In fact they've lost just three Tests (two vs Australia and one vs England) in India during that period. That's an incredible record. Ashwin and Jadeja - the spin twins - have made the visiting teams dance to their tunes. The two experienced tweakers unsurprisingly are once again expected to dominate proceedings. They will be up against an England side that's playing an exciting brand of cricket. Under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum England haven't lost a Test series and they've featured in a lot of memorable Test matches. So will 'Bazball' work against the Indian spinners in Indian conditions? Can England's inexperienced spinners be as effective as their counterparts? One thing is for sure this is going to be a cracking Test series. Hello everyone and a warm welcome to the first of the five Tests between India and England. England in 2012 were the last team to register a Test series win in India. Alastair Cook & Kevin Pietersen batted brilliantly and the England spin duo of Graeme Swann & Monty Panesar outbowled the Indian spinners to register a famous come-from-behind series win. Joe Root and Ravindra Jadeja made their debuts in that series and they've come a long way. Root is currently the second highest run-getter for England in Tests and he has an impressive record against India. He also has a Test average of 50.10 in India. Being England's best player of spin the No. 4 has a big role to play in the series. Playing fearless cricket and being positive from the word go has been the characteristic of Bazball and they certainly won't change their approach in this series especially with the bat. They've already named their playing XI which features three spinners. The left-arm spinner Jack Leach will be back in action after six months. Leggie Rehan Ahmed is just one-Test-old. And Tom Hartley another left-arm orthodox spinner will be making his Test debut. Can they trouble the Indian batters? India failed to conquer their final frontier as they lost the Boxing Day Test in Centurion but they won the New Year's Test in Cape Town inside two days to square the series in South Africa. They are back home and India will start as firm favourites. For the first time in over 12 years the Indian batting line-up will have none of Virat Kohli Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Kohli pulling out of the first two Tests due to personal reasons would have made the selection call easier. Gill Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are expected to bat at three four and five and the hosts will pick a specialist wicketkeeper. In Ashwin Jadeja and Axar Patel not only do India have three top-class spinners but they are also handy batters lower down the order. Add Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj that's a formidable bowling attack in any conditions. KL Rahul is set to feature in his 50th Test match. Ravindra Jadeja is 6 wickets away from completing 100 international wickets against England. Pitch Report | Murali Kartik and Kevin Pietersen: It's a pitch of three parts. It has very dry edges close to the bat. It's a lot more dry on this side. Here it's going to turn. In the middle of the surface second part there's an even covering of grass but it's dry underneath. Dry patches in the middle of the wicket. To the other side of the wicket there's less dry patch closer to the bat. There's going to be a lot of spin. You win the toss and bat first. The spinners will come into play very soon. Joe Root is 30 runs away from becoming the highest run scorer in Tests against India. In the first full assignment of 2024 the Men in Blue welcome Afghanistan for a three-match T20I series. The Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium Mohali will host the series opener on Thursday (January 11). Adding full stop all the questions rumours the Indian fans are over the moon see Rohit T20I captain return along with the run-machine Kohli in the squad. However the Head Coach Rahul Dravid has confirmed that Kohli will miss the opening T20I due to personal reasons. India's very own Mr 360 Suryakumar Yadav who led the side in South Africa drew the three-match series 1-1 will miss this series and the entire domestic season due to an ankle injury following which he was diagnosed with sports hernia for which the stylish right-hander will soon undergo surgery. Hardik Pandya who is deemed as India's future captain has been in the headlines for the recent trade with Mumbai Indians (MI) and being named as the franchise's skipper for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) Season despite MI retaining Rohit Sharma will miss this series as the star all-rounder continues his recovery from an ankle injury he sustained in the ODI World Cup 2023. In addition to these the management has decided to rest Ravindra Jadeja Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj while Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan miss out as well. Hitman Rohit will be opening with young dasher Yashasvi Jaiswal with Ruturaj Gaikwad (finger injury) missing out. In the absence of Kohli Shubman Gill is the next best fit for the most important number three position. Tilak Varma Sanju Samson who is back in the T20I set-up after a long time and Rinku Singh will take care of the middle