Jayce Tingler PRAISES San Diego Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove after his HISTORIC no-hitter
Pitcher Joe Musgrove tossed the first no-hitter in Padres franchise history on Friday night, as San Diego defeated the Texas Rangers 3-0 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Padres, who started playing in 1969, were the only team in Major League Baseball to have never thrown a no-hitter. Musgrove struck out 10 and only allowed one base runner when he hit Joey Gallo, which prevented a perfect game. "What do you say? It's just a special night," Padres manager Jayce Tingler said. El derecho Domingo Germán debutó en grande para los Toros, luego de no poder realizar su apertura en la jornada inaugural del domingo en el Corral. Germán comandó a los serpentineros taurinos y tuvo una sólida salida de 4 entradas en blanco en las que no permitió imparables, concedió un boleto y ponchó a 7 contrarios. Jenrry Mejía lanzó dos entradas, Pedro Payano consiguió un episodio en blanco, al igual que el zurdo Anthony Gose y el cerrador Tim Peterson, quien consiguió su primer salvamento de la temporada. Han sido 10 los partidos sin hits que se han lanzado en la historia de la LIDOM y es el segundo en la historia de la franquicia. El primero ocurrió el lunes 3 de diciembre de 1990, en una victoria 4-0 sobre las Águilas Cibaeñas, en el Estadio Francisco A. Micheli (La Romana).
