Reduced Bunch Sprint After Punchy Finale | Tour Of Romandie Stage 3 Highlights
Containing five categorised climbs and plenty of scope for attack in the closing kilometres, a breakaway will likely form on the initial Dompierre test (4.45km at 4.9%), but with the climbs to come in the second half of the stage, the peloton will want to chase them down at a frantic pace. In the final 22km, the race will head over the Dompierre, quickly followed by the Sédeilles (4.3km at 4.7%) and a 7.7km descent to the line! The difficulty of the day will be dictated almost entirely by whichever team decides to take up the work on the front of the peloton. With a blistering pace, a few stage favourites could be shelled out the back, otherwise we may see a breakaway succeed or a sprint unfold in Échallens. Topping out 11km before the finish, the final uncategorised climb is 4.8km-long and has a meagre average gradient of only 3.4%. Stage 4 could be breakaway heaven as the lumps and bumps come in abundance, promising us all an entertaining afternoon spectacle. At 25km to go, the riders will climb the Vivero ascent, which will extend for 6km at an average gradient of 6.3%. With just 19km to ride after the hill has been crested - 11km of which are pan-flat - the Vivero climb looks ideal for a race-winning attack to be made!
