Il gioco di prima e in velocità del city mette in grave difficoltà l’Arsenal e al secondo minuto De Bruyne segna subito il primo gol dell’incontro. Proprio il belga è una fattore fondamentale della partita perché agisce alle spalle dei mediani dei gunners e riesce a trovare spazio fra le linee dialogando nello stretto. L’Arsenal di Ljungberg rimane molto compatto ma sia Aubameyang che Ozil sono impalpabili, e la pressione alta errata porta al 2-0 siglato da Sterling ancora su assist di De Bruyne. La pressione del Manchester City, invece, è molto ordinata ed efficace con il trequartista belga che agisce da pendolo sui mediani avversari, e al 40’ lo scatenato De Bruyne va a segnare il 3-0 sfruttando lo spazio alle spalle di Torreira e Guendouzi.
