¡No te pierdas lo mejor del partido entre Real Estelí y América! 👀⚽ Real Esteli of Nicaragua earned their first ever Concacaf Champions Cup victory by defeating seven-time Concacaf champions Club America 2-1 in the first leg of their 2024 Champions Cup Round One series on Tuesday night at the Estadio Independencia in Esteli, Nicaragua. It was Real Esteli's first Champions Cup win in 31 matches and gives the Nicaraguans the advantage going into next week's second leg in Mexico. Real Esteli were in dreamland early on, as a Byron Bonilla cross struck the hand of a Club America defender, resulting in a penalty. A minute later in the 7', it was 1-0 to the Nicaraguans when Bonilla calmly converted from the spot. Club America started to gain a foothold in the match, and they had a golden opportunity to draw level in the 22', only for Alejandro Zendejas to slice a shot wide. The Mexican visitors continued to mount pressure on the Real Esteli defense and hand a handful of chances, but there was no way past GK Douglas Forvis. Just when it looked like an equalizer was coming for Club America, Real Esteli struck again through Marvin Fletes, who steered a perfectly-placed header into net off a corner kick in the 47' to give the hosts a 2-0 lead. Real Esteli kept their foot on the gas and Nicolas Maturana Caneo nearly struck for a third in the 53' but was unable to find the target with time and space at the far post. Club America looked to finish strong and pull at least one goal back, with Jonathan Rodriguez making himself a nuisance to the Real Esteli. Club America finally pulled a goal back in the 90' when Forvis blocked a free kick, but Julian Quinones was there to turn in the rebound for the precious away goal and a 2-1 scoreline. Despite the late Club America goal, Real Esteli still collected the historic victory, setting up a dramatic second leg next week in Mexico City. #concachampions #highlights #resumen #concachampions2024 #championscup 🔔 Subscribe to our channel, and turn on notifications: https://www.youtube.com/concacaf/view_as=subscriber?sub_confirmation=1 💻 You can also visit our website and enjoy our exclusive content: https://www.concacaf.com/ 📱 Follow us on our social networks: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thechampions/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/thechampions Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thechampions

Five times in fact since 2000. But only the great Australian team of 2004 had the legs to see an early lead to a series win. That's how hard it is to keep throwing punches in these conditions without copping them back with interest. Even in this decade of impregnability India have found ways to overturn early deficits. In Bengaluru they produced a clinic in attractional bowling. Four years later in Chennai they went the other way and raged on a raging turner. And so on to Vizag 2024 where the hosts will be out to convince the rest of the world that their facade is not in fact fraying and that they simply don't lose consecutive home Tests well not since 2012 anyway. But time is what it is and Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid now have to protect a proud record with a squad that has fewer Test runs. Joe Root and where Ravichandran Ashwin is both the highest wicket-taker and second-highest run and century maker. The captain-coach pair seek quick solutions while colliding head-on with a team that has spent the last 18 months running on an irresistible quantum of jeopardy and the last few weeks. Sweeping any rotating red spherical object out of sight. Lest it is lost in the afterglow it is worth remembering that India were still India in Hyderabad just a little less super-sharp. They led by 190 and had chances that they didn't take. In the end they were done for by what was in many ways a knock for the ages. It'll be interesting to see how they play in the follow up. Imitation however subtle will both be a hat-tip and an acknowledgement of shedding inhibitions. However should they lose the toss again and find the pitch to be similar India will ask for better control from their bowlers and more enterprise from their batters as well as the captain. For the second time in two years Rohit has been properly challenged at home with the marker for the series this time laid down very early. What happens next is a tantalising prospect. Both players are good against spin but Patidar might seem to be ahead in the pecking order by virtue of being called up to the squad earlier to replace Virat Kohli. India The hosts have several ways to go about making up for the double blow of losing KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. It is certain that at least one of Rajat Patidar or Sarfaraz Khan will debut in the middle-order. The team management did their best to keep the identity and the number of debutants under wraps with both contenders batting even in the optional net session the day before the game. England Jack Leach will miss the Test with a knee injury and tall off-spinner Shoaib Bashir the visa issues behind him will replace him in the XI. James Anderson was at his menacing best in the nets two days out from the game and has been picked as the sole seamer in the XI in place of Mark Wood. What to expect: Spin but not of the extreme kind. Last time when India went down to England in Chennai they produced rank turners. But the absence of four all-time greats from the team might call for a more measured approach. This one is a black soil wicket with a smattering of dried grass to bind it. The two Tests played at this venue have been characterised by the slightly old-school subcontinental slow burn progression before culminating in fifth-day jeopardy which is how this one could also go unless the warmer temperatures aid faster disintegration. Nigeria beat Cameroon by a 2-0 scoreline to advance to the quarter-finals of AFCON 2023, where they will take on Angola.
