Georgia finds new balance in offensive attack against Missouri

It was a night in which head coach Kirby Smart’s offense “grew up from a passing standpoint”. Still, the plethora of Georgia running backs continue to keep on keeping on. Saturday, this group started slowly, but finished strong. In the first quarter, Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and Brian Herrien combined for just 10 yards rushing. Mecole Hardman added a 35-yard touchdown run. A combination of symptoms triggered Georgia’s slow start. According to Hardman, the biggest obstacle to running the ball early was the energy level shown by both teams. “It wasn’t that we couldn’t run it,” Hardman said. “In the first quarter everything is so high energy and [Missouri] has a great d-line, so we had to wear them down.” In addition that energy, a solid defensive Missouri defensive line, there is the fact that this is the SEC and defending the run is a conference staple. “It’s hard running the ball in this league, I keep telling y’all it’s hard to run the ball,” Smart said. “Early. you have to earn it. You have to get the hard yards. You have to pound it. If you keep chopping, it will usually pay off with the backs we’ve got, but you aren’t just going to walk out there and have success running it in this league. Featherstone Rovers 18, Batley Bulldog 12 TEASER - Championship (07/07/2013) HD
Featherstone came from behind to gain a precious 18-12 win over Batley to maintain the pressure on Kingstone Press Championship leaders Sheffield Eagles. Batley led 12-10 at half-time thanks to tries from full-back Miles Greenwood and winger Greg Johnson, both goaled by Tom Hemingway, but hooker Andy Ellis scored two minutes into the second half to nudge Rovers in front and they held on to complete the double over the Bulldogs. Steve Crossley and Ian Hardman had scored first-half tries for Featherstone, who are just a point behind the Eagles and one in front of Halifax.

Featherstone look set to top the Championship for the third season running after securing a 28-28 draw at Sheffield. Daryl Powell\'s side are four points clear of second-placed Halifax with two games remaining as a result, and have completed the regular campaign without losing an away game. Tangi Ropati touched down five times and Greg Worthington grabbed a hat-trick as Featherstone smashed Swinton 86-12 in a 15-try blitz. The Lions actually took the lead through Alex Hurst but Worthington and Ropati\'s efforts along with further scores from Andy Kain, Sam Smeaton, Liam Finn (two), Ian Hardman, Jon Grayshon and Matty Dale gave Featherstone a thumping win.
