Since they currently have nothing to prove the others should have opportunities to secure positions in Nos. 4 and 5. All of these are part of getting ready for the ODI World Cup which will be held at home later this year. However the outcome in Bridgetown with all respect to a tremendous West Indies comeback was a complete letdown. Now that the decider is about to take center stage Rohit and Kohli are both anticipated to be called back for the big game on Tuesday (August 1) in order to prevent a humiliating series loss. One should stand up and give the West Indies credit for their cohesive effort in their convincing victory in the second ODI. The first game of the series in which they were dismissed for 114 in just 23 overs seemed to be a case of "Men against Boys even though Rohit and Kohli did not really have much to offer. The Caribbean outfit realized their mistakes and brought Joseph and Carty back and both of them chipped in with valuable contributions to level the series. They are therefore unlikely to alter the lineup that helped them win their first match against India in three years. Contrarily the Men in Blue will need to make difficult decisions. Suryakumar Yadav was given two opportunities but the top-ranked T20I batsman did not do much with the willow. Now it is interesting to see whether he or Samson who only got one chance gets dropped in the decider to make way for Rohit. Among the rest Kohli and Jaydev Unadkat are likely to take the place of Malik and Patel who are expected to be benched after below-par outings. So which team will emerge victorious in the decider? The irony is obvious. Sixty-six days to go for a home World Cup in which they are meant to be favorites. An experimenting India have just lost an ODI rather comprehensively to a side that was recently chastened for being unable to qualify for the World Cup. India are in a situation where even their opening pair is struggling. Shubman Gill who could do no wrong a couple of months ago has had his technique splayed apart against the Dukes ball - first at the WTC Final and then in the West Indies Tests. West Indies Team news: With no injuries being reported between the two ODIs West Indies are unlikely to tinker with a combination that has worked especially given that some of the previously benched players paid off - Carty and Mayers in particular. even if it was after giving India a sniff with four wickets in a 38-run window. And at the center of the display of character were Keacy and Hope - a veteran and one of the grittier players in the team. India Team news: It's hard to predict what India will do given their experiments in the second ODI. However it's unlikely that India will stick to their guns and risk a sinking morale in the dressing room. It's likely that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play. The real question mark lies in the middle-order they might go with. For now they don't have a World Cup to look forward to. They have no distractions and can focus on beating a scatter-brained India just one more time. What to expect: This is the first game that's being played at the Brian Lara Stadium in this tour. It is known to be a true wicket and aids strokeplay a lot more than the two-paced Barbados wicket. With an Indian batting desperately in need of a get-out-of-jail card this pitch might just be the one to give them a boost. With a typical Trinidad wicket in place it has to be advantage India - and seamers of course in that brief new-ball period. India have taken a 1-0 lead in the series with a five-wicket win but would be looking to iron out their flaws in the second game while for the Windies it is a must-win game to keep the series alive. A win here will be a big boost for the Men in Maroon and let's see how they go about their business in the second ODI at the beautiful Kensington Oval Barbados. India were brilliant with the ball in the first game and hunted down Windies for just 114. The spinners did the trick with 7 wickets between them as Kuldeep took a four-wicket haul in just three overs. Mukesh Kumar the debutant also showed a lot of promise and we can expect India to go with the same bowling attack. As far as batting is concerned India were in a mood of experimentation. Ishan Kishan opened the innings while Suryakumar Yadav batted at 3. But India could not end the chase in a clinical fashion as they lost five wickets on their way. Ishan though scored a fighting fifty in testing conditions which are good signs for India. However India's middle order conundrum is getting mysterious day by day and we might see Samson getting a nod ahead of misfiring Suryakumar Yadav in the second ODI. West Indies on the other hand just need to find a way to apply themselves with the bat. The strike-rotation has been missing in their game for a long time now and they have been guilty of throwing their wickets in a bid to play big shots. Shai Hope has been a lone warrior in the past and he was in the first game too but the likes of Mayers Powell and Hetmyer need to take more responsibility as well. On the bowling front Hope will be happy with the way his bowlers fought till the end. Motie bowled beautifully and he will have to play a big role in the second game too. They might also bring Alzarri Joseph back in the XI for this do-or-die game and we might see a more resilient Windies unit in the second ODI. Let's hope for a cracking encounter. Kuldeep Yadav preferred over Yuzvendra Chahal for the first match. West Indies Team News: Keacy Carty Alzarri Joseph Oshane Thomas and Kevin Sinclair were the ones to sit out for the first game. Among them Carty is an option in the batting order with Mayers not having had a good run in ODIs of late. Carty meanwhile had scored 87 in his previous outing against Sri Lanka. Shai Hope who top-scored with 43 will be hoping for some kind of support at the other end and will expect the batters to show better application with their shot-making going forward. India Team News: The visitors may not make too many changes as they look to give the current lot another go to audition for the World Cup. They are likely to remain unchanged. They are likely to continue with such experiments both with their batting and bowling in second ODI as they look to seal the series and extend their winning streak against the West Indies in ODIs to 10 games. Mukesh was decent in his debut game while India also tried Pandya as their opening bowler with some success. What to expect: There was enough bounce and spin on offer during the first ODI helping the pacers and spinners alike. India might look to bat first should they win the toss in the second game to give their batters some challenge should the pitch turn out anything similar for the second game.
