Clemson Tigers win Cheez-It Bowl
Clemson student reacts to Tigers winning Cheez It Bowl -First game getting to see Brandon Streeter take over for Tony Elliott at offensive coordinator and Wes Goodwin taking over for Brent Venables at defensive coordinator. -The Tigers have no opt outs because of the draft while the Cyclones don’t have Breece Hall or Mike Rose. -Such a shame to see James Skalski’s Clemson career end with him on the sidelines.  -Brock Purdy gets the assist for batting his blocked pass forward. I have no idea how you bat the ball up like that when trying to knock it down, but great job by the defense setting up a wall to get Mario Goodrich to the endzone.  -Andrew Booth gets hurt on a chippy play, but he was getting chippy with the Iowa State WRs from the very first drive. -DJ Uiagalelei potentially screws everything up by trying to throw back across his body on the run with plenty of Iowa State players in front of him. It was one Clemson player vs. three of four Cyclones. That’s how you blow a 20-3 lead where your defense has set you up to sail to victory. You can’t make that kind of mistake, especially after a full season of starting experience. -Crazy sequence of events with Iowa State throwing an interception on a trick play and the Clemson player fumbles but none of it matters because of a roughing the passer call.  -Clemson begins bleeding points because turnovers, poor punting, and penalties give Iowa State great field positioning. -Offense still lacks explosive plays. Streeter is calling a better game than  Elliott usually does, but the Tigers don’t have a play over 22 yards and we’re already into the fourth quarter. -It’s so weird to not have Justyn Ross, Joseph Ngata, Frank Ladson Jr., or E.J. Williams in the box score. -Will Putnam put Clemson in 2nd and 17 because he came in late with no self awareness. Then Clemson just runs a draw on 3rd and 8. I take it back, the playcalling still stinks.
