La Vuelta 2021 Stage 5 Highlights | A Close Sprint, A Big Crash, And A New Rider In Red!
Another flat stage, and another chance for sprinters such as Fabio Jakobsen and Jasper Philipsen to increase their positions on the points classification. Whilst today’s stage is another flat one that is bound to be the victory of a sprinter, bear in mind, looks can be deceiving. With long exposed roads in between Tarancón - Albacete, the likelihood of the peloton being split into echelons and breaks seems high. An intermediate sprint is thrown in for good measure at around 130km in, mixed with unpredictable weather that will for sure result in a fast paced conclusion to the stage. La etapa 3 de la vuelta a españa 2021, 202.8 km, primera gran jornada de montaña con 3 puertos, dos de tercera y uno de primera al final picón blanco 7.6km al 9.3%, con rampas hasta del 18%, además de un sprint intermedio, el primer filtro para los favoritos y la primera gran prueba para Primoz Roglic en defensa de la camiseta roja. La etapa de ayer terminó con un potente sprint de Jasper Philipsen, donde el colombiano Sebastián Molano fue el primero en intentarlo con un gran trabajo del UAE. pero la máxima alegría fue para el del Alpecin. La etapa de hoy arrancó de Santo Domingo de Silos con Primoz Roglic vestido de líder un día más, con los demás favoritos a más de 18 segundos, Enric Mas es el más cercano al esloveno, hoy todo puede cambiar. The second day of The Vuelta a España and it seems like this may be a day for the sprinters. An inland stage that is probably one of the flattest stages in this year’s Vuelta a España, a sprint finish seems certain, with the likes of Jasper Philipsen and Fabio Jakobsen trying to put a dent in the points classification. Mark Cavendish aimed to take a dream record 35th Tour de France victory on his favourite finish in cycling - the Champs-Élysées - wearing the green jersey as leader of the points competition. It wouldn’t be straightforward though, along with sprinters like Wout van Aert and Jasper Philipsen, breakaways always try to take the stage victory here. Could he take the record from Eddy Merckx or would it be a fairytale too far? Just as it has done every year since 1975, the 2021 Tour de France will draw to a close with a procession into the French capital, followed by a criterium-like finish on the iconic Champs-Élysées circuit. This stage is the unofficial sprinter’s World Championships and a prize that every fastman wants on his palmares. Several of the top sprinters lining up for this year’s race have already tasted success here, but there are many that still have a glaring, Champs-Élysées-shaped hole on their record.