order. Samson's inclusion means Jitesh Sharma might not feature despite impressive performances recently. Arshdeep Singh Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar are the preferred three-man seam attack. Either Kuldeep Yadav or Ravi Bishnoi will partner with Axar Patel in the spin department. In what was a big blow to the tourists Rashid Khan the regular T20I skipper of Afghanistan who travelled with the squad to India has been ruled out of the series after failing to prove his fitness on the eve of the opening game. Rashid missed the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) due to lower-back surgery and also missed the recently concluded three-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Ibrahim Zadran will lead the Afghan Atalans for the second consecutive series with a 2-1 win against UAE in the recently concluded assignment being the first. Mujeeb Ur Rahman after being rusticated from the Melbourne Renegades squad after a few games due to the cancellation of NOCs by the Afghanistan Cricket Board is back in the camp and will hold the key for the visitors in the absence of Rashid. Noor Ahmad Qais Ahmad Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq are the rest of the known faces in the bowling department with the experienced Mohammad Nabi Karim Janat Azmatullah Omarzai and Gulbadin Naib are the all-rounders. Rahmat Shah Rahmanullah Gurbaz Najibullah Zadran and Zazai are the top batters who have been putting consistent performances for the touring party. Afghanistan in pursuit of its first win against India will come hard at the hosts with healthy IPL experience on its back. Can they spring a surprise on India and hinder their final leg of World Cup preparations? Rohit is set to join Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order. And with Kohli unavailable in Mohali Shubman will take the No.3 spot. Samson might take the gloves after his century show in South Africa. It was an extraordinary day of Test match cricket as ball dominated the bat yesterday. India get the first-innings lead. It was the pace bowler's paradise as 23 wickets fell on the first day for 270 runs. At the end of it all the Test match is nicely poised with India having their slight noses in front but South Africa are not out of it by any means. Today's play will be crucial for both sides. Let's recap you how day 1 panned out. The Proteas lost de Zorzi and Stubbs cheaply. It was South African skipper Dean Elgar who won the toss and elected to bat first on a challenging surface. Little did he know what was to follow thereafter. South Africa were blown away by a certain Mohammed Siraj as wickets fell at regular intervals. Only two players crossed double digits in David Bedingham. Kyle Verreynne as they scored 12 and 15 respectively. The rest of them fell for single digits as South Africa were bowled out for 55 in the first session of play in 23.2 overs. Mohammed Siraj was the star of the show with figures of 6/15 in 9 overs. Mukesh Kumar picked up a couple of wickets in his 2.2 overs. While Jasprit Bumrah picked up a couple of wickets for 25 runs in 8 overs. Only 4 bowlers were required to be used by the Indians. In reply India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck. Shubman Gill and skipper Rohit Sharma built a partnership of 55 runs for the second wicket with Rohit scoring 39 off 50 balls while Shubman Gill scored 36 off 55 balls. Both getting starts and getting out. Virat Kohli came in and looked at ease as he held the innings together with his 46 off 59 balls and top scored in the innings. India were 153/4 at one stage but then shockingly lost 6 wickets for 0 runs in a span of 12 balls to be bowled out for 153 with an overall lead of 98 runs. Wickets were shared by the South African pacers. Kagiso Rabada Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger all picked up three wickets apiece while there was a run out in the innings as well. Faced with a deficit of 98 runs South Africa put on an improved batting display. The openers Aiden Markram Dean Elgar put on 37 runs for the first wicket. Dean Elgar in his final innings fell for 12 to Mukesh Kumar. David Bedingham has just come into the crease. Aiden Markram is holding the innings together with his 36* off 51 balls as South Africa ended Day 1 in their second innings at 62/3 after 17 overs. Shubman Gill completes 1000 Test runs. Three bowlers used by India so far in this innings. Mukesh Kumar picked up a couple of wickets while Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Tristan Stubbs with a beauty. Siraj is still wicketless while Prasidh Krishna is yet to be introduced into the attack. South Africa win the toss and opted to bat first India make two changes whereas South Africa make three. Tristan Stubbs making his Test debut Elgar opens the batting in his final Test. Siraj draws first blood by dismissing Markram on two Elgar chops one back onto the stumps to give Bumrah his first and fall on four Debutant Stubbs departs on three as the Indian pace duo of Bumrah and Siraj breathed fire South Africa were reduced to 15/4. As a strangle down leg ended de Zorzi’s stay at the crease on two. Rohit starts positively and hits Ngidi for three boundaries in the second over KG Rabada draws first blood for South Africa by dismissing Jaiswal on a duck. Burger is greeted with three boundaries by the Indian skipper 50 comes up for India in the eighth over. