India won the toss and elected to bat first. India had a strong start to their innings, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring a century and Rinku Singh scoring a quickfire half-century. India finished their innings on 202/4, with Jaiswal scoring 100 off 49 balls and Rinku Singh scoring 37* off 15 balls. Nepal got off to a good start in their chase, with Dipendra Singh Airee scoring a quickfire 50. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 179/9, 23 runs short of the target. Nepal has become a victim of bad umpiring in the match against India under the Asian Games. Two controversial decisions of the umpire in both innings became fatal for Nepal. Against Nepal, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played an explosive innings and scored a century in 49 balls. As the other batsmen could not play openly against the Nepali bowlers, he alone managed to advance India's innings at a stormy pace. However, his innings could not reach a century, if the umpire had given the right decision. In the third ball of the 10th over, there was a strong appeal for LBW out on Jaiswal. Jaiswal was beaten when he tried to sweep the ball thrown by Dipendra Singh Airi. There was no contact between the bat and the ball and the ball between the two legs took the direction of the stump. It was clearly LBW to the naked eye. However, the umpire did not give it. Indian commentator Aakash Chapra also said that if there was a review system in the match, he would return to Jaiswal Pavilion.
