Billiat had another chance to find the breakthrough for the hosts five minutes before the break after going through on on goal, but as he was about to released his shot, Grant Kekana made a crucial tackle from behind as the sides went into the break all square. Billiat came close again to breaking the deadlock for Chiefs five minutes into the second stanza with a stinging strike that was searching for the bottom corner, but Williams was on hand to make a great save. George Maluleka finally broke the deadlock for Middendorp’s troops in the 64th minute with a dipping strike from outside the box that sailed into the back of the net, 1-0. Amakhosi had the momentum in the last quarter of an hour, looking threatening whenever they were going forward, especially with the pace of Billiat.. Kaitano Tembo shuffled his pack for the remaining stages of the second half, but Chiefs were drilled at the back and did well to thwart their opponents at every turn. Though Kaizer Chiefs wanted a home game they have instead been drawn away against ABC Motsepe side Tornado FC in the Nedbank Cup Last 32.
