The F1 reality that could ruin Max Verstappen's Red Bull pledge
Max Verstappen declared after the 2021 season finale he wants to stay with Red Bull for the rest of his Formula 1 career and was swiftly linked to a new long-term Red Bull contract. Verstappen has a very strong connection with Red Bull, never clearer than his emotional declaration moments after winning in Abu Dhabi and clinching the championship: “They know I love them and I hope we can do this for 10 or 15 years together. I want to stay with them for the rest of my life.” It’s a big claim, one clearly driven by emotion. The Alonso video kinda kicked things off for Driver61. He would drive in a deliberately horrible style, inducing massive understeer - heating up the famously hard-wearing Michelins to then give him grip on exit. Then there’s Schumacher - he drove the car very hard into the corner and rotated it mid-corner. This meant that he was [actually slower] mid-corner - but he more than made up for it on the entry and with a brilliant exit. —- But, now if you look at Verstappen vs Hamilton - the way they drive the car is remarkably similar. Honestly, go watch some onboards! [After this obviously - I would LOVE to include them here, but we’re not allowed.] So what’s up with that? Have they just cracked the secret to driving? Or is it the cars that mean everyone drives so similarly now? —- Well, let's look back at Senna. Over his time in Formula 1 - he drove a lot of different cars. All of which needed driving differently, so he always needed to adapt to the car. El reglamento híbrido no ha funcionado. Da igual. El dominio de un piloto y de un equipo ha sido abrumador. Es lo mismo. Muchos decimos que las carreras son aburridas. No importa. Afortunadamente hace años que no hay accidentes graves. Mejor. Pero… algo tendrá el agua cuando la bendicen… ¿Qué tiene la #Fórmula1 para seguir siendo, pese a todo, el mayor espectáculo del Mundo? He hecho muchos videos en los que critico el reglamento que, por fin, acaba en 2021. ¿Por qué? Porque me interesa la F1, porque estoy enamorado de la F1, porque me parece el máximo exponente de la competición del motor, porque desde los años 70, desde que soy consciente, la sigo año a año, carrera a carrera… porque he disfrutado mucho con ella… y porque he sufrido mucho con ella… ¿Qué tiene la F1 para ser tan adictiva? ¿Cuál es el secreto de esa capacidad de seducción? ¿Por qué es el mayor espectáculo del Mundo del #Motorsport? Precisamente es lo que quiero contaros en este vídeo… ¿Y el Mundial de Rallyes? Antes de seguir, hablemos de #rallyes. Porque muchos aficionados, periodistas y expertos ponen al mismo nivel el Mundial de F1 y el de Rallyes. Pues lo siento. No puedo estar más en desacuerdo. Adoro los Rallyes, los sigo, me alucinan… pero para mi hay un antes y un después de 1986. ¿Qué pasó en 1986? Pues ya lo sabéis, murió el Grupo B. La épica de la Fórmula 1 La Fórmula 1 es peligrosa. Sin duda el deporte del motor más peligroso, con permiso de MotoGP, y uno de los más peligrosos del Mundo. Entre pilotos fallecidos en GG.PP. en pruebas, entrenamientos, etc., podemos contar a más de 50, entre ellos verdaderos mitos como Alberto Ascari, Peter Collins, Jochen Rindt, François Cevert, Gilles Villeneuve o Ayrton Senna, por citar solo a unos pocos. Que nadie se equivoque: Nos gustan estos siete años sin accidentes mortales. Pero todos los que corren, participan y vemos la F1 sabemos que el peligro está ahí. Todo un arte. Fangio vino a Europa, según sus propias palabras, “para aprender el arduo y noble arte de conducir coches de carreras”. Porque, ¿qué es una obra de arte? Según la RAE, “Una cosa perdurable fruto del conocimiento humano, con valor bello o estético y que despierta emociones”. En la F1 cada adelantamiento, realizado con precisión milimétrica en muchas ocasiones al borde del desastre, en una obra de