NBA News: LaMarcus Aldridge Out For Season, Kevin Durant & Kyrie Irving Update, Roberson Returning?
The NBA is gearing up for a return to play in Orlando Florida at the end of July. Twenty two NBA teams have been invited to play in eight regular season games leading up to the NBA Playoffs. One of those teams that will be fighting for the 8th seed and a chance to play in the NBA Playoffs is the San Antonio Spurs. Unfortunately for DeMar DeRozan and the Spurs, they will be without big man LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge had to have shoulder surgery in April, which will now cause him to miss the remainder of the 2019-20 NBA season. Aldridge is now 34 and has not been fully healthy since moving onto the San Antonio Spurs from the Portland Trail Blazers. He has one more year left on his contract before he enters free agency once more time. Want more of your favorite NBA team covered 24/7? Then subscribe to Chat Sports! One player that may help them do that is Andre Roberson, who has not played in a game since January of 2018. Roberson is an elite wing defender, although he has not provided much on the offensive end of the floor in his time with Oklahoma City. Whether Roberson returns or not, the Thunder have a lot of young wings on the roster like Luguentz Dort, Darius Bazley and, the most talented of them all, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. STAY SAFE! NBA Face Coverings are available at https://chatsports.com/NBAmask You can get a 3-pack of your favorite team's face masks for ONLY $24.99! The Brooklyn Nets currently hold a small advantage over the Orlando Magic and the Washington Wizards for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. They will have to hold onto that seventh seed or continue to move up, however, without the help of Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant. Durant was never expected back after blowing out his achilles last season with the Golden State Warriors, but there was a chance Kyrie Irving could have played when the season resumed. The Nets and Kyrie Irving have both now confirmed that he will not play when the NBA returns in July. However, they have quite a few questions to answer this off-season when it comes to NBA Free Agency and the 2020 NBA Draft. All signs point to Davis returning to LA but it’s up in the air on whether that will be a short or long-term deal. While LeBron James and Co. would like to lock up AD long-term, it might be more likely that the 26 year old star signs a 1-year deal if the salary cap is affected negatively due to “The Big C.” SUBSCRIBE to our Lakers-only YouTube channel to stay updated on all of the latest Lakers news & rumors! Kuz entered the 2019-20 seasons with expectations to be the 3rd star to pair with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, Kuzma hasn’t been as productive as many hoped after his first two seasons in the league. NBA Draft 2020: Lakers 1st Round Draft Targets | Los Angeles Lakers Rumors & News
This Los Angeles Lakers draft video originally aired on our Lakers-only YouTube channel at http://youtube.com/lakerstv You can stay up with the latest Lakers rumors & Lakers news with the Lakers report! Subscribe today! On NBA Now, Jimmy Crowther takes a look ahead to the 2020 NBA Draft. As it currently stands, the Los Angeles Lakers would have the 29th overall pick in the NBA Draft, which would provide them with the opportunity to add high-quality draft talent at the end of the first round. One name that has recently popped up as a potential faller in the draft is Nico Mannion from Arizona University. Nico Mannion had a good freshman year as the Arizona’s guard, but not enough to make him a surefire lottery pick. If Mannion does fall to 29, the Los Angeles Lakers should draft him and let him develop as a new playmaker off the bench along with Alex Caruso, Quinn Cook, Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley. SUBSCRIBE to our Lakers-only YouTube channel to stay updated on all of the latest Lakers news & rumors! Click to subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/LakersTV?sub_confirmation=1 Another player that was once projected as a top pick that may be sliding down draft boards is Vernon Carey Jr., who has developed into a stretch five. The Los Angeles Lakers have two centers that could enter free agency in Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee, which could make Vernon Carey Jr. a prime candidate in the 2020 NBA Draft. Vernon Carey Jr. has a big body, although he is only 6’10, but he is more than just a back