England slumped to another Nations League defeat and were relegated from their group, as they were beaten by Italy at the San Siro. In a first half of very few chances, the home side went closest to scoring early on when Scamacca rose above Harry Maguire to head against the woodwork. England failed to make Donnarumma work throughout and were punished by a Raspadori strike fired in from the edge of the box to give Italy the lead. Despite changes from Southgate, Italy still looked the more likely, hitting the post again from a Dimarco cross. The Three Lions now have just one game left to save their preparation for the World Cup against Germany on Monday night. Another hugely disappointing night for the Three Lions as they lose 0-4 to a well drilled and utterly ruthless Hungarian team. When Hungary got into the England box for the first time, Roland Sallai gave the Hungarian visitors the early lead. The Three Lions poked a prodded but lacked a cutting edge in attack once again and it was left to Hungary to score three times in the second half with Sallai scoring his second followed by a thunderous strike from Nagy and then just a minute before 90 was up, Gazdag broke through and scored Hungary’s fourth of the night. It was worse when John Stones was sent off for a contentious second yellow card. This result ultimately leaves England on the cusp of relegation from the Nations League and far from ideal preparation in a World Cup year.
