Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Arsenal | Goals and highlights
Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Arsenal | Goals and highlights

We had to settle for a point in the north London derby after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed a late penalty. Aubameyang, on as a substitute, saw Hugo Lloris push away his spot-kick and was then denied from a yard out after Alex Iwobi was first to the rebound. Aaron Ramsey gave us the lead in his final north London derby with the coolest of finishes. The Wales midfielder - scorer of two FA Cup final winners on this ground - ran through from inside his own half and feinted to shoot before nipping around Lloris and slotting the ball into the net. Alex Lacazette had our best chances either side of that, and Iwobi tested Lloris with a curler, but Tottenham came on strong at the end of the first half. Bernd Leno Bernd Leno Harry Kane had a header ruled out for offside and Bernd Leno made a terrific double stop to deny Christian Eriksen and Moussa Sissoko. We expected a Spurs onslaught after the break but it never materialised as we kept our shape and kept them at arm’s length. That just made the home side’s equaliser all the more galling. Kane was again in an offside position when a free-kick was floated into the box, but he was awarded a penalty after a nudge from Shkodran Mustafi. Kane got up to beat Leno from the spot, and unfortunately Aubameyang couldn’t follow suit. Harvey Elliott makes professional debut at 15 as Fulham ease past Millwall
Harvey Elliott makes professional debut at 15 as Fulham ease past Millwall

Carabao Cup  It was a moment to further age the hard-bitten souls in attendance. In the 81st minute of this Carabao Cup tie, Slavisa Jokanovic sent on Harvey Elliott for his professional debut. The Fulham winger was 15 years and 174 days old.  The Surrey schoolboy became the youngest player to appear for Fulham and it is also believed he became the most youthful in this competition’s history, beating the record of 15 years and 203 days set by Leicester’s Ashley Chambers in 2005. Records are a little hazy because of data protection laws. Manchester United out after Derby’s Scott Carson saves Phil Jones penalty Read more  Elliott began the day at school, taking exams – according to Jokanovic – and he finished it by showing some nice touches and sharp bursts off the right flank. He will return to school in the morning on a high and with stories to tell.  “I don’t know if I use a wrong word in English but he is arrogant and positive,” Jokanovic said. “The kid shows personality, when he tells me: ‘I want to show you I am a very good player.’ I say: ‘OK. If you can show me, I give you this opportunity.’ He has made a few trainings with us. We believe the future can be bright for him.”  Fulham were a cut above Millwall, particularly in the first half, when they ought to have led by more than the one goal, which was scored by Joe Bryan. Millwall chased shadows and the frustration among a low home crowd was palpable. Neil Harris’s team were booed off at the interval.  Luca de la Torre, the man of the match and another Fulham academy product, added the second and although Millwall hinted at the unlikeliest of comebacks when Tom Elliott forced home from a corner, Cyrus Christie smoothed the Premier League club’s progress into the last 16 with a 25-yard curler.  Christie, who joined in January from Middlesbrough, collected the ball on the right before he cut inside and unfurled a left-footed classic. It was his first goal for the club.  Bryan, one of a glut of summer arrivals, had also opened his account and it was a goal to emphasise Fulham’s early dominance. De la Torre revelled in a free role behind the strikers and he ushered Bryan into yards of space inside the area. The wing-back took a touch before lashing low into the far corner. Manchester City’s Phil Foden completes win over outclassed Oxford Read more  Jokanovic made 10 changes to his Fulham team while he also switched to a back three system but there was cohesion from his stand-ins. The only blot for Fulham was their first-half profligacy. De la Torre was the biggest culprit. He had two glorious chances only to be denied by Ben Amos.  Harris made eight changes to his struggling Championship team, advertising where his priorities lay, and he switched to a 3-5-2 formation for the second half. There would be greater intensity from his players.  De la Torre got the goal he had threatened from Floyd Ayité’s low cross but Elliott’s header from Shane Ferguson’s corner briefly stirred the h

WSOC Recap | Sept. 16, 2018 vs TRU
WSOC Recap | Sept. 16, 2018 vs TRU

A second-half offensive explosion got Mount Royal's their first three points on their home ground as a four-goal second half secured them a 4-1 win against Thompson Rivers WolfPack. Cougar coach Tino Fusco commented "We're happy to get the three points," after his team's bounce-back performance. We wanted the ball more this game, we got away from that in the first game. We held more possession." Both teams started the game jabbing at one another before an array of events capped off a scoreless first half which saw the Cougars have a goal taken back due to an offside minutes before injury time. TRU's best moment of the first half came from a set piece on the edge of the MRU box in which rookie goalkeeper Rose Hemans bailed out her disoriented defence. After the initial ball, a scramble ensued and WolfPack player Marisa Mendonca was stuffed on the near post by Hemans. Shortly after, the WolfPack back-line were caught too far up the field, leading to an over-the-head lob being distributed by the Cougar midfield. Three Cougar players marched up the field but slowed their footing inside the WolfPack box. A late ball played by Erin Holt was tapped in by Haley Nicholson but the linesman waved her flag immediately, putting a halt to any celebration. Much like in their match Saturday afternoon, the Cougars started the second half like a house on fire and eventually broke down a shaky WolfPack defence. TRU faced misfortune as Camryn Curts rattled the crossbar from distance which ended up turning the tide of the game for MRU. Nicholson whipped home a free-kick in the back netting at the 68th-minute mark for her first goal of the season after WolfPack keeper Danielle Robertson couldn't tip the curled shot over her net. The Cougar onslaught began there as three more goals were buried in a span of 10 minutes. Holt's curler from the edge of the box and rookie Robyn MacDonald's first two-goal U SPORTS game secured the Cougars a 4-1 win after a consolation goal of a spot-kick was put away by WolfPack forward Mendonca in the 80th minute. "She's been great for us all year and we look for players like that to step up," Said Fusco on the performance of MacDonald. The WolfPack visit the Vikes in Victoria and then UBC next weekend while MRU are set to travel to Saskatchewan for a weekend set against Regina and the Huskies.