to the basket big man as his ability to stretch the floor is going to make him very valuable at the next level. The Los Angeles Lakers could benefit from a big man with the versatility that Vernon Carey Jr. will bring. Follow Jimmy Crowther on Twitter for NBA content 24/7! - https://twitter.com/Jimmy_Crowther/ Jahmi’us Ramsey of Texas Tech had an outstanding freshman season for the Red Raiders. His jumpshot became one of the most reliable in college basketball, and as a great shooter, he might be perfect for the Los Angeles Lakers who are always looking to add jump shooters around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Ramsey’s game outside of his jumper leaves a little bit to be desired, but as a specialist, he makes a lot of sense as a top-20 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Tre Jones from Duke is one of the most experienced and reliable point guards in the draft this year. Tre Jones could fall anywhere from the late first round to the middle of the second round. The Los Angeles Lakers could use a smart point guard like Tre Jones to bring some playmaking ability off the bench. Another veteran point guard that is going to be available near the end of the first round for the Los Angeles Lakers is Cassius Winston of Michigan State. He is a bit turnover prone but could still provide a lot of value for a team like the Lakers that will be chasing a championship. 5 Potential Draft Prospects for the Los Angeles Lakers: Nico Mannion Cassius Winston Vernon Carey Jr. Tre Jones Jahmi’us Ramsey Make sure to follow Jimmy Crowther on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/jimmy_crowther SUBSCRIBE TO CHAT SPORTS ON YOUTUBE for the latest NBA news, rumors & much more: https://www.youtube.com/chatsportstv?sub_confirmation=1 Get all of your Lakers News and Rumors on the Chat Sports website: https://www.chatsports.com/los-angeles-lakers/ Download the Chat Sports app for iPhone or Android to follow NBA news, rumors, and scores: https://www.chatsports.com/app Follow Jimmy Crowther on Twitter and Instagram: https://twitter.com/Jimmy_Crowther/ http://instagram.com/space_jim_jam/ Follow Chat Sports on Social Media: http://www.facebook.com/chatsports http://www.twitter.com/chatsports http://www.instagram.com/chatsports #Lakers #LakersRumors #LakersNews #CSFAN2020
Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: 4 Point Guards The Lakers Could Sign in 2020 NBA Free Agency
The Los Angeles Lakers’ top priority this summer is re-signing Anthony Davis, but one upgrade the Lakers could make to their roster is at the point guard position. Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley can both become free agents with player options, which makes Alex Caruso and Quinn Cook the only other point guards under contract. If the Lakers do choose to pursue a point guard in free agency, Goran Dragic could make a lot of sense. Dragic was moved to a bench role with the Miami Heat this season, but he thrived in that role. Goran Dragic’s veteran presence and scoring ability could be a valuable addition to the Lakers’ rotation next season. Jeff Teague has been a steady veteran in the league since his stellar season with the Indiana Pacers, but since playing in Minnesota, he has been on a bit of decline. Teague’s defense and ability to get to the basket still brings value to a team, but his days as a starting point guard are beginning to dwindle. Lakers Snapback ON SALE NOW! - https://chatsports.com/Lakers20 ALL Lakers Gear up to 50% OFF! - https://chatsports.com/Lakers Kris Dunn is becoming a restricted free agent this summer with the Chicago Bulls. He has not produced the way he was expected to after being drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but he has turned himself into a steady defensive presence. Kris Dunn’s biggest weakness has been his offense, but any time he comes off the bench, he brings an immediate jolt of energy on the defensive end of the floor. If Avery Braldey declines his player option, Kris Dunn could be a very good replacement. DJ Augustin, a veteran point guard for the Orlando Magic, will be hitting the open market this summer and could be a useful player in the Lakers’ rotation. Augustin has always been undersized, but that does not stop him from being an aggressive scorer. Augustin is a steady veteran that can run an offense, and now that the Orlando Magic are beginning to groom Markelle Fultz into a starting caliber point guard, they will have little incentive to re-sign DJ Augustin, which could put him right into the Los Angeles Lakers’ lap.
