La mission s'annonçait délicate pour Manchester United, en déplacement du côté de Leicester. Avec le retour de Maguire dans leurs rangs, les Red Devils prenaient rapidement l'avantage grâce à un missile téléguidé de Greenwood dans la lucarne de Schmeichel (19e). Comme souvent avec les joueurs de Solskjaer en ce début de saison, c'est un exploit individuel qui faisait la différence car le collectif était lui une nouvelle fois malmenée. Le jeu des locaux était plus cohérent et après une triple occasion (21e) et un centre un peu fort de Ricardo Pereira (27e), Tielemans profitait d'un moment de flottement dans la défense pour trouver à son tour la lucarne (31e). Les intentions des Foxes ne faiblissaient pas et avec un Iheanacho plus réaliste (40e, 46e), ils auraient même dû prendre l'avantage dans cette partie. Mais ils finissaient par baisser le pied et laissaient plus de largesses dans leur défense. Il fallait même un exploit de Schmeichel devant Greenwood (65e), déjà en échec précédemment, pour que les deux équipes restent à égalité. Ronaldo traversait de son côté cette partie comme une ombre, bien qu'il ait eu quelques situations (45e+1, 77e). Tielemans a lui trouvé le poteau (76e) mais Leicester a fini par prendre les devants avec un but opportuniste de Soyuncu (79e). La fin devenait folle car à peine entré en jeu, Rashford égalisait dans la foulée après avoir faussé compagnie à la défense (82e) mais 15 secondes après le nouveau coup d'envoi, Vardy profitait d'un bon travail de Perez pour envoyer une demi-volée dans la lucarne (83e). Cette fois, United ne s'en remettait pas, encaissant même un nouveau but par Daka (90e+1). MU s'incline 4-2, et pour la deuxième fois de la saison, en plus de perdre de précieux points dans la course au titre. Match de folie entre Aston Villa et Wolverhampton Dans le même temps, Pep Guardiola faisait tourner son effectif lors de la réception de Burnley avec les titularisations par exemple de Sterling ou encore Aké en position de latéral gauche, en prévision d'un déplacement à Bruges en Ligue des Champions. Les Citizens n'ont pas brillé mais ont fini par l'emporter, notamment grâce à un but inscrit tôt dans cette rencontre par Bernardo Silva (12e). Ils maîtrisaient le ballon, sans vraiment s'exposer et ont fini par marquer un second but par De Bruyne, profitant d'une petite confusion après un choc dans la surface (70e). Avec ce succès, City revient à un point de Liverpool. Le mano a mano se poursuit. Dans les autres rencontres, et en attendant le match entre Brentford et Chelsea (à suivre en live commenté sur notre site), Aston Villa doit encore se demander comment il a pu s'incliner lors de la réception de Wolverhampton. Après un but de Ings sur une passe de McGinn (48e), puis un but de l'Écossais (68e), les Wolves ont réussi à revenir et même à l'emporter 3-2 en marquant trois buts dans le dernier quart d'heure par Saiss (80e), Coady (85e) et coup-franc contré de Neves (90e+5). Enfin, Southampton a battu Leeds 1-0 (but de Broja, 53e), tandis que Norwich et Brighton se sont quittés sur un score nul et vierge (0-0).
