The tournament will be played by four teams, A, B, C and D, unlike recent years which was played in zonal format. All squads are picked by national selectors. It will be forming part of the 2024 Indian domestic cricket season, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in June 2024. South Zone are the defending champions. The game is known by numerous names in different parts of South Asia, such as: kabaddi or chedugudu in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana; kabaddi in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala; kabadi or ha-du-du in Bangladesh; bhavatik in Maldives, kauddi or kabaddi in the Punjab region; hu-tu-tu in Western India, hu-do-do in Eastern India; chadakudu in South India; kapardi in Nepal; and kabadi or sadugudu in Tamil Nadu कबड्डी एक खेल है, जो मुख्य रूप से भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में खेली जाती है। कबड्डी नाम का प्रयोग प्राय: उत्तर भारत में किया जाता है, इस खेल को दक्षिण में चेडुगुडु और पूर्व में हु तू तू के नाम से भी जानते हैं। यह खेल भारत के पड़ोसी देश नेपाल, बांग्लादेश, श्रीलंका और पाकिस्तान में भी उतना ही लोकप्रिय है। तमिल, कन्नड़ और मलयालम में ये मूल शब्द, (கை-பிடி) "कै" (हाथ), "पिडि" (पकडना) का रूपांतरण है, जिसका अनुवाद है 'हाथ पकडे रहना'। कबड्डी, बांग्लादेश का राष्ट्रीय खेल है। इस मैच नियम साधारण शब्दों में इसे ज्यादा अंक हासिल करने के लिए दो टीमों के बीच की एक स्पर्धा कहा जा सकता है। अंक पाने के लिए एक टीम का रेडर (कबड्डी-कबड्डी बोलने वाला) विपक्षी पाले (कोर्ट) में जाकर वहां मौजूद खिलाडियों को छूने का प्रयास करता है। इस दौरान विपक्षी टीम के स्टापर (रेडर को पकड़ने वाले) अपने पाले में आए रेडर को पकड़कर वापस जाने से रोकते हैं और अगर वह इस प्रयास में सफल होते हैं तो उनकी टीम को इसके बदले एक अंक मिलता है। और अगर रेडर किसी स्टापर को छूकर अपने पाले में चला जाता है तो उसकी टीम के एक अंक मिल जाता और जिस स्टापर को उसने छुआ है उसे नियमत: कोर्ट से बाहर जाना पड़ता है। कबड्डी में 12 खिलाड़ी होते हैं जिसमें से 7 कोर्ट में होते हैं और 5 रिज़र्व होते हैं ।कबड्डी कोर्ट डॉज बॉल गेम जितना बड़ा होता है।कोर्ट के बीचोबीच एक लाइन खिंची होती है जो इसे दो हिस्सों में बांटती है। कबड्डी महासंघ के हिसाब से कोर्ट का माप 13 मीटर × 10 मीटर होता है। भ्द्फ्ग्झ्ग्ब्छ् खिलाडियों के पाले में आने के बाद टॉस जीतने वाली टीम सबसे पहले अपना खिलाड़ी (रेडर) विपक्षी पाले में भेजती है। यह रेडर कबड्डी-कबड्डी बोलते हुए जाता है और विपक्षी खिलाडियों को छूने का प्रयास करता हैं ।वह अपनी चपलता का उपयोग कर विपक्षी खिलाडियों (स्टापरों) को छूने का प्रयास कर सकता है। इस प्रक्रिया में अगर वह विपक्षी टीम के किसी भी स्टापर को छूने में सफल होता है तो उस स्टापर को मरा हुआ (डेड) समझ लिया जाता है। ऐसे में उस स्टापर को कोर्ट से बाहर जाना पड़ता है। और अगर स्टापरों को छूने की प्रक्रिया में रेडर अगर स्टापरों की गिरफ्त में आ जाता है तो उसे मरा हुआ (डेड) मान लिया जाता है। यह प्रक्रिया दोनों टीमों की ओर से बारी-बारी चलती रहती है। इस तरह से हर दल का खिलाड़ी बारी बारी से क्रम बदलते रहते हैं और अंत में जिसके दल में सबसे ज्यादा सदस्य बचे रह जाते हैं उस दल को विजेता घोषित कर दिया जाता है।
