AMIR CUP QUARTER FINALS 2026-2025

Al Ahli Faces Al Wakrah, Al Sadd Meets Al Shamal in Emir Cup Quarterfinals Doha – April 17, 2026: The quarterfinal stage of the 2025–2026 His Highness the Emir Basketball Cup for men kicks off on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Al Gharafa Hall. This stage marks a decisive turning point in the tournament. The round opens with Al Ahli facing Al Wakrah at 6:05 PM. The game is expected to revolve around half-court rhythm management. Al Ahli enters relying on stability in organized offense and effective scoring inside the arc, while aiming to minimize unforced passing errors under pressure. In contrast, Al Wakrah bets on fast transitions and early ball pressure, seeking to impose a high tempo to push the opponent out of its tactical comfort zone. At 8:00 PM, Al Sadd meets Al Shamal in a clash of contrasting styles. Al Sadd brings extensive experience in knockout matches and the ability to elevate decision-making quality in critical moments, especially in the final quarter. Al Shamal, runner-up of the Qatar Cup, relies on physical strength, direct play, and relentless pressure from the start, aiming to create an early lead that unsettles the opponent. Quarterfinal action continues on Sunday, April 19, with Al Gharafa facing Al Rayyan at 6:05 PM. On paper, this is a balanced matchup between two teams with roster depth and multiple options across both backcourt and frontcourt. The game may be decided by fine details such as free throws and possession efficiency in the closing moments. The round concludes with Al Arabi meeting Qatar Club, who qualified by defeating Al Khor 92–72. This game tips off at 8:00 PM and is expected to be one of the strongest quarterfinal contests, given both teams’ individual quality and offensive capabilities that can shift the game at any moment. Defensive discipline and quick transitions are likely to play a decisive role in determining the qualifier. The semifinals will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Al Gharafa Hall. The winner of Al Ahli vs. Al Wakrah will face the winner of Al Arabi vs. Qatar Club at 6:00 PM, while the second semifinal at 8:00 PM will feature the winner of Al Sadd vs. Al Shamal against the winner of Al Gharafa vs. Al Rayyan. The tournament concludes on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, with the final at 6:30 PM to crown the champion of this season’s edition. It is worth noting that Al Rayyan won last season’s 2024–2025 title after defeating Al Arabi 77–70 in the final held at Al Gharafa Hall.
