🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: Emanuel Navarrete's controversial victory over Charly Suarez took a dramatic turn after the California State Athletic Commission unanimously overturned the result, declaring the bout a no-contest and prompting the WBO to order an immediate rematch. The championship clash unfolded on May 10 at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, where Navarrete appeared to retain his WBO junior lightweight title after the fight was stopped at the start of the eighth round. A ringside physician ruled the champion unfit to continue because of a deep cut above his left eyebrow. Referee Edward Collantes determined the injury was caused by an accidental clash of heads, sending the fight to the scorecards, where Navarrete escaped with a narrow technical decision by scores of 77-76, 78-75, and 77-76. But the controversy exploded moments after the final bell. Newly surfaced replay footage clearly showed that the fight-ending cut had been opened by a clean punch—not a head clash. The incorrect ruling completely changed the outcome. Had the blow been ruled correctly before the official decision, Charly Suarez would have been crowned the new WBO champion by technical knockout after Navarrete was ruled unable to continue. Instead of celebrating a title-winning upset, Suarez was denied victory, forcing the commission to erase the result and set the stage for a high-stakes rematch. --- Footage rights provided by WSC Sports - https://tinyurl.com/anythingboxing #BoxingHighlights #Undisputed #Knockout #FightNight #Boxing #BrutalKO #BoxingClips #ko #boxingnews #boxinglegends #usa #knockout #fight #mexico #navarrete #MMA #pinoy #filipino
