He did finally manage to open his account against South Africa, but it was either hit or miss from the southpaw. He scored 15, but didn't look settled. No big performances from Tilak Varma either. He has looked like a shadow of himself in this marquee event. The bowling was good to start with. Jasprit Bumrah bowled a world-class spell. Arshdeep Singh did what he does best. India had South Africa on the mat at 20/3, but they allowed the likes of David Miller, Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs to lead a recovery and finish well. Varun Chakaravarthy had a rare off day. Dube, Washington Sundar and Pandya didn't have much to show with the ball either as they were all taken to the cleaners, not backing up the dream spells from Bumrah and Arshdeep. On the other hand, Zimbabwe punched above their weight, dominating the likes of Australia and Sri Lanka in Group B. After achieving one of their goals of making it into the Super 8s, the Sikandar Raza-led unit started focusing on the ultimate goal, but it had very little clue about what was about to come.
