Ep. 218 | What's Going On | Spring Practice Over | NFL Draft Wraps Up | Recruiting On Fire

Hardcore Penn State Football Podcast - Episode 149: Spring Ball Complete, Record 8 NFL Draft Picks, and the Recruiting Trail is BLAZING Welcome back to Hardcore Penn State Football, your ultimate destination for raw Nittany Lions analysis, insider recruiting scoops, and no-holds-barred debate! In this episode – dropping April 30, 2026 – hosts Cory Lestochi and Shawn Kane deliver the definitive spring wrap-up as Matt Campbell’s first full offseason comes to a close. We break down everything from the final practices and Blue-White Game takeaways, to Penn State tying a program record with 8 players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, and the white-hot recruiting momentum that has the staff piling up commitments and offers left and right. If you’re a die-hard Lion, this is the episode you’ve been waiting for all spring! Spring ball is officially DONE after the Blue-White Game on April 25, and the energy in Happy Valley is electric! Cory and Shawn recap the biggest takeaways from 15 practices under head coach Matt Campbell: the intense running back competition, massive strides by the offensive line (thanks to all those Iowa State transfers), and a defense that looks night-and-day better under D’Anton Lynn. Cory breaks down what this spring means for the 2026 depth chart and which position groups still need a portal push before fall camp. Historic weekendt in the NFL Draft for the Nittany Lions! Penn State tied the program record with EIGHT players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, including multiple Day 2 picks and a single first-rounder. Shawn walks through every selection while Cory talks about the emotional send-off for standouts like Nick Singleton (Senior Bowl injury) and the defensive stars who cashed in big. We also discuss how Campbell’s player-development focus and the NIL-to-NFL pipeline are paying dividends and what this record draft says about the program’s trajectory. The staff is absolutely on FIRE! With spring evaluations wrapped, Penn State has gone ballistic on the recruiting trail. Cory details the latest commitments and flips that have the 2027 class climbing back into the national top 15, while Shawn spotlights the 2027 surge — including multiple five-star targets who visited recently and immediately received big-time offers. We cover key position needs being attacked (OL, EDGE, DB), how Campbell’s “family-first” pitch is landing with recruits, and the continued impact of the Iowa State pipeline on high-school targets. Plus, early buzz on potential 2028 names and how the spring performance is helping close top prospects right now. If you’re pumped about the Campbell era, smash that LIKE button, SUBSCRIBE, and turn on notifications so you never miss an episode! Playoffs are in full swing so that means our annual tradition of hate watching the Greaseballs begins. The Ducks are hanging in there with the greasy pigs so that's encouraging. It also means the annual tradition of Edmonton's finest beating the crap out of each other and biting one another's ears off! The main focus today is on the Flames, however. There wasn’t much new information to pull from Flames locker room clean out day but for the first time in a long time it feels like things are positively headed in the right direction. And that’s all because Craig Conroy has and continues to stick to his vision for how he wants to build this team. He’s the man and he’s got us stoked on the Flames future. #nhl #nhlshorts #nhlplayoffs #nhlpredictions #nhlhockey #nhlpicks #stanleycup #stanleycupfinal #calgaryflames FLAMESNATION MERCH https://nationgear.ca/collections/shirts/Flamesnation IN THE DOME SHORTS https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj_bcGtvvo-evTwcwhzW5WLd2mlPDWSam 📲 Follow us: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/in.the.dome/?hl=en X (Twitter): https://x.com/InTheDomePod?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor 🎧 Listen on: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/in-the-dome-calgary-flames-fan-podcast/id1471518873 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/01eumErJvBdxCW4YJivbwc Producer: Yasmin Lee

Thomas Cup 2026 badminton: Will India overcome Chinese Taipei challenge in quarterfinal clash?

Thomas Cup 2026 badminton: Will India overcome Chinese Taipei challenge in quarterfinal clash? India will aim to stay on course for a second title when they face a formidable Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals of the Thomas Cup Finals on Friday. Four years ago, India achieved an unprecedented feat by clinching the Thomas Cup crown — the world team championship of badminton — bringing the sport firmly into focus among the country’s youth. This time, India progressed to the quarterfinals after finishing second in Group A and will face Chinese Taipei, who are yet to win the title. India made a strong start to their campaign with a 4-1 win over Canada, followed by a 5-0 sweep of Australia, before going down 2-3 to China despite a spirited effort. Chinese Taipei is also a formidable side, led by world No. 6 Chou Tien Chen. Alongside him, world No. 8 and reigning All England champion Lin Chun-Yi and world No. 21 Chi Yu Jen add depth to their singles line-up. In doubles, the Taiwanese side boasts of the world No. 14 pair of Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Wang Chi-Lin, and world No. 16 duo of Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan. India, on the other hand, have looked in good touch, with both singles and doubles combinations performing well. Young Ayush Shetty has carried forward his form from the Badminton Asia Championships, where he finished runner-up, winning all three of his matches, including victories over Brian Yang and Weng Hong Yang in the second singles.