We returned to winning ways courtesy of a fine victory over Crystal Palace to move into third place in the Premier League table. The scoring began in the 11th minute when Gabriel converted a corner kick, and then he was in the thick of the action for the second when his header went in off Eagles goalkeeper Dean Henderson for an own goal. The points were secured after the break when Leandro Trossard marked his first anniversary at the club by finishing off a breathtaking counter-attack to put the result beyond doubt before the hour-mark, before two goals in stoppage-time from Gabriel Martinelli completed a fine afternoon’s work by Mikel Arteta’s men. Having lost our previous three matches, the desire for three points was great going into this one, and we always looked in control of proceedings as we enjoyed the majority of possession, territory and crucially, chances. And we would make them count in this game. We entered it having scored more headers than any other side in the division, and our aerial prowess came to the fore once again when we took the lead after 10 minutes. Declan Rice swung over a dangerous delivery, and Gabriel slipped around Chris Richards to get a run towards the ball, and he towered over the American midfielder to head past Henderson to score his second of the campaign. Three minutes later we nearly added a second via fortuitous circumstances when another flag kick - this time from Bukayo Saka - caused issues and Jefferson Lerma saw the ball cannon off his head and onto his own crossbar as Palace breathed a sigh of relief. While we dictated the majority of the first half, chances were few and far between and that allowed the visitors to grow in confidence, and during a brief period of dominance for Roy Hodgson’s team, David Raya did well to fly across his goal to push a Lerma long-ranger to safety. But our lead was strengthened on 37 minutes, and it was that man Gabriel again who did the damage from a corner. This time, Saka got the assist when his delivery found the defender at the back post, and the Brazilian managed to steer the ball goalwards which found the net off the back of Henderson’s head, with the shot-stopper credited with an own goal. Trossard then nearly netted a third right before half-time when he linked up nicely with Gabriel Jesus but saw a fierce shot just fail to hit the target, however he wouldn’t be denied 13 minutes after the restart. A swift counter-attack was initiated when Raya caught a Will Hughes cross and bowled the ball out to Jesus in acres of space. He galloped forward and picked the perfect time to square to the Belgian, who showed great composure to sit Nathaniel Clyne down before blasting past a helpless Henderson to seal our fourth successive win over the Eagles with 30 minutes still to play. With the result beyond doubt, the remainder of the game was played in third gear and the chances dried up. Raya did well again to push over a powerful Eberechi Eze free-kick from just outside the box, and Saka shot over when well placed. However there was a final flourish in injury time when we made the scoreline much more emphatic. Firstly, Saka caught Eze in possession and we sprang another fast break, which saw Eddie Nketiah find Martinelli who coolly slotted past Henderson. Then 102 seconds later, the winger was sent through on goal again courtesy of a delicious pass over the top by Jorginho and found the same corner of the net to put the icing on a well-deserved, and much-needed, victory. #arsenal Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Vivianne Miedema, Leah Williamson,Gabriel Jesus, Alex Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Beth Mead, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, and more.
