Les Eperviers du Togo ont décroché un précieux succès 1-0 face aux Ecureuils cet après-midi au stade de Kégué synonyme d’accession au second tour des qualifications du Chan Cameroun 2020 grâce à un but de Marouf Tchakei. Résumé Alors que le public scandait « Démission » à l’arrivée du sélectionneur des A , Claude Leroy en début de match , les Eperviers du jour quant à eux ne perdent pas du temps à entrer dans le vif du sujet. Le Togo prend vite dans la possession dans un début de match engagé et brouillon. Le Bénin va se signaler avec deux tentatives. Idrissou Saliou s’essayent de loin (10e) puis Mama Souraka de la tête (14e) de la tête aux six mètres sans accrocher le cadre. Plus entreprenant mais très approximatif , le Togo aura sa meilleure occase peu avant la pause. Servi dans le dos de la défense béninoise , Richard Nane trouve le cadre d’une frappe puissante mais aussi les gants de Dine Kakpo qui bosse le cuir (37e). Le premier acte moyen en termes de production s’achève sur le même score que le match aller, 0-0. Marouf Tchakei libère Kégué A la reprise la qualité de jeu ne s’améliore pas pour autant, le public s’agace. Chaque équipe aura son opportunité sur cet acte. Gaston Houngbédji place un pointu mou pour faire mouche suite à un centre de Rodrigue Fassinou (70e) Dans la foulée , la libération arrive pour les jaunes. Kossi Koudagba centre en cordeau au second poteau , Kakpo manque sa sortie , Marouf Tchakei marque d’une tête plongeante dans les buts vides (72e) Le Bénin va pousser dans le dernier quart d’heure sans y arriver malgré l’entrée de l’expérimenté Mouri Ogounbiyi. Patrick Sèdjamè aura la dernière occase sur un tir des dix-huit mètres qu’il décroise totalement (93e). Après le nul 0-0 décroché à Porto-Novo , il y a sept jours les Eperviers s’imposent 1-0 et filent au second tour face au Nigéria pour disputer un billet pour la phase finale. La troisième séance d’entraînement des Eperviers du Togo s’est déroulée ce mercredi à huis clos avec un groupe au complet. Elle s’est résumée essentiellement en une opportunité de deux fois 30 mn aucours de laquelle le sélectionneur national Claude Le Roy a essayé différentes options toutes basées sur un football offensif. Les joueurs ont eu la visite du ministre des sports Foli Bazi Katari accompagné du 2ème vice-président, du S.G de la FTF et d’autres membres du Comité Exécutif. Le ministre est venu exprimer aux joueurs, le soutien du Gouvernement et leur a promis la disponibilité à les accompagner jusqu’à la victoire à Cotonou.

SEA DOGS MOVE WITHIN ONE OF QMJHL WINS RECORD SAINT JOHN, N.B. -- The Saint John Sea Dogs sit just one win away from tying the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League wins record after an 8-1 win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles Friday. Stanislav Galiev scored twice and was named first star, second star Stephen MacAulay had a goal and an assist and third star Pierre Durepos had a goal and two helpers. Ryan Tesink added three assists and Aidan Kelly, Alexandre Beauregard, Danick Gauthier and Steven Anthony chipped in singles. Jacob DeSerres made 24 saves to set a new team record with 27 wins before a sold-out crowd of 6,245 at Harbour Station. Saint John also set a new team record for three fastest goals when Galiev, Beauregard and MacAulay connected within 52 seconds in the first period. Logan Shaw had the lone Cape Breton goal. Andrew Hayes allowed four goals on 15 shots in the first period before giving way to Alexandre Veronneau to start the second. The 17-year-old rookie made 20 saves on 24 shots the rest of the way as Cape Breton fell to 17-45-1-4. The Sea Dogs improved to 57-7-1-2 heading into the 68th and final game of the season. They sit one win short of the record of 58 established by the Sorel Eperviers in 70 games in 1973-74 and matched by the Trois-Rivieres Draveurs in 72 games in 1978-79. The Dogs also ran their home record to 31-0-1-1 and could become the first team in QMJHL history to go undefeated at home in regulation time. Kelly, who skated on a line with Jason Cameron and Marshall Worden, drew Saint John's third power play of the game on the trio's first shift at 6:28 of the first period. Head Coach Gerard Gallant left the line on the ice for the power play and they rewarded him with the game's first goal, Kelly's sixth of the season at 7:30. Kelly converted the rebound of a shot from the right point by Durepos. Worden, making his Sea Dogs debut after being recalled from the Miramichi Timberwolves, drew the other assist. Galiev made it 2-0 with his 35th of the year at 17:54. After misfiring a pass on a 3-on-0 with Danick Gauthier and MacAulay. Galiev went back to his own end to collect the puck. The Russian forward showed off his high-end skill, rushing through the defense and finishing with a tight stickhandling move and high shot to the short side. Durepos had the lone assist on the play. Beauregard then made it 3-0 at 18:07 after some great work behind the net by Tesink. The feisty Saint John native won the puck and passed it out front to Beauregard who surprised Hayes for his 11th of the season, with MacAulay recording the other assist. MacAulay rounded out the first period summary with his 15th of the year at 18:46, establishing a new Sea Dogs record for the three fastest goals (52 seconds). Tesink's hard work was a factor again as he found MacAulay in front despite being down on the ice. Kevin Gagne had the other assist. The Eagles switched goaltenders to start the second, but the Dogs picked up where they left off as Gauthier ran the lead to 5-0 at 5:59 of the middle frame. Tomas Jurco and Eric Gelinas recorded the assists on the goal, Gauthier's 11th of the season. Worden continued to earn the accolades of the Harbour Station fans, dropping the gloves with Cape Breton's Blake Millman at 8:20 of the second. Shaw got the Eagles back within four with his 25th of the year on a power play at the 14-minute mark. The Dogs erased any doubts about the outcome with two more goals early in the third. Galiev notched his second, and 36th of the year, at 4:03, with assists from Zack Phillips and Jonathan Huberdeau. Anthony made it 7-1 with his 23rd of the season on a power play at 6:46, with helpers from Nathan Beaulieu and Gauthier.
