Michael Beasley, one of the most gifted scorers ever, a Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 Freshman of the Year, McDonald’s All-American Game MVP, BIG3 Champion, back-to-back BIG3 MVP, and one of the best one-on-one players in basketball, joins Club Shay Shay. Beasley reflects on growing up in Maryland, surrounded by family members who were incarcerated, including his grandfather, father, and uncle. He shares how basketball became his outlet after shooting his first shot at three years old and beginning organized basketball at eight. He explains how being oversized for his age shaped the way people viewed him and how he often felt misunderstood. He reveals that meeting Kevin Durant changed his basketball life. Durant pushed him into the gym, taught him the language of basketball, and helped sharpen his competitive drive. Beasley also discusses living with Nolan Smith’s family during his teenage years and how those relationships helped shape the player he became. Beasley opens up about his father, saying he later learned the truth about why their relationship was limited as a child. He explains how that revelation created distance between him and his mother before learning of her cancer diagnosis. He also discusses the famous story of stealing pizza on the first day he met Kevin Durant. Beasley discusses time spent at Kevin Durant’s house, saying KD constantly talked basketball even as a kid. He also speaks on Lethal Shooter, remembering him as an elite shooter long before today’s NBA embraced deep threes. On AAU basketball, Beasley says money has changed youth sports, with too many families chasing profit instead of development, discipline, and love for the game. He also describes how some coaches profited from his talent while his family still struggled financially. He talks about attending six high schools, being on his own at a young age, and dominating everywhere he played. Beasley then revisits winning the McDonald’s All-American Game MVP over Derrick Rose, James Harden, O.J. Mayo, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan after using being ranked No. 6 by ESPN as motivation. He praises Rose’s athleticism, O.J. Mayo’s skill, Blake Griffin’s power, and Kevin Love’s passing. Beasley reflects on his legendary freshman season at Kansas State, where he broke Carmelo Anthony’s freshman double-double record and outproduced Kevin Durant statistically. He names his all-time one-and-done starting five as Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Zion Williamson, and Anthony Davis. He also discusses NIL, saying he wanted to stay in college longer but outside influences pushed him to the NBA. Finally, he revisits the 2008 NBA Draft and says he believes he would have been the No. 1 overall pick if the Chicago Bulls had not won the lottery and selected Derrick Rose. #ClubShayShay #MichaelBeasley #KevinDurant Buy LePortier: https://leportiercognac.com/products/shay_vsop_750ml/ SUBSCRIBE to get the latest Club Shay Shay content: https://www.youtube.com/c/ClubShayShay?sub_confirmation=1 Listen to the Club Shay Shay podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/club-shay-shay/id1531023690 Listen to the Club Shay Shay podcast on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/060hDdnydsJyMi17TmvyAh?si=iuda1z7oTE-21ZYzwiUdhg&nd=1 Like Club Shay Shay on Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/ClubShayShay/ Follow Club Shay Shay on Twitter: https://x.com/clubshayshay?s=21&t=PF1soCgsTT_NEerDJm9Lfg Follow Club Shay Shay on Instagram: https://instagram.com/clubshayshay?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Follow Shannon Sharpe on Twitter: https://x.com/shannonsharpe?s=21&t=PF1soCgsTT_NEerDJm9Lfg Follow Club Shay Shay on Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@clubshayshaypod?_t=8fJ79WZy2fb&_r=1 About Club Shay Shay: Club Shay Shay is a weekly podcast hosted by Shannon Sharpe – 3x Super Bowl champion, member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and co-host of First Take on ESPN. Full game recap and highlights from the Denver Nuggets vs Dallas Mavericks as Denver returns home on the second night of a back-to-back in one of their toughest schedule stretches of the season. Playing on limited rest after a late arrival, the Nuggets had to dig deep against a high-powered Mavericks team. Early on, you could see the fatigue. Denver started a step slow defensively, allowing Dallas to find rhythm from the perimeter, but strong ball movement on offense kept them in it. Jamal Murray set the tone immediately, attacking with confidence and carrying the scoring load while the rest of the lineup found their footing. Even when the offense stalled briefly after rotations shifted, Murray’s presence kept Denver within striking distance. The second quarter is where things took off. With Nikola Jokic back on the floor orchestrating, the Nuggets offense opened up in a big way. Quick outlet passes, unselfish play, and perimeter shooting sparked a major run. Murray caught fire from deep, knocking down multiple threes and completely flipping the momentum. Denver tightened things up just enough defensively to create separation and head into halftime with control. Out of the break, the intensity picked up on both sides. Jokic continued to dominate the flow of the game, creating easy looks and controlling the tempo, but the Mavericks refused to go away. Dallas capitalized on fouls and defensive lapses to chip into the lead, turning it into a back-and-forth battle. Every time the Nuggets looked ready to pull away, the Mavs answered, keeping the pressure on heading into the fourth. And then it became the Jamal Murray show. In the final quarter, Murray elevated to another level, hitting tough shots, attacking the rim, and delivering in big moments as the Mavericks closed the gap. Dallas made a late push with timely three-point shooting, turning it into a one-possession game, but Denver responded with clutch plays from both Murray and Jokic to maintain control. Despite the fatigue, the Nuggets never folded. This game was a statement about resilience as much as anything else. On the second night of a back-to-back, Denver executed offensively at a high level and found just enough stops late to protect home court in a high-scoring battle. Jamal Murray delivered one of his best performances of the season, exploding for over 50 points and taking over when it mattered most. Nikola Jokic anchored the offense once again, finishing just shy of another massive stat line while creating opportunities all over the floor. The biggest takeaway is simple. This team is starting to look like it’s hitting playoff form at the right time. Even with one of the most demanding schedules in the league and visible fatigue early, Denver showed the ability to adjust, lock in, and close out a dangerous opponent. Final Score: Denver Nuggets 142, Dallas Mavericks 135 Also I’m looking for a co-host or someone willing to join the show. DM me on X @IronRoadProds.
