Ben Lister, the 27-year-old Auckland fast bowler, is a first time inclusion in the New Zealand squad. The game holds paramount importance for India as they must win it to stay alive in the series. It didn't take long for New Zealand to bounce back from the T20I series defeat as they demolished the visitors by seven wickets in the first ODI. Barring Adam Milne the Kiwi bowlers fared well in Auckland a venue that usually sees truckloads of runs being scored on its flat deck. Although Tim Southee was expensive towards the backend he scalped three wickets to derail the Indian innings. Latham and Kane Williamson stitched a partnership for ages helping their team chase 307 without breaking a sweat. New Zealand have been unbeaten in their last eight ODIs in Hamilton. It's a venue that suits their traditional style of play which is why we expect the Kiwis to emerge triumphant in this encounter. Toss will be the key and India can end their four-match losing streak at this venue if they chase. Having seemingly moved on from Trent Boult and Martin Guptill the hosts seem to have built a solid foundation as they build towards the 2023 World Cup. Michael Bracewell isn't a guaranteed starter despite his stellar recent form and even injury to James Neesham couldn't prevent them from India in the series-opener in Auckland. Their quartet of fast bowlers offer both pace and movement while Neesham Bracewell and Mitchell Santner complete a trio of allrounders. Batting depth might be New Zealand's one major concern given that they can't accommodate all their allrounders and that Tim Southee's returns with the bat have faded of late. India meanwhile are still in search of a sixth bowling option. None of the top six batters who played in Auckland bowl and with no Hardik Pandya Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel in their squad for this series. They could look to address the sixth-bowler issue by bringing Deepak Hooda into their line-up but that would leave them with the dilemma of who to leave out. They have the luxury of experimenting however since they have qualified as hosts of next year's World Cup. But they still have a series to win which would need them first and foremost to win on Sunday and end a five-match losing streak against New Zealand. New Zealand Team news: were forced to leave Neesham out in Auckland due to a niggle. If he returns they might have a difficult choice to make. While they will welcome the extra batting depth he offers if he replaces one of the four specialist quicks they might need him to bowl his full ten-over quota with Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips having been used very sparingly of late. India Team news: There is a chance India might bring in Hooda as a sixth bowling option but this could force them to leave out Suryakumar Yadav who hasn't yet replicated his T20I success in ODIs. He was the only member of India's top seven to be dismissed for a single-digit score in Auckland and his last seven ODI innings have brought him a highest score of just 27. India's three fast bowlers were all expensive in Auckland so there is a chance that Deepak Chahar could replace one of them. Pitch and conditions Seddon Park in Hamilton has hosted only three ODIs since 2020 with two of them producing first-innings scores in excess of 330. India scored 347 in one of them only for New Zealand to hunt it down comfortably thanks to a Ross Taylor century. Expect another high-scoring game come Sunday. There remains a good chance of rain interrupting play however with showers forecast throughout the afternoon and evening. A collective batting effort from the Indian batters helped the side to post a mammoth total on the board after being put into bat by Kane Williamson! Earlier in the match New Zealand won the toss and opt to bowl first. Indian openers Shubman Gill (50 off 65) and Shikhar Dhawan (72 off 77) gave India a strong platform with a solid opening wicket partnership of 124. Both of the batters completed their respective half-centuries but fell sometime after their milestones in the matter of an over. Shreyas Iyer who came in at number three showed his class with a brilliant innings off 80 from 76 deliveries including 4 fours and as many sixes. He was the sixth wicket to fall for India but before his dismissal there were a couple of batters Rishabh Pant (15 off 23) and Suryakumar Yadav (4 off 3) failed to impress in the ODI circuit. While Shreyas added 94 runs for the fifth wicket alongside Sanju Samson (36 off 38) he also added 46 runs for the sixth wicket alongside Washington Sundar to propel the team's total past 300 from being 4/160 at one stage. Washington Sundar showed his class as he finished unbeaten on 37 runs from just 16 deliveries to make sure that India had 306 runs on the board at the end of their allotted 50 overs. For New Zealand Lockie Ferguson was the most successful bowler picking three wickets and giving 59 runs in his full quota. While Tim Southee also scalped three wickets he went for 73 runs in his ten overs. He did complete the milestone of 200 ODI wickets. Adam Milne picked a wicket but failed to control the flow of runs. Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner who was the lone spinner in the Kiwi's lineup and both returned wicketless. Can New Zealand chase this total down or will Indian bowlers defend the big total set by the batters? Pitch Report | Murali Kartik and Anjum Chopra: "It's beautiful day here in Auckland.
