After an uneven start to the 2026 season, Andrew Abbott is beginning to look like the pitcher who earned All-Star recognition a year ago. The left-hander continued his resurgence Sunday against the Houston Astros, firing six scoreless innings in the Cincinnati Reds’ 5-0 win at Great American Ball Park. Abbott allowed only three hits, walked one, and struck out five, including multiple punchouts of Yordan Alvarez, while never allowing a Houston runner to reach scoring position. Call (513) 655-3356 or visit qckinetix.com The outing pushed Abbott’s scoreless innings streak to 16.2 innings, a dominant stretch that has completely changed the tone around his season. Just a couple weeks ago, his ERA sat north of five and questions lingered about whether he could rediscover the command and confidence that made him one of Cincinnati’s most dependable starters in 2025. Now, Abbott looks composed again, locating his fastball on the corners and mixing his breaking pitches effectively to keep hitters off balance. What stands out most during this run is efficiency. Abbott needed only 85 pitches to complete six innings against Houston, and he retired nine consecutive batters during one stretch of the game. The Astros, despite featuring dangerous bats like Alvarez and Jose Altuve, never generated sustained pressure. For the Reds, Abbott’s resurgence could not come at a better time. Cincinnati has battled inconsistency early this season, but strong starting pitching remains the club’s clearest path back into the National League Central race. If Abbott continues to resemble the pitcher who broke onto the scene with historic scoreless streaks as a rookie in 2023, the Reds rotation suddenly becomes a major strength again. Colorado’s 2026 football schedule has fans circling one matchup as the ultimate trap game: a tricky Week 3 trip to Northwestern. With Chip Kelly calling plays and a surging Wildcats roster that returns 27 experienced contributors, could this overlooked Big Ten road game derail Coach Prime’s high-pressure season before it starts? Kevin Borba lays out how a slip-up in Evanston might spark a dreaded September avalanche, especially with bruising showdowns against Texas Tech, Utah, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State looming in October. Plus, which transfer portal additions must step up for Colorado to turn the corner? Kevin Borba names the four newcomers who “have to be stars” in Boulder: linebacker Gideon Lampron (run-stopper extraordinaire), bruising backs Richard Young and Damien Henderson, and disruptive pass rusher Toby Nnanna from North Dakota State. Without breakout seasons from these transfers, Colorado risks a repeat of last year’s struggles against the run and inconsistent offense. In a candid look at roster turnover, Kevin Borba also ranks the three biggest portal losses: wideout Omarion Miller, cornerstone tackle Jordan Seaton (lured by an SEC bag), and culture-carrying linebacker TaFeek Bayard. Which departure stings the most—and can Colorado’s revamped locker room make up the difference? With Coach Prime’s Buffs aiming to silence doubters and toughen up in the trenches, this episode breaks down Colorado’s biggest potholes, potential breakout stars, and just how fragile the 2026 campaign could be if early missteps snowball. Is Northwestern a looming disaster, or a confidence-launching win for this new-look squad? The A’s walked into Baltimore looking for a statement series win and instead left the final game looking like a team that forgot baseball games require more than one run. The pitching? Good enough. Luis Severino battled through traffic all night and kept the Orioles from turning the game into a blowout. The bullpen mostly held the line. But the offense? That thing was trapped in airplane mode from the first inning on. Eleven strikeouts, runners stranded everywhere, and another night where every big at-bat felt like somebody trying to parallel park a cruise ship. Tonight on LAST CALL: A’S POSTGAME, we break down why this loss felt more frustrating than ugly. Tyler Soderstrom kept swinging a dangerous bat, Denzel Clarke-level speed wasn’t walking through that door to save them, and the A’s once again had moments where you could see the outline of a dangerous team… right before they immediately face-planted into a strikeout. We’ll talk Severino’s outing, the brutal missed opportunities in the seventh and eighth innings, the continued offensive inconsistency, and whether this lineup is starting to develop a bad habit of disappearing the second pressure shows up. LIVE tonight at 9:00 on YouTube — because misery loves company, and apparently so do A’s fans. 🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up?
