Bournemouth 1-2 Chelsea REVIEW: Armando Broja & Ugbo SCORES | Callum Hudson-Odoi IMPRESSIVE | Pre-Season Match Yardbarker (Match Report): Chelsea kicked off their pre-season proper with a fiercely competitive 2-1 win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Blues made the trip to face their infamous Premier League bogey side, now under the stewardship of one Scott Parker - who needs no introduction to Chelsea fans. Despite yielding no goals, the first half was a tight affair played with great spirit and intensity. Tammy Abraham went close thrice with the best chances for either side. Thomas Tuchel rung the changes at half-time, introducing seven new faces for the second half and only retaining Callum Hudson-Odoi, Marcos Alonso, Conor Gallagher and Abraham. The Cherries took the lead in the 66th minute, with Emiliano Marcondes stealing a march in the middle to bundle home - but the Pensioners had completed a quickfire double just ten minutes later, with Armando Broja and Ike Ugbo finishing off sumptuous deliveries from Baba Rahman and Ross Barkley. Plenty of food for thought for trainer Thomas Tuchel, and it'll be something to chew on quickly given next up for the Blues is a saunter across London to take on bitter rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. Yanks needed win -- historic outing seals one Green's perfect 3-inning, 6-K save ends with immaculate frame against Mets Chad Green reared back and dotted the top of the strike zone, a heater that Jonathan Villar waved at. The Yankees reliever pounded his right fist into his glove, perhaps not realizing that he’d just completed an immaculate inning, but well aware that it had been an important performance. Following an afternoon in which the Yankees blew a late lead and weathered one of their most deflating defeats of the season, Green helped restore order. The right-hander’s three perfect innings sealed a 4-2 victory over the Mets, as the Yanks took the nightcap of Sunday’s Subway Series seven-inning doubleheader at Yankee Stadium. With fireworks echoing around the South Bronx, Green struck out Michael Conforto, pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil and Villar on nine pitches in the breezy seventh. According to STATS, Green became the first pitcher in the Modern Era (since 1900) to pitch three perfect innings, strike out six batters and have an immaculate inning in the same game. Green tossed two pitches in Game 1 of the twin bill, before yielding to closer Aroldis Chapman, who blew a save opportunity in a 10-5 loss that saw the Mets bat around for six seventh-inning runs. The Yankees bounced back, as Gio Urshela slugged an opposite-field three-run blast off Corey Oswalt that provided most of their offensive production, supporting a strong spot start by Nestor Cortes Jr. Described by Boone as someone who “pitches without fear,” Cortes’ funky, unpredictable delivery kept the Mets guessing into the fourth inning. “This was huge,” said Cortes, who struck out four in 3 1/3 frames of one-run ball. “We had to come out and salvage this series. It’s super important that we got the job done.” Dominic Smith chased Cortes with a one-out double in the fourth, and Pete Alonso greeted Darren O’Day with a two-run homer, his second long ball of the doubleheader. But O’Day escaped without further damage. Brett Gardner dashed home on a fifth-inning wild pitch for an important insurance run. Boone explained that he preferred Chapman in the Game 1 save situation because he believed Green would be needed for length, a blueprint that worked perfectly. The Mets did not get a ball out of the infield against Green, who could be considered as a fill-in closer while Chapman tries to figure out his ongoing issues with fastball command. "Chad Green did an amazing job,” Mets manager Luis Rojas said. “That guy pitching both games, that's something special. That doesn't happen often now in baseball."

