Nebraska Volleyball to Play UNLV and Texas at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in Players Era Event
Press Release Courtesy of Nebraska Athletics- Matchups have been announced for the Players Era Showcase in Las Vegas this summer. The Nebraska volleyball program will play in the first-ever Players Era Volleyball Showcase in Las Vegas this August to officially begin the regular season. The two-day event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29 and Sunday, Aug. 30 at T-Mobile Arena. The Huskers will face UNLV on Aug. 29 and Texas on Aug. 30. Start times, TV and ticket information will be announced at a later date. TCU is also among the four teams in the event, and doubleheaders will be played both days. “Playing in the first volleyball Players Era event is an exciting opportunity for our program," Head Coach Dani Busboom Kelly said. "Nebraska wants to be at the forefront of new events and opportunities for our players and our sport. Having the opportunity to face our long-standing rival, Texas, is the icing on the cake. Not only will Vegas be an amazing location to start our season, playing UNLV and Texas will set a tone from the beginning. We want to thank MGM and the Players Era for believing in volleyball and Nebraska to make this event possible.” Nebraska and UNLV have never played in volleyball. The Huskers are 33-25 all-time against Texas. The teams haven't played since the 2023 NCAA Championship match in Tampa, Fla., which Texas won 3-0. The last meeting between Nebraska and Texas during the regular season was Aug. 27, 2016, a 3-0 Husker victory at the VERT Challenge in Eugene, Ore. At the time, the Huskers were ranked No. 1 and the Longhorns were ranked No. 2 in that rematch of the 2015 NCAA Championship. Para esta edición, el número de equipos se mantendrá en 20, así como las mismas sedes que la temporada anterior. La fecha de inicio de la campaña será el jueves 16 de abril con el equipo campeón Diablos Rojos del México recibiendo a Piratas de Campeche en el Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú de la Ciudad de México. El resto de las Series Inaugurales iniciarán al día siguiente y serán: Sultanes vs Algodoneros, Tecolotes vs Rieleros, Dorados vs Caliente, Toros vs Saraperos, Acereros vs Charros, Conspiradores vs El Águila, Bravos vs Leones, Guerreros vs Pericos y Tigres vs Olmecas. La LMB está lista para volver al diamante este año con una temporada que empieza cargada de expectativas, rivalidades encendidas y el protagonismo del campeón vigente desde el primer día. Con el calendario ya definido, el circuito veraniego se prepara para un inicio que promete espectáculo inmediato. El curso ya tiene definidas sus fechas clave, incluyendo el primer partido y las primeras series que marcarán el arranque del calendario. La campaña regular comenzará el jueves 16 de abril y concluirá el 6 de agosto, dando inicio a la postemporada el domingo 9 de agosto. El Juego de Estrellas 2026 se llevará a cabo en Monterrey del 26 al 28 de junio. Los horarios de juego en el "Diamante de Fuego" serán de lunes a viernes a las 19:00 del Centro de México, mientras que los sábados y domingos se establecerá un nuevo horario, iniciando a las 17:00. Hay que recordar que los Diablos Rojos del México son bicampeones y buscan el tricampeonato con una plantilla que cuenta con Robinson Canó, Japhet Amador y el regreso de Ramón Flores. El conjunto Escarlata tendrá el Opening Day en el Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú, por lo que será el único equipo en ver actividad en el debut. Otro dato relevante es que se estrenará un nuevo estadio, como parte de la renovación de parques de la Liga. Guerreros de Oaxaca abre el Estadio YU’VA para celebrar su aniversario 30. Aún se trabaja a marchas forzadas, por lo que la Tropa Bélica fungirá de visita las primeras dos series. El telón se levanta el jueves 16 de abril de 2026, con el tradicional Juego Inaugural que tendrá como protagonistas a los Diablos Rojos del México, actuales monarcas, recibiendo a los Piratas de Campeche. Para esta campaña se mantendrá el mismo sistema de competencia, contando con un rol de juegos corrido sin vueltas. Para los playoffs, seis clubes avanzarán de cada uno de los sectores a la postemporada; los equipos serán sembrados de acuerdo con su porcentaje de ganados y perdidos en la temporada regular; en caso de igualdad, se recurrirá al dominio y, de persistir la equidad, se usará como base el diferencial de carreras. Habrá cuatro rondas de playoffs (Primer Playoff, Series de Zona, Series de Campeonato y Serie del Rey) y avanzarán aquellos equipos que consigan ganar cuatro de siete enfrentamientos. A las Series de Zona clasificarán los tres ganadores del Primer Playoff (tres por Zona) y el mejor perdedor, siendo aquel que ganare la mayor cantidad de juegos en la ronda anterior. Para los casos en que dos o más equipos denominados ‘mejores perdedores’ terminaren empatados en encuentros ganados en el Primer Playoff, se utilizará el porcentaje de ganados y perdidos de la temporada regular como primer criterio de desempate, y el diferencial de carreras como segundo criterio. La campaña regular comenzará el jueves 16 de abril y concluirá el 6 de agosto, dando inicio a la postemporada el domingo 9 de agosto. Stephen Kolek allowed a three-run shot by Rhys Hoskins but little else over six innings in his season debut. The right-hander strained his oblique in his first start of spring training, but Kolek had pitched well in four rehab starts at Triple-A Omaha before the Royals had him make a spot start for Noah Cameron, who's dealing with some lower back tightness. Nick Mears and Daniel Lynch IV handled a scoreless inning apiece in relief for Kansas City, and Lucas Erceg worked around a two-out walk in the ninth to earn his third save in four games and 10th of the season. The Guardians' Gavin Williams (5-2) allowed five runs and eight hits with two walks while losing for the first time since March 27, when the Mariners beat him in the second game of the season.