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. India vs South Africa 1st Test Day 1 Live Scores This Match Will be Played at SuperSport Park Centurion from 26th December to 30th December 2023 This Match Will Start at 1.30pm From Indian Standard time. One between Australia and Pakistan is going on amidst the rain threat at the famous MCG while the other is all set to take place at the SuperSport Park in Centurion between the hosts South Africa and India. This is the opening Test of the two-match series and two teams are getting ready for a battle of the pacers. Mukesh Kumar is seen bowling on the side pitch. The wet patches are being dried using a hair-dryer. The festive season is in the air and as we eagerly await the arrival of the New Year it's time for some serious business on the cricket field. Following the conclusion of the limited-overs series South Africa and India now meet in the highly anticipated Freedom Trophy. The two-match Test series begins with the Boxing Day Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion before the action shifts to Cape Town for the second and final Test. This series marks the start of South Africa's Test Championship cycle and they will be looking to start the campaign with a win. The Proteas will be led by their permanent Test captain Temba Bavuma and he will be keen to lead by example throughout the series. The hosts have a lethal pace attack in Gerald Coetzee Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi. Keshav Maharaj is the lone spinner in the squad while Nandre Burger. Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen form the all-rounder options. The bowling line-up seems settled but the batting will be put to the test in this series. All eyes will be on Dean Elgar who has decided to hang up his boots after this series and will be hoping to end his career on a high. Alongside Elgar and Bavuma Aiden Markram will have to shoulder the responsibility while Tony de Zorzi and Keegan Petersen are among. Rohit Sharma Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will form the core of India's top order while Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer will solidify the middle order. In all likelihood KL Rahul will don the gloves in what will be his first Test since February 2023. Ravindra Jadeja is always a force to be reckoned with with the ball and he also makes his presence felt with the bat more often in Tests than in the two white-ball formats. In the bowling department. The last time these two sides met in a Test series in the Rainbow Nation India came very close to creating history but South Africa recovered from an early setback to win the series 2-1. The stage is set for what promises to be a real cracker of a series between two giants. Who are you backing to land the first blow in this Boxing Day Test? It is confirmed now- Krishna is debuting for India in Test cricket. He receives his Test cap from the Bumrah. Pitch Report | Shaun Pollock: "It's a decent grass covering and South Africa is hoping for some movement. However they prefer to bat first since the pitch tends to slow down and become unpredictable as the game progresses. Considering the anticipated weather conditions it wouldn't be surprising if they opt for a spinner. With a significant amount of expected rain the playing conditions are unlikely to undergo substantial changes. Winning the toss and capitalizing on the initial period would be crucial." Ravi Shashtri: "Opt for batting first and endure the initial two hours. Even if you find yourselves two wickets down by lunch you'll be well-placed to reach a total of 280 or 290. Despite the seemingly green pitch there's more to it than meets the eye and persistence is key. Given the prevailing weather conditions consider fielding three fast bowlers an all-rounder and a spinner." Virat Kohli Rahul Dravid and Jasprit Bumrah are bowling on the side pitch now. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Download Probo & Earn Money:- https://probo-in.onelink.me/1kre/RJRaunacDec20 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The recently concluded IPL 2024 auction in Dubai left cricket enthusiasts buzzing with excitement and, at the same time, raised eyebrows over the staggering sums bagged by some foreign players compared to their Indian counterparts. Australian players like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Travis Head emerged as the big winners, securing eye-watering crores of rupees, while Indian talents like Jasprit Bumrah and Rinku Singh found themselves undervalued in comparison. The notable disparity in auction prices has sparked a conversation about the perceived obsession of IPL teams, particularly towards Australian players. The allure of foreign talents is undeniable, with their proven track records, but questions are being raised about whether the valuation accurately reflects the on-field performance. Bumrah, often considered one of the best bowlers in the world, has consistently delivered outstanding performances for the Indian cricket team, yet his auction price pales in comparison to the likes of Starc and Cummins. Rinku Singh, a promising young Indian