Islamabad United will take on Quetta Gladiators at National Stadium in Karachi on Friday (March 15) for a place in Eliminator 2. The United finished third in the points table, with 11 points from 10 matches. They won five and lost four games, while a game with the same opponents, Quetta Gladiators, was abandoned due to rain. On the flip side, the Gladiators had the same stats as the Islamabad-based franchise but due to a lesser net run rate than their counterparts, they finished fourth on the ladder. These two franchises met twice in the league phase. The first meeting was won by Quetta Gladiators by a close margin, while the second was washed out, as mentioned above. The Shadab Khan-led side had to win their last two league matches to make the playoffs. Imad Wasim's thrilling finish saved the United in a massive run-chase against the table-toppers. There is no stopping the Multan-based franchise as of now. They are leading the charts with 12 points from 7 matches, winning six and losing only one game. They beat Karachi Kings in their recent match by 20 runs. On the other hand, the Peshawar-based franchise is in fourth, with 7 points from as many fixtures, winning three, losing three and a match abandoned due to rain. Despite not getting off to a good start, Peshawar did well to get into a winning habit before witnessing a complete washout against Lahore Qalandars. Coming into this game, Peshawar Zalmi lost to Islamabad United on Monday (March 4) by 29 runs. Things could have been embarrassing if Aamir Jamal hadn't hit a 49-ball 87 after they were reduced to 18/5 in no time, chasing 197. The Zalmi would want to keep that nightmare aside and come back stronger in what is a quick turnaround against the table toppers. Peshawar Zalmi would take a lot of pride with the fact that they are only team to defeat the Sultans in this PSL. The Babar Azam-led side beat the Mohammad Rizwan-led unit by 5 runs in a closely fought contest in Multan on February 23. On either side of that defeat, the previous season's runners-up have won three matches each, maintaining a nice winning streak.
