MAKING STATEMENTS ON AND OFF THE FIELD | NWSL Challenge Cup Week 1 Recap ft. Alex Campbell
The NWSL Challenge Cup got off to a pretty crazy start between great games, a fight that spilled over to Twitter, and the horrible incident of racism that Sarah Gorden and her boyfriend faced at BBVA Stadium in Houston. I was joined by Alex Campbell, a Chicago soccer guru and Red Stars insider, who gave his perspective on the Sarah Gorden incident, how it will affect Chicago Red Stars moving forward, and the notable player who has not shown support for Gorden. We also talked about the Morgan Weaver Kristen Edmonds fight and all of its fallout, especially from Portland Thorns Twitter account. Shifting to the games, we also handed out Week 1 awards for best goal, biggest surprise and "who won the week," highlighting Racing Louisville FC's epic first game and Trinity Rodman's goal on her debut.
