Fue el tiro más fuerte que Statcast ha rastreado en una asistencia desde los jardines de los Azulejos desde que comenzó en el 2015 y la asistencia más fuerte desde las praderas en MLB esta temporada. En el plato, las dos bases por bolas de Barger se sintieron igual de sorprendentes. Barger quiere hacer swing, pero si va a batear de número dos para los Azulejos, alguien necesita estar en base delante del dominicano Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Esperen que este trabajo sea de Barger contra derechos y un elenco más rotativo contra zurdos, pero sin importar cómo se vea de una noche a otra, esta alineación necesita poner a Guerrero en más posiciones para abrir los juegos. Esta alineación está construida para despegar cuando Vladdy conecta jonrones, no sólo sencillos hacia el jardín derecho. Finalmente, se siente como si los Azulejos tuvieran la estructura para sus cuatro mejores, lo que le permitirá al manager John Schneider ser más agresivo también con la mitad inferior de la alineación, en lugar de tapar huecos. Es un gran momento para que Ernie Clement se encienda ahora que también puede encontrar un puesto más regular en la alineación, luego de una noche de 5-5 con un jonrón en el séptimo inning. El swing más grande de la tarde le perteneció al mexicano Brandon Valenzuela, quien ya no es sólo un novato tratando de mantener la cabeza a flote en las Grandes Ligas. El bombazo de tres carreras de Valenzuela en la quinta entrada, su cuarto cuadrangular de la temporada, fue otro destello de por qué ha asumido la mayor parte de las tareas en la receptoría recientemente. Cuando el mexicano Alejandro Kirk cayó con una fractura en el pulgar en abril, parecía que Tyler Heineman se desempeñaría como titular y sería relevado por Valenzuela, pero el novato de 25 años ha obligado a que esa ecuación se invierta. Con Valenzuela, los Azulejos podrían haber encontrado a su receptor suplente a largo plazo para emparejarse con Kirk, una posición increíblemente valiosa que escasea en la liga. Incluso cuando está 100% sano, los Azulejos prefieren mantener a Kirk en alrededor de 110 juegos en el plato cada temporada. Si Valenzuela puede ganar este trabajo para cuando Kirk regrese, seguirá teniendo un rol regular, y uno importante.
