CAN 2019 : Le Sénégal beaucoup trop fort pour le Kenya
Après avoir été battu par l'Algérie (1-0), le Sénégal a réagi lundi soir, au détriment du Kenya (3-0) et se qualifie pour les huitièmes de finale de la CAN 2019. Comme le Maroc un peu plus tôt, l'Algérie a réussi le grand chelem lundi soir, en s'offrant une troisième victoire en autant de matches de poules disputés sur cette Coupe d'Afrique des nations, sur la pelouse de l'Al Salam Stadium du Caire. Les Fennecs n'ont même pas été inquiétés par la Tanzanie, et ont su concrétiser leur domination (3-0), le tout malgré neuf changements dans le onze de départ, ce dont a notamment su profiter le Napolitain Adam Ounas, formé au Girondins de Bordeaux et crédité d'un doublé. Mais le vrai intérêt de ce groupe C se situait plutôt au Stade du 30 Juin, toujours au Caire, pour la "finale" entre le Kenya et le Sénégal. Et c'est Ismaïla Sarr qui délivre son équipe et tout un peuple, peu après l'heure de jeu (1-0, 63e). Grâce à cette réalisation du Rennais, associé notamment à son compère Mbaye Niang et à l'ancien Stéphanois ou Bordelais Henri Saivet, le Sénégal respire et se libère en retour. Mis en échec en première période, Sadio Mané se reprend et double la mise (2-0, 71e), avant de s'offrir un doublé en marquant... sur penalty (3-0, 78e). Voilà les Sénégalais deuxièmes du groupe C derrière les Algériens et au rendez-vous des huitièmes de finale. Pour le Kenya en revanche, les chances de terminer parmi les quatre meilleurs troisièmes sont très réduites.

Harambee star 2-0 loss to Algeria ( Fennecs) in their opening Group C match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), was a very big disappointment to their fans. The head coach Sebastian Migne confirmed that they were going to the game with no pressure but to perform. Despite the expectations the, the team suffered a crashing defeat due to the following reasons: – First and foremost during the first half, the efforts from the team were very feeble, that’s why through their poor coordination Algeria was awarded a penalty. Secondly, the defenders were exposing the goalkeeper so much in that he was always under pressure. The group also had some of its good players eliminated due to issues such as injuries further weakening their position. Also, there was poor coordination between the strikers and the midfielders, the midfielders worked hard pushing chance forward but the finishing was poor. Algeria had good players the likes of Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) Adlene Guedioura (Nottingham) and Sofiane Feghouli (Galatasaray) who are more experienced than the Kenyan side who most of them play in the local Kenyan league. In an effort to improve the national team Kenya should consider nurturing talents in an early stage by building soccer academies and funding them well.