Poland had to work hard to earn their place in Sunday's final of the 2021 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League as they shut out rookies Slovenia 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-23) in Saturday's second semifinal at Italy's Adriatic resort of Rimini. This sets up a clash between the reigning world champions Poland and Olympic champions Brazil who had earlier shut out France in the first semifinal. Bartosz Kurek with a killing efficiency of 61% (14/23) and an overall match high of 17 points was instrumental to Poland's win. Slovenia struggled to cope with the intense blocking of their opponents which yielded 14 points (four by Fabian Drzyzga, three each by Kurek and Piotr Nowakowski). A very rare break point on a block by Michal Kubiak on Toncek Stern had given Poland a two-point lead midway through the first set. But T. Stern quickly redeemed himself with back-to-back aces on Wilfredo Leon taking Slovenia ahead 14-13 forcing coach Vital Heynen to take his first timeout. A further point on a kill by Klemen Cebulj after a dig by T. Stern immediately brought Slovenia two up - but they couldn't carry it into the twenties. Back-to-back blocks by Fabian Drzyzga on Cebulj from the right and by Nowakowski on T. Stern from the left, plus a series of attacks sent wide by the Slovenians sealed the deal for Poland. Slovenia, however, were not throwing in the towel quite yet. As Heynen starting the second with Nowakowski in place of Jakub Kochanowski, Slovenia quickly opened with a three-point lead extending this to four on a ace by T. Stern on Kubiak by the first technical timeout. A 4-1 run by Poland took care of that to draw level at 9-9 and the two teams mostly exchanged sideouts until an ace by Leon on Jani Kovacic saw Poland into the second technical timeout two points ahead. An ace by Drzyzga on Cebulj made it four by 20-16 and Poland just held on till the end of the set. It remained tight into the third, Poland just ahead by two at the second technical timeout and Slovenia keeping up, until an ace by Mateusz Bieniek on Tine Urnaut made it three. Poland continued to sideout as necessary to close the match, rather unceremoniously as Mitja Gasparini sent the last serve on the net. It is the first ever appearance in a VNL final for both Poland and Brazil. The two had met in the bronze medal match of the 2019 edition with Poland eventually making it on the podium. VNL rookies Slovenia will meet France in Sunday's bronze medal match, prior to the final.
#fasialsatti Karachi Kings batted first, setting Peshawar Zalmi a chase, a target that Hazratullah Zazai seemed to made a mockery of in the first ten overs. No, this isn't the match report from this game a week ago; it's just that Zazai doubled up, following that astonishing innings with an even more explosive one. He hit 77 off 37 balls and set Zalmi up comfortably for a chase of 176, and even though Zalmi made harder work of that than they needed to, the Afghan batter had set them enough of a buffer to get over the line in the end. Zalmi might not have expected to chase such a steep total after they kept a lid on the Kings for much of the first innings. Mohammad Irfan, the 39-year old, was sensationally disciplined with the ball during his quota of four, allowing just 21 runs, exactly as many as he did in that game against the Kings last week. This time, however, he was also more incisive, picking up the wickets of Sharjeel Khan and Danish Aziz as Zalmi chipped away at the power hitters around Babar Azam, who could do little more than anchor an innings that was going awry. When Wahab Riaz accounted for him, Azam had scored another half-century, but the rate of accumulation continues to be a concern, especially when the big hitters don't come off. Thisara Perera ameliorated that situation somewhat with an entertaining cameo, taking apart spinner Khalid Usman in an innings where he struck at over 200. But there was limited support; Riaz returned to clean up Chadwick Walton before he could get going, and even though the final five overs yielded 70, there was always the sense the Kings had left themselves too much to do in the second innings. Zazai was striking the balls with such devastating power that Kamran Akmal, and later Imam-ul-Haq, were simply content to turn the strike over to the Afghan and enjoy the fireworks from the best seat in the house. Kings looked especially out of ideas while Zazai was on strike, but Imam struggled to take any pressure off his partner, scoring just 11 off the 17 he faced. When Zazai holed out, there was still concern that the 73 they still needed would prove tricky. Which is exactly what it proved. Shoaib Malik steadied things through a mature 52-run stand with Khalid Usman, but they hadn't quite got on top of the asking rate, even if they were never behind in the game. In the final over, Sherfane Rutherford curiously decided to attack every delivery as if they needed to chase 27 instead of seven, but woeful fielding by Kings meant they shot themselves in the foot. The West Indian was dropped off the first and fifth ball of the 20th over, and as Imad Wasim's tears flowed, the team in yellow stayed alive in the tournament. Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies MLB Full Game 06/10/2021 Ian Anderson and Zack Wheeler locked up in a pitchers’ duel but the Atlanta Braves’ bullpen faltered again in a 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings. The Braves needed a great performance from Ian Anderson and he delivered. Anderson walked Odubel Herrera to begin the game and needed 26 pitches to get through the first inning. He settled in from there, allowing just four hits to go along with four strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. After that 26-pitch first inning, Anderson needed just 72 pitches to navigate the final six innings. The problem for Atlanta was that Zack Wheeler was even more dominant. The Braves didn’t get their first hit, a check swing single by Kevan Smith, until the third inning. Dansby Swanson led off the fifth with a single but a strikeout and a liner double play erased the threat. After striking out the side in the sixth, Wheeler allowed a lead off single to Freddie Freeman in the seventh. A wild pitch got Freeman to second, but Wheeler struck out Swanson to leave him stranded. Wheeler tossed eight scoreless while allowing four hits and striking out 12. It was as good a performance as you will see. Herrera connected on a one-out double off of A.J. Minter in the eighth and then came around to score as Juan Segura grounded one down the line that got under Austin Riley’s glove for a double to make it 1-0. Minter got Bryce Harper to fly out for the second out and then gave way to Edgar Santana. A passed ball allowed Segura to move over to third but Santana got Rhys Hoskins to pop out to end the frame. Hector Nerris struck out Ronald Acuña Jr. to start the ninth but Freddie Freeman worked the count full and then homered to straightaway center field to tie the game. The Atlanta Braves (29-30) and Philadelphia Phillies (29-31) close out a three-game series Thursday at 1:05 p.m. ET at Citizens Bank Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Phillies odds with MLB picks and predictions. RHP Ian Anderson is the projected starting pitcher for the Braves. He is 4-3 with a 3.64 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 9.9 K/9, and 3.8 BB/9 in 59 1/3 IP over 11 starts. Anderson has yielded eight runs in his last 8 1/3 IP, but he’s been undone mostly by rates around the margins (batting average on balls in play, left-on-base rate, etc.). He has already faced Philadelphia three times this season (4.41 ERA in 16 IP). RHP Zack Wheeler is the projected starter for the Phillies. He is 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 10.9 K/9, and 2.0 BB/9 in 82 1/3 IP over 12 starts. Wheeler owns a nifty 2.08 ERA (with a 14.9% swinging-strike rate) over his last five turns. He’s posted a sub-2.25 ERA in four starts against Atlanta the last two seasons. When Zack Wheeler has taken the mound in Philadelphia, the other team has not had a lot of success. This will be Wheeler’s third start against the Braves this season and his first two were very different. In his start at home, Wheeler pitched seven innings, allowing one hit and no runs with ten strikeouts. But when he pitched at Atlanta, he allowed three runs on seven hits with four walks. This has been a common theme for Wheeler, who has been lights out at home with a 3-1 record and a 1.97 ERA, but has struggled on the road with a 1-2 record and a 3.38 ERA. The Phillies’ offense is as healthy as it has been in a while and prior to last night’s game their offense has been mashing at the plate averaging 7.33 runs in their previous three games. The Philadelphia offense has been carried by their top two hitters in the order, Andrew McCutchen and Jean Segura, in recent games with both players hitting for above a .360 average in their last seven. Unlike Wheeler, Ian Anderson’s stats are very alike whether he’s pitching at home or on the road. Anderson was stellar in his first MLB season in 2020 with a 1.95 ERA in six starts, but hasn’t had the same success so far this year. His 3.64 ERA is not bad, but Anderson struggles with being efficient and has been pulled in the fifth inning in both his previous starts due to his high pitch count. When Anderson is at his best, his changeup has been unhittable. But he relies on only three pitches, so when one isn’t working, hitters have a 50 percent chance of guessing the pitch and this has resulted in a 10.8 barrel percentage which puts him in the 19th percentile. The difference in this game is how dominant Wheeler has been at home and in his 50.1 innings he has allowed a .168 batting average and a .208 OBP to go with his 0.715 WHIP. Back the Phillies with the better pitcher on the mound. Wheeler continues to bring the total down each start because oddsmakers are starting to respect him, especially at home. In his 12 starts this season, the games have combined for an average of 6.58 runs and because of this the total has never been above 8.5 for a game he has started.
