Mare Seye is a 6th Dan professional Aikido instructor and long time student of Christian Tissier Shihan (8th Dan Aikikai). He started Aikido in France in 1987 and became a member of the National Technical College of the French Aikido Federation in 2005. He took on several technical positions within the French Aikido Federation over the years, most notably as the technical director of the Basse Normandie region from 2005 to 2011, and of the Île-de-France (Paris) region from 2013 to 2017. Mr Seye is also involved in the National Dan Examination Board and conducts seminars throughout the year in France and abroad. Yuri Semin: the man who can’t say no when Lokomotiv Moscow call | Jonathan Wilson
He has been both a player and a president of the Russian club, and the 71-year-old is now in his fourth stint as manager which included last season’s remarkable title triumph Never go back, they say, but Yuri Semin has never been somebody to place too much store by conventional wisdom. He is 71 now, his eyes more watery than ever, and this is his fourth stint in charge of Lokomotiv Moscow. In total, he’s managed them for more than two decades. To a large extent, Semin is the club and that they are playing Schalke in the Champions League on Wednesday is to a large degree down to him. Semin first became manager of Lokomotiv in 1986. He had a year away in 1991, managing New Zealand’s Olympic team – a typically unconventional move for a coach who manages to combine supreme practicality and the dress sense of a maverick 70s TV cop with the sense that he spends half his life gazing into another realm – before returning for 15 more years at Lokomotiv. First he saved them from bankruptcy, buying shares that he still owns, and then he made them a regular top six club. In 1996, he led Lokomotiv to the Russian Cup, their first trophy since winning the Soviet Cup 39 years earlier. They won it again the following year, and again in 2000 and 2001. And then, in 2002, Semin ended Spartak’s long hegemony and won the league for the first time in the club’s history. Two years later, they won it again. Semin finally left for the Russia national job in 2005 but two years later he was back at Lokomotiv, this time as president, only to be sacked after a poor season. He went to Ukraine and won the league with Dynamo Kyiv, but returned against to Lokomotiv in 2009. Again, though, disappointing form led to him being dismissed. All reason said he shouldn’t return again in 2016, but he did. Lok signed just one player for a fee that summer and made a net profit of £12m on transfers. They are not a rich club. The following season their net spend was £2.5m. In 2017-18 it was £3m. And yet, for the third time in their history, each of them under Semin, they won the league. It was a barely conceivable success. Theirs was not, in any sense, a team of stars. They had Eder, the former Swansea City striker who scored the winner in the Euro 2016 final; the veteran Peruvian winger Jefferson Farfán; and Ari, the Brazilian forward who won a Dutch title under Louis van Gaal at AZ; but their key player was the captain, Igor Denisov, his performances an indication of what Semin does best. Denisov is 34 now, his career a catalogue of fresh starts gone sour. A decade ago, when he excelled at Euro 2008, he seemed one of the brightest holding midfielders in Europe. But his personality keeps getting in the way. Denisov is difficult. He broke the nose of a driving instructor after a learner under tuition almost crashed into his SUV. The 10th Annual Madisen's Match! The Bryan Bro's, Querrey, Fish, The Jensen Bro's, and more!
Talk Tennis was back in Fort Myers, Florida this year for the 10th Annual Madisen’s Match, which kicked off by serving up an ACE at the opening Gala and Live Auction! As soon as the gates of the enchanting Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club opened, guests found themselves immersed in a divine tennis wonderland. A wall adorned with vintage tennis racquets and mystical white gloved hands emerging enticing everyone down a green carpet with a glass of bubbly, and the Queen of the Court awaiting the guests at the end with a few delicious bites. Dinner was a 4-course culinary Grand Slam, with cooks live preparing fine Australian, French, English, and American cuisine. The Gala and live auction that ensued after dinner united the room in spirit and energy as everyone came together for a common goal and transformative cause. The many tennis celebrities that were present to support the cause were scattered among the various tables helping to encourage awareness and fundraise benefitting the Golisano Children's Hospital Cancer Center Fund, and The Lee Health Regional pediatric and adult Cancer Center. The Bryan Brothers Band featuring Jim Bogios of the Counting Crows on the drums, called game set match to a successful and inspirational evening with a lively poolside performance. Guests celebrated on the dancefloor the incredible difference this night was going to make for the lives of so many in need adults and children. And the lady of the hour, Madisen, got “Jiggy With It” on the dancefloor among the guests, smiling, laughing, and twirling the night away, to the fruits of this sensational event that had ripened as a result of her beautiful self. The next day the celebration was taken to the courts for the Madisen’s Match Legends Tennis camp, and Pro-Am. The Legends camp provides the opportunity of a lifetime for tennis players and enthusiasts to get up close and personal with some of their favorite tennis super stars. Small groups are formed and spread amongst the many courts. The celebrities then turn into instructors as they rotate among all the courts, each focusing on a different aspect of the game. Not too bad being able to say that you learned a better forehand from Sam Querrey, or perfected your serve and Volley technique thanks to the Bryan Brothers! The day then continued with a Pro-Am tournament where the stars were each paired with an amateur player, and battled it out with each other to become the Madisen’s Match 10th Annual Pro-Am champions! The stars this year included: The most successful doubles team of all time, Bob and Mike Bryan. Top Ranked American player Sam Querrey. Former top ranked American player, and current ESPN broadcaster, Mardy Fish. Former top ranked American player, and newly appointed Davis Cup Captain, Robby Ginepri. Fed Cup captain who led our USA ladies in 2017 to their first victory in 17 years, Kathy Rinaldi. Former Top Tier coach, and top ranked American player Tom Gullikson. Former American player, and current Coach of the Washington Kastles of World Team Tennis, Murphy Jensen. Former Player and current ESPN Analyst, Luke Jensen. Former world #1 American doubles player, Don Johnson. And former Swedish professional player, Michael Pernfors. After the Legends Tennis Camp and Pro-Am, the excitement continued on to the Sun Coast Credit Union Arena for the Golisano Pro Tennis Classic. This event marked the first time ever that a professional tennis event was played indoors in Southwest Florida! Over 2 thousand fans eagerly crowded the stadium to watch the stars duke it out with one another in a fun yet fierce, competition. The 10th annual Madisen’s Match was a massive success! Not only was an incredible amount of good accomplished among these two amazing days, but a whole lot of fun for everyone involved was definitely achieved as well!
