Sharks vs Knights Game 7: Fan Flashback
I have witnessed countless incredible moments at live sporting events, but few of them hold a candle to Sharks vs Knights Game 7. In this "Fan Flashback" video, I take a stroll down memory lane to revisit one of the greatest playoff series in San Jose Sharks history -- and perhaps one of the greatest series we've seen in our lifetime. Although the 3-0 comeback in Game 7 was unprecedented, it was the Sharks' overall series comeback that deserves equal attention. The Vegas Golden Knights had seemingly buried Team Teal after outscoring them in Games 3 + 4 by a total of 11-3. But once the Sharks regrouped at home for Game 5, they found several ways to narrow the deficit -- and ultimately come out series victors. Wolff Explains Reason Behind Hamilton Contract Delays
With the new season of Formula 1 less than two months away, many expected Mercedes and 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton to have finalized a new deal by now. However, nothing has been announced yet and there have even been suggestions that Mercedes may not want to meet Hamilton’s new demands. It's how it is with negotiations. You always come from different corners, but that's quite normal” He then explained why it is taking so much time “We have a really solid basis in our relationship. We have celebrated great successes together and want to continue doing so in the future. But sometimes you have to talk things out in detail, and that took, or still takes us some time” Wolff then explained how the lawyers are having a difficult time with the negotiations taking place over Zoom “The lawyers are working hard. We don't make life easy for them, of course, when we both argue over Zoom and keep sending curveballs to the lawyers. [Hamilton is] in America now and I'm here [in Austria]” Wolff then confirmed a timeline by which the new deal will be signed “[It should be sorted] before Bahrain at the latest – you have to sign something at some point!” He summed up his words by elaborating on why they don’t need any threatening gestures “We never played the George Russell card. He did incredibly well and will one day be in a top car, but our longstanding partnership is not at all about making any threatening gestures. We know we want to race together. And now we have to negotiate the contract” Fast Feed Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan thinks that Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll “has the speed to be a world champion, he really, really does” Aston Martin team principal Otmar Szafnauer, meanwhile, added that their other driver Sebastian Vettel “will bring out the best in Lance, with Lance pushing Sebastian hard in return” He further feels that “it’s the ideal blend of experience, race-winning knowhow, and raw talent” McLaren's production director, Piers Thynne feels that their “switch to the Mercedes power unit” has “driven a huge amount of change and, essentially”, they’ve “been building a new car” He further revealed that “the number of new parts on the” 2021 “MCL35M is about the same as when” they “built the” 2020 MCL35 He also confirmed that “there are some challenges in certain areas at the moment – but that’s F1. If you’re not encountering any problems, then you’re probably not being aggressive enough” Toto Wolff definitely thinks that “Red Bull, with [Sergio] Perez, will be a much stronger opponent in terms of the constructors' championship” He also expects “Sergio to be very strong. It will also be interesting how he faces Verstappen. It's a new opponent” He further thinks that “Honda will really step on the gas to compete for the championship in their last year as a manufacturer. That's why it will be quite interesting” Head of engineering at AlphaTauri Jody Egginton, feels that they “should have been sixth in the championship” as “the car was good enough for it” He also accepts that they “didn't live up to it. There are many things” they “improved with, but unfortunately” they “didn't deliver the performance” Red Bull team principal Christian Horner thinks that the “Hydrogen Class at Le Mans offers an exciting glimpse into the future of sustainable motorsport” This is because it “promises both to advance the use of hydrogen in transportation, and also deliver exciting racing” McLaren’s technical director James Key thinks that their “strengths have been typically the high-speed corners” and “in terms of weaknesses”, they “still need to improve” “a bit in low speed” FIA president Jean Todt confirmed that they “are facing a difficult start to the season, because it is a difficult time for the whole planet” He added that “creativity is the key word when organizing major sporting events at this time”. It was a big fixture that brought nothing but big disappointment...again. One team dominated possession and the other waited for the break. Mane, Firmino and Salah looked anything but deadly, while Pogba and Fernandes had the best chances of the game to end Liverpool's impressive home record, but the mammoth in goals called Alisson thought otherwise. In the end, Liverpool and Man Utd landed up sharing the spoils. Chelsea huffed and puffed against a 10 man Fulham until Lampard's son - Mount - proved to be the difference giving the blues a much needed 3 points at the Cottage. Spurs weren't messing around as Mourinho's men put the blades to their sword with a comfortable 3-1 victory, courtesy of Kane, Aurier and Ndombele...with the latter really beginning to stake his influence in the squad! Stone's and Dias continue to be a stalwart partnership as Man City won their 5th Premier League game in a row. Capitalising on Crystal Place's errors, they waltzed to a comfortable 4-0 victory - no surprise then, that the bookies have them as odds on favourite's to claim the title. However, are they really though? Lastly, Arsenal strolled to a 3-0 win over a limp Newcastle, making it 4 wins from their last 5 games for Arteta's men. The young guns - Smith-Rowe and Saka - produced the goods again, but the best part was Aubameyang finally hitting the back of the net, twice! Will this be the key to open a potential goal-scoring flood gate for the gunners? Newcastle on the other hand, were uninspired and directionless under Steve Bruce, how much longer will the Toon faithful have to endure witnessing what some say is closer to torture than entertainment...only Mike Ashley will know. Why Red Bull Won’t Release Pierre Gasly Anytime Soon
Pierre Gasly seemed to have gotten the opportunity of a lifetime when he was called to the senior Red Bull team after the shock departure of Daniel Ricciardo at the end of the 2018 season. However, his stay would be short as he would be demoted back to AlphaTauri after just twelve races. Gasly though has had an impressive run since then that has included a podium and a victory with AlphaTauri. Many felt that this warranted a promotion for Gasly but Red Bull’s senior management has made it clear that they will be keeping Gasly at AlphaTauri. They all want to know if and when a driver is available. Pierre improved a lot. He has reached a real high level now” He then pointed out how Gasly has become the kind of driver everyone wants to build their team around “He is now an experienced driver, and also a successful driver. Each team is built around a successful driver. What does that mean? The fact that the team listens to the technical feedback of the driver also influences the new design of the car” “Let me put it another way: the designers and engineers take the feedback from such a good driver into account. That car is more suited to his driving style, that is the state of affairs” He summed up his words by explaining why Gasly will stay in the Red Bull family for the foreseeable future “He has a contract with Red Bull and I don't think Red Bull will release him anytime soon. They have invested a lot of money in him and sooner or later they want to reap the benefits, get good results, win races and also championships.
