Though with the trade window still open, it is difficult to guess no matter how he pitches against Toronto here. In the nightcap of this doubleheader, the Blue Jays will counter with right-hander, Bowden Francis. Whether we are looking to take two wins in one day or are seeking a split (this write-up comes before the results of Game 1 today), the O's would love to see a positive outing from Povich and win this night cap. The Orioles were hoping to take it to a Marlins side that has one of the worst records in baseball and who sent out a spot starter who could not complete five innings and still got beaten pretty easily by Miami, 6-3. The offense scored three runs early but ran themselves into a couple of outs and then went silent from the 4th inning on. Meanwhile, Albert Suarez coughed up four runs in the 2nd inning, which proved to be enough for Miami. The bullpen did its job, not allowing another run after Suarez's departure, but again, as soon as the pitching recovered, the bats disappeared. Tonight, as of this writing, no starting pitcher has been officially announced, but the rumor is that Chayce McDermott could be called up to make his ML debut. Edward Cabrera, who has an ERA north of seven, will be on the bump for the Marlins. Who knows how a matchup like this could go. So grab a snack, a cold one or six and enjoy the ballgame. The Orioles came up short on a sweep at Texas, as the offense struggled to put it together, but after a series win in Arlington and a day off, the birds arrive in Miami tonight to take on a Marlins team that has suffered through a tough season indeed, winning only about one out of every three ballgames. So, that's the idea. Bare minimum, Baltimore will look to take the series here, and hopefully a shot at a sweep, before retuning home. Andrew Suarez will be on the mound for the O's while the Marlins as of this writing have yet to announce their starting pitcher.
