver claim being processed, but this move removes him from the active roster for at least the next three weeks. With Da’Shawn Hand and Kevin Strong returning from injured reserve over the last two weeks, the Lions have the depth to overcome Cornell’s absence.
