This year’s Race to the Sun draws to a close with a short but explosive stage around Nice. It’s almost a carbon-copy of last year’s final stage, with five categorised climbs (2,284m of total elevation gain) crammed into the space of just 117.1km. The real mountains finally arrive on this queen stage of this year’s Paris-Nice. The Côte de Tourette-du-Château (17.8km at 4.6%) comes first, before the peloton tackles the brutal Col de la Couillole (16.2km at 7.1%). Stage 4 is the longest of the race at 218.7km. This is the first real test for the GC riders, with four ascents of the short but punchy climb to Tortoreto (3km at 7%) in the last 55km. Expect a cagey race up until the final climb before the climbers, puncheurs and GC riders all come to the fore to battle it out for the stage win and perhaps the race leader's jersey too! New TTT Format Makes For Thrilling Racing! | Paris-Nice 2023 Highlights - Stage 3
Stage 3 of this year's Race to the Sun is a team time trial with a twist. At 32.1km in length, this is the first TTT to feature at Paris-Nice in over 30 years, and unlike as is usually the case, times are taken on the team's first rider across the line. Stage 2 is another opportunity for the sprinters. With its meagre 1,000m of climbing and arrow-straight run into the finish in Fontainebleau, this 163.5km stage is much easier than yesterday's and should end with a big bunch sprint.