batsman, also faced the brunt of this imbalance. Despite his potential and domestic cricket exploits, his auction price failed to reflect the talent he brings to the table. This has prompted discussions about the need for a more balanced approach in valuing both Indian and foreign players to ensure a level playing field in the IPL. The video commentary also delved into the Mumbai Indians' captaincy saga, focusing on the sudden announcement of Hardik Pandya as captain, seemingly sidelining the seasoned Rohit Sharma. The move raised eyebrows, with speculations arising about the team dynamics and potential discord within the squad. The video suggests that the abrupt captaincy decision may have inadvertently insulted Sharma, who has been an integral part of Mumbai Indians' success over the years. In contrast, the video highlights the stability in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captaincy, with the evergreen MS Dhoni continuing to lead the side. While other teams have witnessed a revolving door of captains, Dhoni's consistent presence at the helm of CSK speaks volumes about his leadership and the trust the franchise places in his capabilities. The cricketing community is left pondering whether the focus on foreign players and the captaincy drama in Mumbai Indians is a winning strategy or a potential pitfall. The video aims to ignite a conversation on the need for a more nuanced approach to team-building, ensuring that talent, irrespective of nationality, is rightfully valued. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your 1 Like motivates us to make more such informative videos and share our thoughts with all of you. What appears is that even if their team doesn’t have the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma Virat Kohli Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami for a series or two the crowd proudly wears the blue jersey to witness them play consistent cricket. India now face South Africa in a three-match T20I series beginning Sunday (December 10) at Kingsmead Durban. The second T20I will be played on December 12 at St George's Park Gqeberha while the third and final game is scheduled for December 14 at New Wanderers Stadium Johannesburg. In the absence of Rohit and the injured Hardik Pandya Suryakumar Yadav will be the stand-in skipper. It’s pertinent to mention that Suryakumar led India in the T20Is against Australia too. Shubman Gill who was rested for the Australia series is back in the mix. Both Rohit and Virat Kohli requested a break from the white-ball leg of the tour after a jam-packed three months. Ravindra Jadeja makes a return and so do Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj. Jadeja is also named vice-captain for the series. India will know they need a complete team performance against South Africa who’ll be high on confidence after some dominating displays in the ODI World Cup. Kagiso Rabada and Temba Bavuma have been left out. Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen will miss the third T20I. The mentioned players aim to focus on the high-octane two-match Test series against India starting December 26. Lungi Ngidi who initially was part of the T20I squad for the opening two games has been ruled out of the entire series due to a left ankle sprain. Ngidi is being closely monitored. Skipper Aiden Markram Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller form a strong Protea middle-order. Meanwhile Anrich Nortje and Wayne Parnell continue to recover from their stress fracture and shoulder issue respectively. Both teams missing some key players may not be a bad thing because it will allow them to test those who are otherwise on the bench. Since the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 India have competed in six T20I series against five different opponents. They beat New Zealand (2) Sri Lanka Ireland and Australia but lost to the Windies. At the Asian Games India didn’t drop a game. The final against Afghanistan was washed out. By the virtue of being the top-seeded team India won the gold medal. After suffering a group-stage exit at the last year’s World T20 South Africa have played only two 3-match T20I series three games each against Australia and the West Indies. The Proteas suffered a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Australia. The 2021 T20 World Cup champions while they lost 2-1 to the two-time winners (in 2012 and 2016) Windies. South Africa vs India 1st T20I Which team will come out on top? Cloudy with a chance of rain. That followed the Australians finding a way to humble hitherto unbeaten India in the ODI World final in Ahmedabad on November 19. India's men's side have offered an answer to that question by claiming four victories in the five T20Is they played against Australia in the past not quite three weeks. What to expect: A slowish but fair surface which could be enlivened by the 15 millimetres of rain that has been forecast for a stormy morning. Anticipate also a farewell for Wilson Ngobese who joined Kingsmead's ground staff in 1975 and has been the head curator since 1999. This will be Ngobese's last international pitch. Can teams move past the blow of failing to win an ODI World Cup with success in mere T20Is? Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content.