arte. Bueno, en realidad cada vuelta que das a un circuito en un monoplaza de F1 es una obra de arte. Os invito a ver los vídeos que hemos hecho acerca de “Lo difícil que es pilotar un F1” o “Guía práctica para pilotar un F1”. ¿Héroe, mercenario o artista? O quizás todo a la vez. Porque la magia de la F1 tiene cuatro patas: Los coches, los circuitos, los seguidores y, por supuesto, los pilotos. Porque, ¿Qué empuja a los pilotos a correr en F1? ¿La fama, el dinero, la gloria, el amor por el deporte o el hambre de victoria? Personalmente, si tuviese que elegir una sola razón, lo tengo claro: El hambre insaciable de victoria. Las dotes del Campeón. ¿Por qué es tan difícil ser Campeón del Mundo de F1? Entre otras cosas, porque tiene que tener una suma de cualidades, cada una de ellas difíciles de poseer, pero casi imposible reunir todas juntas. Por eso, para mí los grandes pilotos de la F1 son dioses. Necesitan muchas cosas: Físico, formación, capacidad de trabajo, espíritu de sacrificio, determinación y dotes de pilotaje. Alta tecnología. Me decía un ingeniero de la F1 que llevar un cohete al espacio, comparado con hacer un F1, era un juego de niños. Cuando me atreví a ponerlo en duda, su respuesta me convenció: “Es que no hay carreras de cohetes”. En la F1 están los mejores ingenieros del Mundo, los más preparados, los que cuentan con más medios. La F1 es lo más de lo más, incomparable a otros deportes. Y por eso, mucha de la tecnología que se prueba en la F1 acaba llegando a nuestros coches de cada día. Tras un equipo de F1 hay más de 1.000 personas. Se dice que en Ferrari se acercan a las 1.400 y que en McLaren hay “solo”, con comillas, unas 1.000 o 1.100. Entre ellas un grupo de mecánicos capaces de cambiar cuatro ruedas en menos de dos segundos… Conclusión Quería hacer un vídeo para poner en valor lo que significa la F1 para los aficionados, para el Mundo del motor y, por supuesto, para mí. No ha sido fácil y espero haberlo conseguido, al menos en parte. Soy un enamorado de la competición y del Mundo de motor y para mí la Fórmula 1 es la cúspide. Lamento si he ofendido a los aficionados a la resistencia, a los Rallyes o a la motos, especialidades que admiro y que adoro. Pero, para mí, la F1 es lo más… para bien… y también, en ocasiones, para mal.

Гонка без обгонов, оставившая хорошее послевкусие. В Монако Формула 1 смотрится как корова на льду, но согласитесь, очень породистая корова на очень гламурном льду. Вот и в этот раз произошло всего пару событий, но как же было ярко. А самое главное, что в турнирной таблице эта гонка навела настоящий шухер. Власти открыли доступ болельщикам из соседних стран (только со свежим отрицательным тестом на Covid-19), и хотя трибуны разрешили заполнить только на 40%, было ощущение праздника, постепенного возвращения к прежней жизни, тем более что уик-энд получился богатым на события – Гран При Формулы 1, новый формат Формулы 2 с тремя гонками, региональная Формула Alpine и Суперкубок Porsche – маршалы оперативно эвакуировали разбитые машины и борьба продолжалась. Макс Ферстаппен впервые за карьеру выиграл Гран При Монако, одержав вторую победу в сезоне и 12-ю в карьере, и впервые в истории вышел в лидеры личного зачёта, опередив Хэмилтона на четыре очка. Победа Ферстаппена и четвёртое место Переса позволили Red Bull Racing выйти на первое место в Кубке конструкторов. После пяти прошедших Гран При борьба начинается заново. Карлос Сайнс финишировал вторым, впервые поднявшись на подиум в составе Ferrari. Ландо Норрис закончил гонку третьим, заработав второй в этом году подиум для McLaren. Себастьян Феттель и Антонио Джовинацци заработали первые очки в сезоне. Типичная гонка в Монако – гонщики смогли бороться за позицию только на пит-стопе, в гонке обгонов в результате атаки на соперника, кроме первого круга, не произошло. Через две недели борьба продолжится на городской трассе в Баку.
