After a closely fought first T20I we now head into the second game of the five-match series coming live from Providence Stadium in Guyana. Suryakumar Yadav is all set to play his 50th T20I. How will the pitch play: Recent history suggests that spinners will enjoy the conditions more as compared to the pacers and that could perhaps prompt a few changes from both sides. The venue for the first game is Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba Trinidad and India would be hoping to dominate the proceedings like they did in the final ODI at the same venue couple of days back. West Indies though have some quality T20 superstars and we can expect a close intense affair. Rovman Powell will lead West Indies in T20Is and he would be looking to get back into some form after a torrid run in recent past. Along with him West Indies have powerful batters like Kyle Mayers Charles Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran who would be itching to translate his Major League Cricket form in international cricket. Hope and Holder are also back in the T20 setup while the bowling too looks pretty good with Akeal Hosein and Obed McCoy back in the mix. Expect Windies to give India a tough fight. India on the other hand have plenty of players who will be itching to prove a point at the international level. They might rest Shubman Gill and hand Yashasvi Jaiswal his debut in T20Is while Tilak Varma could also make his debut. The presence of Samson Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya make India a dangerous batting unit. Yuzvendra Chahal might finally get a game on this tour while Arshdeep Singh would add more strength to a young Indian pace attack. Can West Indies stop a rampant Indian unit and take a 1-0 lead in this T20I series? We shall find out. Suryakumar Yadav is a key member in the T20I team and he'll be hoping to get himself going in a format which has worked out well for him after an average showing in the ODI series. Umran Malik will be keen to find his rhythm and put the West Indian batters in a spot having not been at his best in the 50-over games. Meanwhile Mukesh Kumar after showcasing his skills in the Test and ODI formats in his maiden series for India will look to make a mark in the T20I format too if he is handed a debut. India have a plethora of spin options and it remains to be seen who among them get the nod. The West Indies side have plenty of quality players in their line-up but this will again be a fresh start for them after their poor showing in the T20 World Cup in Australia last year. Since they currently have nothing to prove the others should have opportunities to secure positions in Nos. 4 and 5. All of these are part of getting ready for the ODI World Cup which will be held at home later this year. However the outcome in Bridgetown with all respect to a tremendous West Indies comeback was a complete letdown. Now that the decider is about to take center stage Rohit and Kohli are both anticipated to be called back for the big game on Tuesday (August 1) in order to prevent a humiliating series loss. One should stand up and give the West Indies credit for their cohesive effort in their convincing victory in the second ODI. The first game of the series in which they were dismissed for 114 in just 23 overs seemed to be a case of "Men against Boys even though Rohit and Kohli did not really have much to offer. The Caribbean outfit realized their mistakes and brought Joseph and Carty back and both of them chipped in with valuable contributions to level the series. They are therefore unlikely to alter the lineup that helped them win their first match against India in three years. Contrarily the Men in Blue will need to make difficult decisions. Suryakumar Yadav was given two opportunities but the top-ranked T20I batsman did not do much with the willow. Now it is interesting to see whether he or Samson who only got one chance gets dropped in the decider to make way for Rohit. Among the rest Kohli and Jaydev Unadkat are likely to take the place of Malik and Patel who are expected to be benched after below-par outings. So which team will emerge victorious in the decider? The irony is obvious. Sixty-six days to go for a home World Cup in which they are meant to be favorites. An experimenting India have just lost an ODI rather comprehensively to a side that was recently chastened for being unable to qualify for the World Cup. India are in a situation where even their opening pair is struggling. Shubman Gill who could do no wrong a couple of months ago has had his technique splayed apart against the Dukes ball - first at the WTC Final and then in the West Indies Tests. West Indies Team news: With no injuries being reported between the two ODIs West Indies are unlikely to tinker with a combination that has worked especially given that some of the previously benched players paid off - Carty and Mayers in particular. even if it was after giving India a sniff with four wickets in a 38-run window. And at the center of the display of character were Keacy and Hope - a veteran and one of the grittier players in the team. India Team news: It's hard to predict what India will do given their experiments in the second ODI. However it's unlikely that India will stick to their guns and risk a sinking morale in the dressing room. It's likely that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play. The real question mark lies in the middle-order they might go with. For now they don't have a World Cup to look forward to. They have no distractions and can focus on beating a scatter-brained India just one more time. What to expect: This is the first game that's being played at the Brian Lara Stadium in this tour. It is known to be a true wicket and aids strokeplay a lot more than the two-paced Barbados wicket. With an Indian batting desperately in need of a get-out-of-jail card this pitch might just be the one to give them a boost. With a typical Trinidad wicket in place it has to be advantage India - and seamers of course in that brief new-ball period. Early lunch was taken as the game was interrupted multiple times and only 3 overs were possible in the afternoon session. Siraj registered his best Test figures in the morning session as he and Mukesh did short work of the Windies middle and lower order to send them packing for 255. The Indian openers began well adding 98 runs for the first wicket. Rohit was dropped twice on 25 and 29 in the space of two overs and brought up his quickest Test half century. He was eventually dismissed by Shannon Gabriel who dropped one of his catches earlier. Yashasvi Jaiswal also got to an aggressive start and fell against the spinner Jomel Warrican. The left-hand right-hand batting combination was continued as Ishan Kishan was sent to bat at number 4 with the attacking intent. Rain interrupted the game for almost 2 hours with tea taken during the interval. The two batters then added 63 runs in nine overs with Kishan getting his first Test fifty in just 33 balls adding 79 unbeaten with Gill (29*) for the third wicket and set West Indies 365 to win. Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul spearheaded the innings for the West Indies in the 4th innings. The duo played sensibly and negotiated Indian pacers carefully without losing any wickets in the first hour of the last session. Rohit switched the bowling from pace to spin and it proved to be the right decision as Ashwin trapped Brathwaite (28 off 52) and Kirk McKenzie (0 off 4) in quick succession and put West Indies in a spot of bother. Blackwood joined Chanderpaul at number three and the duo played cautiously remaining unbeaten till the end of the fourth day’s play. Rohit employed five bowlers and Ashwin managed to extract a couple of wickets for India. India will aim to wrap up the innings quickly tomorrow and win this clash.
