Rangers ROW: Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes CONFRONTED opponents after fiery encounter. Steven Gerrard’s side recorded a 4-1 win in a fiery encounter to keep the pressure on Celtic. McInnes reportedly told Rangers to keep the noise down after they celebrated the victory at Pittodrie. The Daily Record claim the Aberdeen manager confronted member of the Ibrox team’s staff. The match was end-to-end with six goals and two red cards. Alfredo Morelos opened the scoring for Rangers before Sam Cosgrove equalised. A penalty put the Gers back in front before Morelos netted again but was then sent off along with Scott McKenna after being involved in an incident which saw boots and studs flying. Cosgrove netted again for Aberdeen from the penalty spot to make it 3-2 but Jermain Defoe sealed all three points for Rangers deep in injury time. After the match Gerrard admitted Morelos needs to keep his temper in check. He said: “For Alfredo to go to the next level or to improve he will have to channel his aggression. “I haven’t had the chance to analyse the incident back so I can’t tell you if Scott deserved a red or whether Alfredo did. “But they’ve had a fantastic battle up until that point. “Scott was physical with Alfredo. Alfredo was physical with him. “Two top players but unfortunately they have both ended up with red cards. “Whether they deserved it I’ll have to analyse it. If Alfredo is in the wrong then he’ll deserve the red card. “He’ll then be missing for two games and that’s how he’ll get punished because he hates missing games. “But I’m doing everything in my power to help the kid grow as a footballer and as a person. “I am not going to take the physical side away from him because he’ll get bullied out there. He’ll get bullied every game because he’s up against some strong physical players. “But for Alfredo to get to the next level and move in his career – and for people to trust him – he does have to channel it in the right way.”

‘Infuriating at times’: Some Sunderland fans want more from one key player. Josh Maja scored for Sunderland against Bristol Rovers. Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Josh Maja against Bristol Rovers at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon. Maja featured for Sunderland in their 2-1 win against Rovers at home in League One. The 19-year-old forward scored in the 49th minute of the match, and it proved to be the winning goal. The youngster has made 18 starts and two substitute appearances in League One for Sunderland so far this season, scoring 12 goals in the process, according to WhoScored. Against Rovers on Saturday afternoon, Maja could have done better in terms of attempts and link-up play, but the youngster scored the all-important winning goal. The win means that Jack Ross’s side are now third in the League One table with 43 points from 20 matches, five points behind leaders Portsmouth, who have played 22 games. Sunderland fans were pleased with the performance of Maja, but some want the 19-year-old forward to add more to his game. Below are some of the best comments on Twitter: My take on the Maja stuff. For me if his hold up play was better Ross would keep him on the field, rarely if we are winning does he play 90 mins and that surely comes down to his work rate. On the other hand he bangs goals what he's there to DO #SAFC Josh Maja’s finishing is mad. As soon as he got the ball in the box there was no doubt he would score. Don’t want to criticise but wish he could do everything else! #safc Models his game around Defoe, easy to tell when you watch him A great comeback for Sunderland today, to beat Bristol Rovers 2-1. Still 3rd though, but with two games in hand... It shows just how important Josh Maja is to the team. We've got to keep hold of him next month... #safc #HawayTheLads We need to get that Maja contract tied up, can’t see why he wouldn’t. If he keeps banging them in, we get promoted, it’s win win. #safc I really hope we don’t lose Maja and Gooch in January. It’ll be similar to last year when we lost Grabben, love or hate him, we struggled for goals in the second part of last season and look what happened Josh Maja has a few holes in his game which could improve like but he’s class for us at this level. I hope he stays and turns into the striker he has the potential to be #SAFC josh maja keeps getting better and better each game #SAFC McGeady & Maja are both infuriating at times but can’t complain with their contribution this season - 19 goals between them and think that puts McGeady on 5 assists now?! https://t.co/BRGEDRowOA
