Discurso de Fernando Clavijo en el acto institucional Dia de Canarias
El Gobierno autónomo celebró en el Auditorio Alfredo Kraus de la capital grancanaria el acto institucional del Día de Canarias, bajo la presidencia de su titular Fernando Clavijo. Durante la ceremonia se entregaron los Premios Canarias, que en la presente edición han sido otorgados a la Asociación de Niños con Cáncer Pequeño Valiente (Acciones Altruistas y Solidarias), José Naranjo Noble (Comunicación) y a Luis Mateos López Rivero (Internacional). La cita también incluyó la concesión de Medallas de Oro, una distinción que se concede cada año a las personas, corporaciones e instituciones que, dentro o fuera del Archipiélago, se hayan hecho merecedoras del reconocimiento del pueblo canario. Este año han sido otorgadas a Ángela Delgado Díaz (presidenta de la Asociación de Agricultores y Ganaderos de Canarias); al embajador americano en España, James Costos; el Colegio La Salle San Ildefonso; al Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria; el productor cinematográfico Andrés Santana; al diseñador de vestuarios Francisco Delgado; a la ONG española en la isla de Lesbos Proactiva Open Arms, y a la poetisa Elsa López. En el transcurso del acto, que fue retransmitido en directo por la Radio y Televisión Canaria, así como por RNE, se ofreció un espectáculo musical titulado ‘País Adentro’, en el que participaron más de medio centenar de artistas y cuya producción ha sido encargada por el Gobierno de manera específica para este acto. Se trata de un ejercicio de excavación sonora sobre la memoria musical de Canarias, condensado en veinte minutos y con acompañamiento de una proyección audiovisual.
