Welcome to the Detroit Lions Podcast! Today we host our Game Preview for the battle between the Detroit Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles in week 8 of the 2021 NFL season. Detroit Lions Podcast Game Preview The 2-5 Eagles are coming off of a road loss, in which they were beaten by the Las Vegas Raiders. The injury-decimated Lions made a strong showing last week against the Los Angeles Rams falling just short of a win (again) after a late Jared Goff interception (again). These teams seem to be heading in opposite directions, the Eagles nosediving toward a rebuild, and the Lions ascending, playing solid football, and building young talent. While their records don't reflect the directions the teams seem to be heading, that could easily change by the end of the year. Can the Detroit Lions pull out their first win at Ford Field in 2021? We are joined (of course) by WWJ-Radio airtime superstar, Tony Ortiz, to break down what to expect in this match-up, and we’ll pick up some fun insider stories from TO along the way. Week 7 Recap, How Bengals dominated Ravens, Fixing the Chiefs, & NFL Team Tiers
Recap of all NFL Week 7 NFL games. Full show! DEN/CLE - CLE can win without Baker against mediocre teams. DEN is not a good team at this point. CIN/BAL - CIN perfect gameplan - rush & retrace with DEs to cover Lamar's run lanes, used extra help to block BAL blitzes, Burrow good vs. blitz. BAL made a bad choice to put Humphrey 1:1 with Chase. WAS/GB - GB let WAS stick around. They can't seem to put teams away. GB plays slow/conservative to protect a mediocre D. Smart! ATL/MIA - Pitts has arrived! Ryan playing at a high level. ATL figuring it out. Tua solid game but how much was just because of the bad ATL D? NYJ/NE - NYJ in a dire state. NE rolls. BB basically did whatever he wanted this game. CAR/NYG - Darnold benched. No CMC hurting this O and they won't use DJ Moore in that role. Daniel Jones is aight. KC/TEN - Murphy's Law game for KC. TEN making a statement. Fully back? What's wrong with the Chiefs & Mahomes and how to fix them! DET/LAR - DET Super Bowl. Fakes galore. Rams squeeze the life out at the end. PHI/LV - Raiders rolling. They're legit. Hurts garbage time king. Sanders hurt is disappointing. HOU/ARI - "I'm never betting on Davis Mills again" and "I'm done underestimating the Cards" meet. I should know better. Kyler played like he knew he had extra lives to spare. Watt injured. CHI/TB - Bowles vs. Fields/Lazor/Nagy wasn't a fair fight. Letting Fields "get his reps in" is a good notion, but not in that situation. IND/SF - Waterlogged game. Wentz some good throws but a TON of mistakes. NO/SEA - Saints eke it out. Still no identity yet (reminds me of Bucs last year). SEA needs Russ back. Welcome to the Detroit Lions Podcast! Well, that just happened. The Detroit Lions went to SoFi Stadium to play the Los Angeles Rams and played their hearts out in a game that was much closer than the score would reveal. Chris was there and will report on all things SoFi Stadium and the Lions Rams experience. The team came close. In a game in which they were 16.5 point underdogs, the Detroit Lions succumbed to the Rams late after Matthew Stafford absolutely abused CB Daryl Worley when he stepped in for an injured AJ Parker. That being said, they beat the heck out of the point spread. Worley's performance was so bad, that he's already been cut. Its not unexpected, when you are already working in 4th and 5th string players to cover for injuries, eventually you're going to hit the talent cliff. That's what happened with Worley. A valiant effort by the Lions who are still looking for their first win after meeting the LA Rams. That said, their best chance of the season for a win so far comes this week when the Detroit Lions play host to the Philadelphia Eagles. Expectations amongst fans are high for the Lions to return to the same form they showed in Los Angeles which should be enough to clip the Philadelphia Eagles wings.
