Spurs battled to the very end vs. the Bulls, lead by Lonnie Walker IV (20 points), Dejounte Murray (19 points) and Doug McDermott (19 PTS).
What an incredible game to witness as my first Spurs game I've been to in years! Being a Spurs fan, I still am a little disappointed that they blew the 104-87 lead and lost the game, I'm still glad that it was an exciting finish. The final minutes of the game were insane! It was hard for me to hear my own voice at some points. I think my favorite moment was when there was a little more than 3 minutes left and Lonnie Walker made a huge clutch block on Jordan Poole. The Spurs fans and I were on our feet going crazy when thag happened! In the final minute, both teams traded buckets, Dejounte Murray hit a clutch floater, then Jordan Poole hit a layup (that may have been a travel but there was no call, but who knows) and then Dejounte Murray hit a jumpshot to put the Spurs back up by 1 point with 40.2 seconds remaining. Then Jordan Poole missed a corner three. The Spurs could've secured the rebound that would potentially secure the win, but instead Dejounte Murray couldn't maintain control and the ball got loose. Multiple players fought for the ball and the Warriors managed to pick it up. They immediately passed it to Jordan Poole, who was wide open in the same corner three, and he swished it with 17.9 remaining, sending the Warriors fans into a frenzy. Then, as I had expected, the Spurs, as usual in this situation, chucked up a bad contested three, missed it, the Warriors rebounded and the Spurs were forced to foul. Damion Lee made both free throws to seal the win, making it a 4 point lead with 4.9 remaining. Spurs didn't bother to call timeout, they just inbounded the ball, Devin Vassell missed the three (didn't matter much anyway) and the buzzer sounded, the Warriors won 124-120. I think it was a really good experience. Even some of the Spurs fans were applauding at the end, showing that in the end, it was a good game for both teams. I can't wait to go to another Spurs game one day. It'll be great! Also, It's so good that I was finally able to hear some Spurs arena sounds live! #spurs #nba #attcenter #basketball #arena
The Miami Heat dominated the San Antonio Spurs tonight. Kyle Lowry returned and looked a little rusty, but Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, PJ Tucker, Dewayne Dedmon, Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, and more all played well for Miami. For the Spurs, Dejounte Murray and Doug McDermott were out with injures. Kelly Johnson, Devin Vassell, Tre Jones, Thaddeus Young, Derrick White, and my boy Lonnie Walker IV from the university of Miami got most go the playing time for the Spurs. The Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets 122-108 at Toyota Center on Monday night. Stephen Curry exploded for 40 points in the win, his sixth game with 40-plus points this season. He scored a career-best 21 points in the fourth quarter. Fellow All-Star Starter Andrew Wiggins added 23 points, while Kevon Looney recorded a game-high 14 rebounds. After having 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting and five assists at halftime, it felt like Stephen Curry was due for another solid performance in a Warriors win. But Curry’s performance in the second half was exceptional. The guard scored 30 points in the second half, including a career-best 21 points in the fourth quarter. Curry finished the game with 40 points and nine assists while hitting seven 3-pointers, his most made 3’s since Dec. 23. It was the 47th game in Curry’s career that he scored at least 40 points with seven 3’s, the most in NBA history. James Harden ranks second with 31 such games. Kevon Looney continued his success on the glass on Monday night. Looney recorded 14 rebounds in the win, the seventh time in his last 10 games that he has recored double-digit rebounds. Looney is averaging 11.1 rebounds during that span, which ranks 10th in the NBA. With the win, the Warriors completed a season sweep against the Rockets for the second consecutive season. The Dubs have defeated the Rockets in six consecutive games and eight of the least 10 regular season matchups. The Dubs close their back-to-back set in Texas against the San Antonio Spurs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the second of four games against the Spurs this season, with the Spurs winning the first matchup 112-107 on Dec. 4. The Spurs have alternated wins and loses in their last five games, most recently falling 115-110 to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.
